DX-10 Discussions, Hints and Help

I am a recent convert to DX10 and its been awesome. Only issue I have is that oddly when swapping to full screen the screen size become slightly smaller than when not in full screen mode. Is this normal?? I have only used the freeware shader package so far.

Hi Everyone, thinking of switching to dx10, I have read Paul's excellent guide but just wanted to know this. Do I need to install the 3.22 patch prior to purchasing Steve fixer or can I just purchase Steve fixer only, set my FSX to DX10 preview and install Steve fixer as a complete package and not worry about the 3.22 shader patch. In other words does this contain everything that I would require. Many thanks

Are any DX10 users out there using REX4 water animations? As usual their promo stuff shows the best of the best, but overall with your experiences do the DX10 water animations: Look great? Have the wind sensitive whitecaps? Have no or very light impact of FPS? Currently using REXE overdrive, but have abandoned using everything except its clouds, sun and runway/taxiway textures since I find that all other textures/animations are either worse, or at least no better than, the stock FSX DX10 textures/animations. I'm hoping that REX4 brings to FSX more DX10 worthy stuff than REXE did; if it does, I got my cursor on the 'buy now' button. BTW, for DX9 REXE was completely wond…

Downloaded from the Flight Sim Store (v1.3) yesterday and was suprised that it worked rather well with the VRS Superbug, only thing is the FLIR does not work in DX-10 mode but that is a minor issue as I can target through the ground radar, etc. I find that setting buffer pools to zero or having the reject thresh-hold at 256 and Sparse 4x SS the best for frames! Other minor gitches are when panning around I get momentary black tiles and obljects that are black for a short time before they get refreshed (re-darawn) with the appropraite texture color.. but this can be avoided by not panning around so much.. hehe One more thing... Hi everyone, Just a quick question, is it easy to revert back tp DX9 mode If i have problems with DX10? does it change any core files etc or does it only add new shader files?

hi Gentleman, I'm using Fsx with steves dx10 fixer and 8xsgss. I have nice 27-30 fps when there are not much clouds but as you all know when there are a lot of clouds my frames drop down to 14-21 fps. I'm using rex4 1024 dxt5 clouds. Since i have a gtx780 sli i'm wondering if there is any posibility to get the sli running for sgss? I know i dont get more frames but i think 2 780 should be able to handle 8xsgss and i hope in this case that even with clouds i will stay at 30 fps. Hi Avsim members!, I'd like to resolve this problem of mine that i don't have clue of how. So when i check the DX10 preview it runs smoothly and great but the problem is some of the addon sceneries have issues with lights as in Mega airport Zurich and Dubai rebooted. I'd like to get that done fixed if that's possible, also i want to uncheck DX10 preview and play instead of having scenery issues but the main issue is that it starts to glitch when i ALT+Tab during flights.. Hello, Was a fix ever discovered for the artifacts appearing using DX10 and ATI cards? I tried the DX10 fixer and was very happy with it, but about 20 minutes into a flight i started to get (at first) a small number of artifacts appearing, eventually these take over the entire screen (save the aircraft which is unaffected). I did try removing the shader for the Water and Clouds, neither made a significant difference. In the end i gave up and went back to DX9, i would prefer DX10. ATI 7970 Ghz edition screen resolution 5760x1080 (eyefinity)..i accept this may be the issue.

Hi All, I have carefully read, re-read and then installed Steves DX10 Fixer and run the Shader updater. Also set NVI as per instructions on the forum here. Started up FSX and went to St Maarten (Aerosoft) and I see a large green square sitting at the runway threshold. I can fly through it. Shows up both in day and night. Have I missed something or is this a known issue and is there a workaround? A quick Google did not bring up anything. Thanks!

I just purchased the DX10 fixer a few days ago and so far I have been really satisfied. It has taken a while to tweak, but so far I'm seeing better fps and smoothness for the most part. My problem (and I'm sure this has been answered but couldn't find it): Whenever I'm on a runway and dust/snow starts to kick up behind the plane, my fps will drop (around 10 fps). It will do this even when I'm in the cockpit and the effects are not in sight. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there are way to turn this off? I'm using REX 2.0 (I'm too cheap to upgrade) and Opus for weather. I'm running a 2500K @4.4 with an old GTX460.

So, I was a little ###### off since I knew 13.9 and 13.10 categorically are broken with FSX. Now comes Battlefield 4 and the only way the game will run on my machine (2x 6870HD) is with 13.10 beta 2. So now I'm stuck. I either have 13.4 and get FSX but no BF3, or 13.10 and get BF4 but not FSX. Angered, I head off to work. I've been reading about the DX10 scenery fixer. So I have been tinkering with DX10 now and then with Paul's documents, but eventually went back to DX9. Had FSX for 3 months, came across this forum by chance followed the "How to" document and never looked back. Thanks Paul J, Steve FX and Charles E (AMD guru). Installed the update for Steve's DX10 Fixer the other day. I live in Anchorage so always flying in snow/clouds etc.. Only have default weather set at "winter wonderland". The least realistic part of my setup is the scenery. Anyhow guys, just wanted you to know, your efforts are appreciated.

I've turned on the preview of dx 10, the supposed fix. but most of my textures disappeared, and the only fix is to uncheck dx 10 how do i fix this?

I just got a new GTX 780 and it has made a world of difference in FSX. I'm coming from an ATI 7770 and the difference is night and day. I did a flight this morning on vatsim and decided to see how the sim would perform with fraps recording and it did great. Here is small snippet. I'm running ASN, FTXGlobal and REX4

How do we know we have the latest version of the DX10 fixer- will the program tell us, or is there someplace we should be checking every so often. I currently have 1.3 build 34 installed.

I seem to have lost the ability to control the amount of bloom. Using the DX10 fixer sliders for reflective and lights has no effect in FSX. I then uninstalled the libraries, then uninstalled DX10 fixer, restored default ShadersSHSL files and installed latest version of DX10 fixer. Still no change. What am I missing ? Thanks

Hi. Really getting tired of messing with this sim and moving on. I have a 4.8 OC PC and lucky if I get 10fpm in bad weather. I`ve tried so many suggestions. I`m running new Rex4 textures with ASN. NVidea Inspector is killing my PC. I have a GTX560ti which is not a bad GPU, but an upgrade to anyother is silly money, and I will need a bigger power supply on top of that. I dont really understand how the AA settings work, which doesn`t help. Think I should concentrate on my guitar and let this go.... :-(

Hi, Previously VSync would work the same in DX10 as in DX9. Today I gave DX10 another try and to my surprise VSync wasn't working. Checked Insector and it was on Standard and 1/2 refresh rate. Went back to DX9 and it was all fine again. FPS is set to unlimited because you won't have a FPS loss and VSync will be just as smooth (for me). Still tried to set it at 30 just in case that was the cause, but then still, it wouldn't work. Any ideas?

Hi. I`ve struggled to get a compromise with Frame rates and Nvidea Inspector, and so i`ve put it back to standard. My frame rates now have gone up quite a bit, and I`ve upped the cloud resolution, and AA on DX10 payware addon. All is good, until I cross any water. The surface just shimmers away. I dont get this shimmering any other time. Is there any way I can reduce the shimmering, and not lean onto Nvidea Inspector too heavily? Hope that makes sense?
