I've extracted this post from another thread as many people are querying the state of the passenger cabin. It applies to both the Prepar3D version and the MSFS version. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To quote me from the PILOT'S support forum on Avsim: "Unfortunately the interior in the Foynes replica is just wrong from nose to tail. At the time it was built, it was built with the best information available (hence the Pan Am colour scheme) but much more has come to light since." You just need to searc…

In case you’re not already aware, we have now released another update, PILOT’S B-314 - The Clipper v1.55 is now available! The PILOT’S B-314 for MSFS is now also available via Aerosoft, JustFlight and simMarket. The B-314 is now in the Marketplace cue, I’ve been pressing the Marketplace Team for a release ETA, and at present they are unable to commit to a specific timeline. I would like to extend a big thanks to FlyingsCool5650 for the suggested overhaul of the camera views, these how now been incorporated in this latest update! Through much trial and error we discovered that there is a bug with the Center fuel tanks. I have now recoded the fuel tank logic …

So far we have found no incompatibilities with P3D v6.0. Cockpit/external lighting: P3D v6.0 has new graphics options under the Options | Live Graphics; specifically tab 1 (Graphics) and tab 3 (Tone Mapping). Under Tone Mapping you do not need to adjust the Toe settings; leave them at zero. Lockheed-Martin have done a very good job of allowing you to balance internal and external lighting. Be aware that in the initial release (6.0) the Gamma slider works the wrong way round. I believe LM intend to fix this in the first patch/hotfix. -Dai

There is a bug in P3D v5.4 that is preventing the three artificial horizons (bank and climb indicators) from working. This only affects the B-314; the B314-A has different code and works okay. The B-314 works in v5.3 and also works in v6.0, so I won't be issuing a fix for v5.4 because of the danger of possibly introducing errors to the other versions of the sim. -Dai

I’m pleased to announce that PILOT’S B-314 - The Clipper v1.5 is now available! For all those eagerly awaiting release on the MSFS Marketplace, this is our Marketplace release candidate, and as soon as we have a more precise idea on when it will be available there, I’ll make an announcement here. The focus on v1.5 has been to overhaul the exterior detailing, some of the screenshots below illustrate this, and of course ready the Marketplace release. The pitch bug on the Captain side attitude indicator has been addressed and fixed too. Thank you again for all your valuable feedback, we hope you enjoy this very latest update, our 5th since the initial rel…

Thank you all for the very positive and productive feedback we've received since release! I’m happy to announce that PILOT’S B-314 - The Clipper v1.3 is now available! With the help of Asobo’s input I have been able to work around the issue of LVAR values not being properly passed through to animate certain switches and dials. I have recoded the fuel dial logic and the fuel dials are now in their correct position, both when you start from Cold & Dark or from a water runway position, as per the screenshots below. The flight model has also seen some minor changes, mostly to enhance the overall heavy feeling of the Clipper, both on the water and when airbo…

I am happy to let you all know that PILOT’S B-314 - The Clipper v1.15 is now available! Numerous items have been addressed, the external exits are now animated and functional, you can open and close them by using the switches on the communications panel, which is situated to the left of the Engineer Panel at the back of the VC. The VC wing access doors are also animated and can be opened via their respective door handle. The bug fix I had put in place for the Hobbs meter seems to be working too now, I welcome your feedback on this 2nd update within 2 weeks of our initial release. Jerome

It’s been another very busy week for us at PILOT’S. Our 3rd B-314 update since the official first release 3 weeks ago was finalized late yesterday, I’m pleased to be able to inform you that PILOT’S B-314 - The Clipper v1.2 is now available! We’ve managed to find a solution for the mooring lines to now show when the B-314 is moored at startup in a Cold & Dark state, they should then release the B-314 once the mooring switch is in the OFF position. As per a customer request, the hide/show yoke clickspots have now been repositioned. I have also taken the hide/show copilot clickspot and moved it to the rudder pedal area, close to the hide/show copilot yoke click…

I've seen some posts regarding the gyropilot, hope this information helps clarify functionality and operability. As it currently stands, the PILOT'S B-314 for MSFS has a basic Gyropilot functionality already implemented, you just need to follow the correct procedure for it to operate correctly. If you are in the left-hand Captain's seat, you need to pressurize the Gyropilot servos by moving the small white lever forward: Once the Gyropilot servos have been pressurized, you will see that the Gyropilot pressure gauges showing this too: Now you can move to the left side, click on the armrest to make the Gyropilot master switch v…

As we now have both the P3D and the MSFS version out in the wild, in future I would be very grateful if you could prefix your support questions with either MSFS or P3D. Thank you. -Dai

Fixes to problems reported in the forum. Fixes apply to both the B-314 and the B314-A unless stated: 1. Fuel gauge needles now show(P)ort and (S)tarboard at night. 2. Yoke less snappy when changing pitch on the gyropilot. It's not completely fixed; we found a possible bug in the sim when attitude hold is switched off. At the point it is switched off and for the next four update cycles the answers returned from calculations for the elevator position in the pitch module are wildly inaccurate, then just as suddenly it settles down to the corrected output again. 3. B314-A - Hobbs meter count not rolling over. 4. B314-A - Mixture levers being held on by a ghost lock…

Apart from IanFisher, is anyone else seeing this happen? Problem is, it is absolutely stable for me and was stable for around a month before release. I left the comment in the Known Problems section because I wasn't actually sure how I'd fixed it. It just 'went away'. I hate it when that happens.

