PILOT’S Boeing B314 – The Clipper

This is the official support forum for the Pilot's Boeing B314 Clipper add-on.

  1. Started by flytriman,

Just downloaded the update and getting ready to fly. I note the manual refers to a "DF Switch" but can't find that. Any help of finding the switch would be appreciated. Also note the "Cockpit Escape Hatch" Switch does not move. The hatch opens and closes but no switch movement. Finally, the manual has a hot link referring to FAQ page. Just took me to the home page but can find no FAQ there. Thanks. Garry

  2. Just in time for the weekend, we are happy to inform you that the v1.1 update for the PILOT'S Boeing B-314 is now available. There has been an extensive overhaul of the VC textures, as per the feedback we received. We have also changed and greatly improved how the flying boat now handles on water, here is short video to illustrate this: A special thanks to Stearman948713 for his tweaking of some of the contact points! I'll leave you with a few screenshots showing the new VC textures. Jerome

Since I have received no assistance, nor a response from the developer, on my reported issues of September 25th I am asking for a full refund on the product. Once the refund is received I will remove the software from my computer. I find the product is not as advertised and is not enjoyable to use. Garry

  4. Have done just a few flights and have some questions on several items that appear to be inop or not working as they should: No Cylinder Head Temperatures...Pyrometer inop. I saw this on some other posts but also saw where it was going to be fixed on the next update. I'm using version 1.62...should it be working? Aileron Trim is reversed. Move it left to lower the right wing and visa-versa ASI reads 10 knots fast compared to what the sim and LNM says. Find I need about 85 - 100 knots (which both the sim and LNM say is 75 - 90 knots) indicated to get it off the water...not the 70 knots referenced in the manual. Pilot's and Engineers Tach's don't…

Hello! I freshly installed P3D v6 on a new PC. But I can't get the Boeing 314 pro to install... I edited the registery and made mklinks from P3D v5 to P3D v6 (again, I just have v6 installed): After 2 min. inside the installer I get these messages : Thank for any help! Barth

  6. I know this is pilot error since no one else has reported this yet. I followed the tutorial to enable the Gyro pilot, however the heading drifts (mostly towards the co-pilot -- starboard) during a flight. My altitude remains rock-solid, so I figure I have part of it (Gyro pilot) enabled correctly. Few things to nte I set the "bypass valves" to their default setting of 3 I trim the aircraft to fly straight and level before enabling the gyro-pilot I enabled the two levers by my seat: Right one first to pressurize the system (wait for pressures to stabilize) Left one to enable GP The plane stays straight for a while, then begins to drift. Is there …

  7. In contrast to planes with wheels, there is a particular noise which flying boats produce at take off and landing. Upon acceleration the noise of water rubbing the hull increases, then just before separating from the water, the wave heads slap the bottom in quick succession, then the noise is gone as the ship climbs into the air. When landing, the same happens in reverse order. The surf lapping at the hull is important for the pilot to know exactly how high above the water the ship is. The Hughes H-4 in MSFS attempts to simulate the water noise somewhat. My sound card does not produce anything similiar in PILOT’S B-314. Or am I missing something?

  8. On the B314 (Not B314A), the EGT gauges seems inop, the drums is stuck at the lowest reading. The Fuel flow gauges seems to be scaled wrong i.e You hardly has to apply any power before they are pegged at the top of their scale. Also the pyrometer (CHT gauge) is inop - any plans to simulate this in MSFS like in the old FS9 version ?

  9. Started by IanFisher,

Hello Dai Is there any reason the Clipper would CTD in version 5.4. I've tried a couple of flights now and CTD both times. Can you confirm it's compatible or do we need a patch? Just asking because RXP, Active Sky, FSLabs all needed a patch but PMDG and A2A did not. Thanks Ian

Hi, when can we expect DF navigation to be implemented? I believe it would be of utmost importance to long range fliers such as myself, who have other business to attend to in the real world and cannot spend the 20 or so hours trying to keep the aircraft on course.

