Anyone catch the leak posted on Reddit earlier?

This is just a visual effect, but it would imitate the fact they get more intense on the eyes the closer you get to them.

I like how all the lights in the real world video have a lot more "bloom" than we see in the leaked videos.   Maybe that's just a side effect of the camera lens or the wind-shield, i don't know, but I hope Asobo lets the users tweak the "bloom" we see in game.

In my experience almost any picture and video is never a true representation of such things as they appear in reality. I have lost count of the amount of times I have seen people have the screaming abdabs because their sim/game does not look like the picture. Too much bloom, not enough bloom, too much glare, not enough glare and my favourite.....the colours are wrong...look at this picture.....blah blah blah. They see picture and they think it MUST be correct but they don't understand that the picture is not how it IS.

You simply cannot claim a pic or video is proof of what something looks like in reality. I know some find that weird and difficult to believe but it's the truth. It's just not how it works.

Hence a slider, then everyone's happy.

Sure, but I didn't quote that bit and wasn't making that point. Was I...😉

I understand, sometimes it hard to gather up all the threads.

Yes I agree, this is why in the traditional art academies we tend to use live models or still life sets or go outside in nature to learn how to interpret light and colours and learn how to paint.

Photography is already, as you said, an interpretation of light and colours based on the camera settings, lense type / aperture / exposure etc etc.

I think most graphic engines behind the simulators of today have the airports beacons or runway approach lights etc with tennis balls like bloom / halo effects... The effect does not seem to adapt to the distance... This is also the case of aircraft lights...

I was expecting a little more sophistication when it comes to the bloom / halo lights in the engine of MSFS but hopefully these are adjustable using dynamic lights mods like the other simulator...

I must say the leaks are fantastic as an insight to the very varying degrees of airmanship demonstrated in the sim world!

Cessna 172s doing long finals at Vso + 1

TBM swerving and dancing on the runway and then taking off for the stall at 20'.

All very entertaining.

I’d partly agree. We had to witness what you described, but we have yet to see one who actually has only the slightest idea how to really fly a plane. Just to see the other extreme of airmanship, should that exist among alpha testers. 🤔 Somewhat entertaining nevertheless.

That's the guy with the bilibili username "STUDIO". That video is a join-up of two videos he posted a couple of weeks ago displaying little to no flying skills.

Made me think that if ASOBO had initially given some sort of flying proficiency test on the Alpha - then a lot of the testers would have got no further in to the software than that test. ASOBO could then have deleted them from the Alpha and let someone else in.

Mind you, we get an eyeful of the sim whatever the skill level being demonstrated so all leaks are good in that sense..

This way Asobo is testing if the software is 'id**t proof'. 😬

On days when the forum is not in use a local bible school runs classes. With that in mind, profane grafitti and anything objectionable to toddlers is kept off the hallway walls......... 😄😇

We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically.

The leaks are coming from no more than a handful of people while there are apparently ~ 10000 Alpha testers. There are enough people testing who know how to fly a plane. And the few who leak things are most likely not the most invested anyway.
