Heck with the new comers. Just be nice to me.

Not even if you paid me.

Childish enough? 🙂

I agree with @Der Zeitgeist that these forums are often extremely childish and I can’t help but believe it’s due to a lot of bitter old men.

Thinking about that, I believe it's not just the actual age of members of the flight sim community, but also the obvious isolation from the wider gaming community and its trends. I get the feeling alot of the hardcore simmers really play/use not much besides flight simulations.

I've been gaming in various genres including flight sims for more than 30 years now, and while there is a ton of things to criticize about the gaming industry in 2020, there also are some things that will be a godsend for MSFS and its continuing development, especially the clear emphasis on digital distribution and a centralized market place for addons.

This has been standard for a lot of games for the past 15 years now, but flight sims still had a ton of these convoluted installation, upgrade and addon systems that made you pull your hair out and led to installations that eventually collapsed under their own weight.

When MSFS first got announced, there was a ton of scepticism on this forum about bringing things like online streaming, a centrally curated marketplace and also subscription options like Xbox GamePass to the flight sim world, obviously because a lot of people here didn't even know what these things meant. So I guess it's about time to broaden the horizons, so to speak.

What if I want you to be a little mean to me? 🤔

Take-offs are optional, landings are mandatory.
The only time you have too much fuel is when you're on fire.
To make a small fortune in aviation you must start with a large fortune.

There's nothing less important than the runway behind you and the altitude above you.
It's better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, than in the air wishing you were on the ground.

How long do we have to be nice to them? It sounds like a new intake of 5 year olds on their first day at school.

It's a 10 years project.

Happy with MSFS 🙂

There shouldn't be any problem. They just have to say the right words ; Please Sir, Yes Sir, Thank you Sir.  But I draw a line : the first who asks if he can crash into his house, gets it. Full gale.

With 5 years of development done already..

Not sutre why it's thought that the Xboxers will come here, they will have their own forum, & there are many other sim forums out there.

Us 'oldies' have had plenty of practice dealing with the 2020 & 20'ers, the teens & tweeny bobbers here.. We can handle whatever walks through our hallowed portals.

Let the games begin...

maybe. but this msfs has quite heavy specs needed for optimal use and not everyone is willing to pay 1500 - 2000 for a good pc to run it ( like me). so i am one that is going to play it on the new xbox, and i will not be alone.

but yes i do expect a huuge influx of very noobish flightsim gamers, with all their questions that can be answered within

10 seconds via google..(rolls eyes privately)..

so yes a good newcomer forum i think can help there to streamline that process.

dont lets kid ourselves, we do need much more users to keep this going, in my view.

For a good preview, check the FSX Steam forums.

WE need more users to keep it going???

Wot rubbish.. At the moment, there only a bunch of Alpha users and those that have pre-ordered.

What makes you think WE need much more users to keep 'this' thing going? The Xboxers have not even started yet.

You are quite presumptious in thinking that 'this' thing needs more support!!

Most avsimmers are unable to get down from their high horse of being a professional simulator pilot taking place in their basement.

I second the idea of a newcomer forum specifically for MSFS. Assuming people does come since the time of the forums has changed a bit, and the fact there will be an official forum, plus the official Discord channel, plus the usual facebook groups and so on.
