I haven't flown this bird for about 4 years and want to get out of jets for a while. I found an updated file for dynamics on Avsim and put that one in. is there any thing like maybe Burt would of done to upgrade this 500? Thanks Louis CYYC

Hi All. Hoping someone can help me understand a recurring problem I'm having with the Shrike 500S (HD) in FSX. I keep losing power mid-flight and crashing. I'm closely following the procedures defined in the manual. Nothing I've tried seems to help. It happens at various power settings, various altitudes and in various weather conditions. It last happened at cruise power, at an altitude of 3,500 ft, cowl flaps closed, mixture set as appropriate (automix OFF). I watched the gauges and at the point I heard the engine tone shift, all gauges seemed to be giving optimal readouts. Hello Guys/Gals This is my first attempt to clean up an aircraft. In this case the Shrike. It is an old plane, but IMHO it was neglected. I didn't make or aimed for a pristine interior, after all this is a 50 year old plane. I cleaned the Panel, Carpet, Seats, Side & Door Panels and something more here an there. Of course it has mistakes (I'm not a Painter) Night textures included, but those are still in progress. If You like what You see please download the zip file and read the Readme. After a short shake down flight I've seen a few things that have not been mentioned in other threads yet. 1. Hideous interior engine sound glitch that repeats when engines are at idle. 2. Sim starts with engines running with both overhead fuel shutoff switches in the off position. Even after selecting ready to taxi. 3. Lettering on overhead panel that says "Elevador Trim"

It certainly is a fantastic looking aircraft. Had been on my wish list for years. I know its and old model, but it does not deserve to be neglected, so I sent it to the MRO for an interior overhaul. Won't be immaculate, though. This is WIP, not done yet. Before Cockpit Before Cabin WIP Cockpit (Still needs sandblasting oxide and some paint, here and there) WIP Cabin Thanks for watching. I am thoroughly pleased with the handling characteristics of the AC 500S as released. I am no Bob Hoover or Dave Womacks but aerobatics in the Shrike are superb. However, just as in real life, we always want more performance for our aircraft. Merlyn Products have been making after market turbo charger for decades. I was thinking about the engine sounds in FSX/P3D on constant speed prop airplanes. The sound pitch always changes with throttle changes like the airplanes have fixed pitch props. Then it dawned on me that a sound file that changed pitch with prop RPM and changed volume with throttle setting is what is needed to make a proper sound configuration file for a constant speed prop. Problem is.....FSX/P3D doesn't allow that. So....it got me thinking. Could I move some of the engine sounds from the combustion section into the prop section and would it make it more realistic. I have done a couple of airplanes now and one of them is the 500S. I think it is much more realist…

Hi all, Not sure this is a problem or just normal. During normal flight I setup the prop and power levers, but when I put back on the mixture levers to lean it out a bit there is no change in the gauges to indicate the change. I think all other Carenado aircraft show change when mixture is changes. C337 has a noticeable change in engine sound and run. Thanks Dick

Since Prepar 3d 3 ( now I use the fourth release) I receive this advise from simulator: "Camera definitions need to have a valid category ( File--camera:\C:\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4\SimObjects\Airplanes\Carenado Aero_Commander_500S\aircraft--CameraDefintion.XXX)..... what does it mean? The new Carenado Aero Commander Shrike 500 is a great plane, but some of us (me included) thought that the interior, here especially the carpets, is a bit too much on the rough side. This new interior replaces the carpets, gives a fresh paint to the column of the yoke and brightens the interior somewhat. Milton Shupe has developed the original AC500 for FS9 and has given her a wooden panel as alternative option. That is why I have included a wooden panel here too. The worn leather has not been touched. Also the Carenado Beech C90B King Air has received a cabin upgrade. The panel has the same wood and the cabin shows now a two-tone leather interior. Hey guys, I've done a small update to the common textures for the AC500 to reduce the 4096 images to 2048 and added mipmaps so that they render better in VR for those of us flying the AC 500 with fly-inside. Make a backup of your textures.common folder first, then overwrite it with the textures contained in this zip file to optimize your VR experience. Dropbox link

I recently bought the Shrike, and it is a fun and easy aircraft to fly... during the day. But my biggest complaint with it is the cabin lighting, which to me, looks terrible and is not really good enough to fly the aircraft at night. There is just not enough ambient light in the cabin. Many switches and controls (e.g. cowl flaps) remain completely in darkness with the cabin lights on. I've seen other Carenado and Alabeo aircraft with much better cabin lighting, so I'm a bit disappointed with what seems like a slap-dash effort here. Also, why does clicking the captain's spotlight turn on the lights for the entire cabin, including passengers? And the panel lighting brightne…

When I installed it I never got the option of installing my GTN750 in it. So when I read the documents it said to double click on F1GTN750PA32.exe. I did a search of my entire PC and no such file exists. How do I install the GTN in this plane? Thanks. Jack

Maybe I'm missing something but I cannot get the props to feather using either the mouse or the prop lever. I can shut down the engine with the mixture, back down the throttle to the stop but the prop still windmills. I can get it just a tad below the line in the VC showing Feather range but not below. And the prop will continue to windmill However, if I also press SHIFT F2 on the keyboard, it will immediately feather the selected prop. I use FSUIPC to map all buttons and axis. Can't find anything in the documentation about a prop lock or stop - have I missed it? Thanx, Vic