Most important changes: - The startup sequence has been updated inline with new information - see page 42 Hand Pumps. There are now two different Fuel Hand pumps for Port and Starboard engines. See also 'Modern Startup Cheat Sheet' page 9. - Water in fuel tanks - see page 43 'Fuel Selectors', page 45 'Water Drain' and page 48 'Rear Wall'. Note that in the case of the water gauge, this displays that there is a varying quantity of water in the selected tank and not how much water is in the tank. The tank selector is the switch below the dial gauge. Water in the tanks does affect how much fuel you can load. - Weight and Balance sheet - see page 60. On the Prepar3D m…

There is an error in the Modern Startup Cheat Sheet when it comes to starting the engine hand pumps. At the time it was written, the information we had implied that a single hand pump supplied all engines on startup. Since the B-314 was released I found further information that explicitly states that the engine handpumps are a pair on the right side of the Flight Engineer's table. The pump on the left of the pair is for starting engines 1 & 2 and the pump on the right of the pair is for starting engines 3 & 4. The hand pump on the left side of the table is only for draining water from the hydrostabiliser tanks. The information in the 'PILOT'S Boeing B-314 Manual P…

As of the release date for the B-314 Clipper v1.5, Norton Internet Security is treating PILOTS.Setup.exe as a malicious package. This is a FALSE positive. As soon as you run the installer, Norton willl quarantine the executable which, of course, crashes the installation. You willl need to do TWO things to stop Norton from preventing the installation: 1. After PILOTS.Setup.exe has been quarantined, - open Norton in Classic view - select History - in the leftside column click on PILOTS.Setup.exe - in the rightside column click Restore You also need to temporarily turn off Norton Data Protector, otherwise it will try to prevent the in…

A three-part series made by America's PBS about Juan Trippe's determination to cross the Pacific after the British locked him out of the Atlantic route. I found it well worth the three hours to see it all. Apart from the B-314 in the last episode, there are some nice shots of the Sikorsky S40/S42 and the Martin M-130. There is also a fair amount of time devoted to how Pan-Am created the first RDF stations. https://www.pbs.org/video/across-the-pacific-airborne-8ms7qa/ One thing I really like about PBS documentaries is the total lack of adverts, except at the beginning when they list who funded the documentary. It was always my 'go-to' channel during the year I wa…

I've had a small handful of off-forum queries as to why the engines smoke so much in level flight. In all cases it turned out that the person asking the question had the throttles open too far. The checklists for level flight state "Close the throttles to 29" MP or less". At 29" MP in calm weather you will be doing something in the region of 110 mph which is way the wrong side of the green line and your fuel burn will be extremely high. Throttle back to around 85-90 mph which is the speed used by B-314 aircrews as noted in the manual Part 1. This equates to around 24"-25" MP and 1900 RPM in calm weather. As a side note, this also makes the gyropilot easier to use.

It doesn't work with the default Shift+E+n command because the default 'show panel X' gets there first. You have two choices: remove the default panel commands (not recommended) or assign an unused key. I assigned key 6 (why? because it was the first one I thought of that I knew wasn't in use!); 6+n works fine to open all doors.

Calling all Vintage Aircraft Aviators! Today marks a major milestone for PILOT'S and the B314 Development Team! I'm extremely proud to announce the public release of our newest aircraft for Prepar3D v4 and v5, the quintessential flying boat, our Boeing B314 - The Clipper. I would like to thank all of you that have been eagerly awaiting the B314 for so very long for your unfaltering patience. To all of our loyal customers that took advantage of our internal release offer, thank you kindly for your invaluable feedback in these past weeks. I question from a newbie with the 314. How does one find the weatherships when navigating? I entered the frequencies on the ADF but the needles never move. Thanks for any help.

Hi, I'm new to MSFS2020 and have purchased your beautiful Boeing 314 flying boats! In your manual, part 1, you refer to 18 seaplane airports that are available for free after registering on your website or MSFS Marketplace! However, I can't find these seaplane airports in either location?! What can I do? My second question is, under which items can I select the differential motors I need for the four separate engines on my joystick with a single throttle (for all engines)? Regards, Guus from Belgium.

Is there any way to enable this plane to follow a GPS flight plan? When I use the PMS50 as an external autopilot, the Nav function never activates. Altitude and heading holds work fine, but not Nav. It’s really needed for those long over-water flights.
