PILOT’S Boeing B314 – The Clipper

This is the official support forum for the Pilot's Boeing B314 Clipper add-on.

  1. Started by dragonflightdesign,

Turns out that this is a fairly serious bug in the sim itself, but I hadn't known about it before Someone-Who-Shall-Remain-Nameless (hereinafter called 'SWSRN') pushed me into doing some research on what was going on. The following is extracted from the updated Manual Part 2 which is coming with the patch: 4. There is a long-standing bug in the battery part of the simulator which causes the battery to discharge in under twenty minutes as soon as it is put under load. The bug has been there since FS2000; Microsoft say they ‘improved it’ in FS2004 but it has not been fixed or ‘improved’ since by either Microsoft or Lockheed-Martin. There are three possible solut…

Dear community: it seems that I still have not mastered the fuel transfer procedure for this beauty..... I have tried nearly all possible combinations and used the handpump as well as both electric fuel pumps, but there simply is no transfer taking place. The fuel levels in the lower tanks stay where they were before starting the transfer and only the two main tanks are loosing some fuel which was burnt by the four engines of course..... Can someone please help me to get this right and explain in more detail how to proceed? As well all know, the manual is pretty foggy on this subject and extensive internet searches did not bring up anything useful either.…

I'm working on it - thank you for the feedback. There's no release date planned yet but I can say that there will be some new stuff as well as the fixes.

We've got a bit of a delay on the patch. My development PC threw its toys out of the pram and refused to boot with a 'no boot manager found' error message. Turned out the boot SSD had lost its MBR (master boot record), forcing me into all sorts of rebuilds and updates I had no intention of doing. No loss of data; I'm utterly paranoid about losing data so backups are spread across two PCs and eight (yes!) hard drives. Then to add insult to injury, when I'd got some stability back in the PC, P3D wouldn't licence itself. It threw up a nice little error message about a failed uninstall and I needed to contact Lockheed Martin, so... I'm waiting to hear back from them. Mos…

  6. Really struggling to clean up my exhaust. I figure black smoke means too much fuel so I lean my engines using the EGT gauge. Sometimes it works. Sometimes I end up with white and black smoke despite all engines being set the same way. It’s driving me nuts. Any advice for clearing my exhaust would be appreciated. also, I still can’t figure out the auto/gyro pilot. Can’t get it to hold straight and level flight. I think I read that it won’t turn or climb and descend but will hold you straight and level. So I flew with clear skies and still couldn’t get it to hold.

Since I have over 500 aircraft in my P3D/FSX setup, I'm not too keen on going through extensive startup checklists, so for B-314 I am going directly to the engines running scenarios. Unfortunately the engines are quitting. Is there a fix for this?

  8. Started by SH427,

Hello! I've discovered a small issue with the fuel transfer system. I've been able to reproduce this problem in flight and on the ground idling. I have the fuel system set up as shown in the manual, (Port 1+2, 1+2, Starboard 3+4, 3+4, hydro set to off and wing refuel set to port) if I wish to transfer fuel from the Hydrostab tanks to the wings, I assume I must select a hydrostab tank from the distributor and turn on a transfer pump (or both pumps?) However when I do this, the wing tank corresponding to the Hydrostabilizer tank (EDIT: It corresponds to the Wing Refuel selected) immediately goes to zero gallons and within a few seconds the engines on that …

Thanks for creating a support forum, that is much appreciated. I am still learning the basics of the airplane but I already appreciate the enormous amount of research that went into creating this model. It is a unique airplane and I am quite happy with the purchase. However, nothing is perfect, so here are some suggestions. Some of the textures in the FE/Navigator room are extremely blurry, to the extent that one cannot read what is written on them. This includes the fuel selectors and the RPM switches. It would be nice if they could be improved a little. They are well readable on the 2D panels. I watched the 1936 movie China Clipper and was impressed by the w…

I stress: this is an interim patch because I was not happy with holding you up any longer. It's downloadable from the PILOT'S website for those early users such as yourselves. You don't need to clean out any files from either sim ('Delete Generated Files') shortcut but you will need to uninstall the current version and reboot if requested to do so. I have fixed a lot of minor bugs. The major ones are: VC trim controls now work VC radios fixed Fuel transfer fixed 2/3 gyropilot fixed (no rudder control yet - I thought that the pitch and bank were the most pressing need) Updates to the Part 2 manual, especially around the gyropilot section. Also…

Due to illness in the household (not COVID-19) I am currently unable to give my full attention to fixing the problems with the Clipper. It's a long way there, but not complete. I'll update this thread when I have better news.

P3Dv5.1 only VC. Its not a bug in model but whole P3Dv5.1 lighting. It was reported for Lockheed Martin (the same issue are in many addons now). We'll see what hot fix 1 for 5.1 will add with this. In 5.1 you have the new option also, it may help with this. Check Auto Exposure option and turn it on. Default without auto exposure:

Hi, I was in contact with developer about my issue with this but looks like its ok but maybe others users have any idea for this or noticed the similar problem? Version: V 1.0 October 31th 2020 R1b. When I have 100% of fuel and cargo (so weight is near 100% but not more, like default start) I cant recive good speed for take off from water so cant speed up simply. For normal start you need 42 Manifold Pressure and 2100-2200 RPM (so needles of MP and RPM max on yellow arc always, not more!) but with this engines settings my plane still stay on the water. If I take 50 MP it starts to swim... but swim only with very low speed without any speed up effect. I can …
