  1. Hi- Just installed P3DV2 and am looking to install ORBX NA Norcal scenery (I live there). I'm coming from FSX where a long time ago I did this with Megascenery but have forgotten the exact procedure. I current have P3D and FSX on an SSD that's filling up. Anyway, does ORBX scenery permit this? Anyone have a recommended procedure that I could follow? Thanks! Mark

  2. Dear All, I hope this does not sound too much like a stupid idea but I think it would be helpful for everyone in order to find the sweet spot to know what settings have most impact on the frame rate in P3D 2.2. As we all have different systems we need to differentiate between features that are hard on the CPU and features that are hard on the GPU. Also: Some of the features in the P3D2 User Interface (UI – aka drop-down menu) are clearly described while other are not. I (for example) don’t understand what the “Special Effects” do or what is a “Shadow Map Count” and are they rendered by the CPU or the GPU and how do they impact fps? Certainly it would be ideal if …

  3. I've been using NI with P3Dv2, and its helped in certain regards, particularly reducing some texture flickering in the Alabeo YMF-5. However, now that we are at P3Dv2.2, I see a lot of people are recommending doing away with NI altogether and just relying on 'in-sim' settings, and maybe a config tweak or two. So, what I want to do is to be able to run P3D completely uninfluenced by NI, and then apply NI's settings in order to see what difference they make...and then go back to no-NI settings again. Is this possible ? I bet its something basic that I've missed. Any advice gratefully received.

    Started by Guest,

During my flights today I decided to try some other settings than the once I've been using since I got P3D (and which always worked best for me). First I removed the AF=15 tweak from my system, so now I am using P3D v2.2 without any tweaks! Secondly I decided to see what happened if I set fps to unlimited and turn off vsync (and triple buffering). Unlimited etc. didn't really work that well for me in the past but I thought it was worth giving it a shot since this is a new version. Holy cow!!! In the places where I usually fly (rural, bush) fps stays above 40 easily with the settings you can see below, which are, in some places, quite high (inmho), like autogen at …

I have GTX 660 Ti Overclocked Processor i 7 4770k @ 3.5ghz Ram 16GB Windows 7 64 bit Prepar 3D 2.2 runs great but , as everyone knows the shadows drops fps, in my case up to by 50% in bad weather. Will a GTX 780Ti make a big difference and be able to handle the cloud and terrain shadows?

I uninstalled FSX. I'm prepared to commit fully to P3D. I know it will mean losing out on some of my add-ons, but that has happened before with FS9 and I got over it. I'm sure I'll get over this too. Thanks

  8. I've been sitting on the sidelines (weird...right?) watching all the excellent vids and pics coming out of P3D. What airplanes are you folks flying and how's it handling it? I am interested in flying the RealAir Dukes and, perhaps, the Carenado C337 in it. Gregg

Has anyone successfully installed the C340? As I dont have FSX installed the installer fails even though I have a dummy fsx.exe file on my P3D root folder. It may be because I'm still using the original C340.exe from 2011. Does anyone know if simmarket or flightsimstore.com have updated installers fro P3D? Cheers eric

So far I've been flying only smaller aircrafts, mostly Carenado and I'm currently doing up experience with the c90B and B1900D, but I'm also looking to take the step up to a serious airliner. I'm thinking about a Boeing 737, but I lack all knowledge about what addons are out there, what difficulty level which type of 737 is and if the addons are any good. Could someone advise me so I can make the right choice for an addon that would fit me? Is there any difficulty difference between for example a 737-300 and a 737-800? Or might I as well go for the 800/900 at once, instead of starting with a 300/400? Which brand and model should I buy to make the most out of it, wi…

  11. Hi, How about a series of threads with you hardcore testers were you can direct fellow simmers in a direction to start with Prepard3DV2.2 ?. I am a new in P3DV2 and have my knowledge in FSX for now, but a cool vision and goal could be : @30fps achieved with and without traffic.(default Baron and Q400 for instance) Maximum PC anno 2014: (with FTX products) * Haswell/GTX Titan/780TI/780 or ATI R290 Medium PC anno 2013: * I7-2600/GTX680 and ATI HD7970/R8 Low-end: (without FTX Products) I7-920-990X/GTX580 Keep threads as simple as possible because its just for starters So many parametre to adjust .... Michael

Developer is a new maker and therefore don`t know what to think on the plane. Also, no developers website, no forums - only you can contact the e-mail. Please comment!

  15. Started by liquidate,

I've got a clean install of Prepar3D 2.2 (academic license and no mods installed) and Track IR 5.2 with the latest game updates applied. Unfortunately, I can't seem to get Track IR to recognize P3D. I've tried starting both apps "as administrator" and starting one before the other. In all cases, if I look in Track IR the title section is "None." and only one green light on the Track IR camera is on. I know Track IR is working, as I'm able to start Aerofly FS and tracking is enabled immediately. Am I missing something here? Any help appreciated.

  18. Seems like i have both files with rather same information in it. At least it starts with xml version 1.0 . Some add-ons are not in the exe.xml (FSX version)( but vice versa.) .exe.xml did not exist on clean install of P3Dv2 but after i manually startet EZCA after P3DV2 launch there is now also a .exe.xml now. FSUIPC and EZCA has now entrys in both xml but they do not start with P3DV2 on launch (the add-on menu is not in P3Dv2) What is wrong ? Michael

Hi people. Just wondering if someone could help with a few questions to point me in the right direction as I’m seriously considering P3D. I called them Newbie questions in the topic title as I never bothered upgrading from FS9 so I’m definitely short on the knowledge which other people might take for granted if you've spent a few years tinkering with FSX. For instance there’s a few words and phrases such as “migration tool” and “orbx” which have never been anything to concern myself with previously but I’m getting the idea that I should now. So what should I be looking at and trying to educate myself about to enhance my new P3D experience do you think? Possibly …

  25. Does P3D crash when you try to LOAD/SAVE from the menu? Do you have World of AI packages installed? Mine did and after hours of investigation and countless crashes I have traced the problem back to 3 WoAI packages which have missing entries in the aircraft.cfg file. All of the packages use the WoA_HTAI_DHC6 model and are: Air Iceland Air Greenland TMK Air Commuter In the aircraft.cfg file the relevant [fltsim.n] section has a missing texture assignment. Simply adding the =(texture folder name here) will sort the problem. Be sure to only add the equals folder name eg. =FNA-Air Iceland. Do not add the texture. prefix. Strangely this mis…