Just doing the update. "you must uninstall previous versions . . ." OK, bit of a pain but. And then it insists on rebooting the PC to "perform last configuration steps" (nothing else running) A bit 1980s, isn't it? Surely this can be avoided.

  15. Started by Cacptain,

Firstly thanks for releasing the Clipper for MSFS, I like it and it has a lot of enjoyment potential. I noticed that after setting the 'normal cruise' settings of 24 MP and 1600 RPM the engineers station showed considerably different readings, and at 8,000ft the airspeed was only around 90kts. Also the mixture lever positions mismatch at the 2 stations. At these settings, the Fuel Flow needles were at the max and only moved (reduced) when I pulled the throttles to around idle or the mixture levers almost to cut off. And the FF needle movement was not smooth, from max to min in about 3-4 steps. And lastly after disconnecting the Gyropilot I had a…

  16. Tonight I started a flight in the MSFS B-314 from Pearl Harbor to Midway. Planned the flight in LNM using dead reckoning, to supplement with sun shots from the CelNav addon. My findings: 1. It's extremely hard to get off the water at max gross. The -314 actually seemed to handle this a bit better than the -314A. Mixture full rich, one notch of flaps (there do not seem to be all the flap positions modeled.). It simply cannot rotate. There is a contact points modification on the MSFS forum that claims to help with this. 2. The artifical horizon only pitches but does not bank in the -314A. This means needle/ball only when IMC. It's been a minute since I did …

  17. Started by Mantock,

Hi folks, I was wondering, with the B314A variant we only get the camo versions of the BOAC liveries, with the P3D variant we got the gray/blue livery. Will that be coming across to MSFS at all? As a lover of BOAC currently our only options are to fly with camo liveries in wartime. Would be nice to fly that non-military BOAC livery if I could. Looking forward to the updates for this as they are released, Thanks, -Peter

  19. Started by IanFisher,

Thanks Dai and anonymous tester for the new patch. Install went well both the 314 and the 314A. Control bindings. I've reverted to the standard P3D bindings because of throttle issues using FSUIPC. All went well in setting it up. Just need to remember to enable the controllers before flight...and disable afterwards. Adding it to the check lists just now. 1. Fuel gauges do show at night. 2. Yoke less snappy. This is very welcome. Nice and smooth now with the Yoke. 3. Hobbs Meter not rolling after 10 hours. Not flown long enough to confirm this yet. 4. No mixture bar in the VC anymore. However Mixture Four leaver has a mind of it's own. If I us…

Hi, if You want to have brighter textures inside of B314 (and not too dark cockpit) this mod will be for You. Now its on SOH only but Id like to add it on Avsim too, link for Download: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php/127287-B314-P3Dv5-cockpit-mod-green .

  23. Started by ghostminer3,

i was flying the 314A and the gyropilot elevator is a bit snappy like when i wanted to descend i would have to put the gyropilot to -2% pitch down before it reacts to it and when it reacts it snaps the yoke forward then i would have to put pitch up to .5% before it reacts to climb and it would snap the yoke back and the servo speed was set to 3 like Sperry recommended in the manuals watch this clip that shows the issue https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1674024545

  24. i think i've found a issue with the meter counting i've noticed during my 18 hour cross the Atlantic ocean in the 314A that the hobbs meters reset to zero after 9.9 hours instead of going to 10.0 hours like in the manuals https://prnt.sc/HXNhNmMjfBkO

  25. Started by IanFisher,

Hello Dai and Stefan After a few hours now with the new update I thought I'd share my findings with you. Installation. Very smooth. Aircraft and documents installed in the correct place and loaded into the sim with no issues. Preflight. The information in the manual is not in a logical order. I understand this is as it was in the origional but to have to wade through 60 pages just to get to the weight and balance section which is one of the first things you need is a bit much. I found part one of the manual very informative and will have this by my bedside for the next few nights. Flight. Initial preperation and engine start no problems once I got used…
