  1. HI guys,I´m having an iPhone now since some time and I mostly surf the net with it while flying greater distance. But this currently only goes over UMTS and it therefore somehow slow and will eat my bandwith. So I thought about adding a PCI card or something else to my computer/internet access which allows me wo make a WLAN network in my room. Normally I would use our router (which has a WLAN function) but it´s standing in the cellar and theres´no way of removing the router from there and the signal can´t come up to me. 3 concrete floors are just too much to get an usable signal.so I´m searching for a card or something else with that I can share my internet access in my r…

I run two Windows 7x64 machines with static IP address fed by a Netgear router. When I start the remote machine to FSX, the internet connection always fails. When I check the IPV4 properties for the network connector, the gateway IP address is always blank. Once I enter the Netgear router's address, all is well until I shutdown and restart at which point the gateway IP address will be blank once again.Any reason why the IP address will not remain?

  4. Hi,I have set up a home network between my old XP Pro (32 bit) machine and my new Vista Home Premium (64 bit) machine.I have also set up both computers to take use of WideFS when the Vista machine will be the FS (server) and the XP machine the WideFS Client machine for FS 2004.All WideClient applications that I have tried so far; ASv6.5, RCv4.3, AISmooth, AISeparation are all running fine one by one or all simultaneosly, however; only for 31/2 to 5 minutes when the applications loose contact with FS although WideClient states that it is connected. The WideClient is at that time frozen though and to get it up and run again I will ahve to reboot the WideClient machine.I a…

I have created home networks before but am at a loss here.My Win 7 machine can see and share the files on the XP-Pro machine while the XP-Pro machine can see the Win7 machine and the shared drives and directories, it cannot access them. Keeps giving me a permissions error on the XP-Pro machine. They are both on the same home workgroup and I have allowed file sharing on both? What am I missing?ThanksRick S.

So my 4 port x wifi router is maxed out on wired connections so I need to add a switch. Is it needed to use a switch from the same manufacturer as the router? I'm thinking no but would like any other advice. This is for 100/10 as my router isn't Gigabit. Though I'm also thinking about upgrading my router (currently on a somewhat old Linksys WRT 54G). I'm thinking about an 8 port switch, but from what I've seen typical an 8 port only give 7 "real" added ports (and then you lose one on the router so you only are adding 6 ports effectively). Downstream thinking, the way I have my house wired I might need to add a second switch to support my home theater setup. So might…

Hi,I use 3 computers for FSX, each with a usb wireless adaptor. My main wireless box is 30 foot away (ATT U-Verse), and my widefs and simconnect clients communicate wireless. I was wondering if the speed of comms is an issue? There are times when response with some client applications seems slow, but difficult for me to tell where the bottleneck is. I cannot run cables from the main wireless router to these machines but was wondering if there is a way to direct connect these machines together and still have the wireless connection for internet? I have an old dlink switch I was wanting to use but I would still have 3 usb wireless connectors on each machine. That confused…

This may be a shot in the dark but it is my last option.I have a router that works perfectly with my iphone, so i know the router is functional, however when i try to get my laptop to work with it all it says is limited connectivity or something rather, so i cant get on the internet, but i know the router is functional as i stated before it works flawlessly on my iphone. Anyone run into this or have any ideas. Thanks and i hope someone has a magical fix for this as it is driving me insane.

Hi all,My Linksys WRT54G wireless router decided to quit on me. It won't power up anymore and Linksys tech support is out of ideas. I know absolutely nothing about wireless routers other than that I need another one. The one I'm using, or used to use I should say, was a wireless G, but it would appear that all of the devices I use it with accept wireless N. This includes a second desktop PC, laptop, Playstation 3, XBox 360 (with the adapter), Nintendo Wii, and my television. Any reason why I shouldn't go with a wireless N? Would I be just as good replacing what I have with the same thing - it has worked great until recently. I've concluded (perhaps incorrectly?) that I ne…

Since changing my network to run through a router I now have to start and then restart my pc (Server) to get my browser to run.If I try and start it straight away it will sit there - "Looking up" my homepage, and then gives me the "Page not found" screen. If I reboot it will then start first time.Sometimes the same thing will happen with my laptop (Client) though not always.Sometimes I can start the browser on the Server after starting it on the Client though not always.Any ideas?Nicholas.

For the past two years, I have been using cable internet service, and my ISP has provided me with Netgear WCR614 routers. These consistently start failing only a few months after I get them (wireless network and internet connection drop out) to the point where I have been through eight or nine of these routers since I started using the service. Every time I have the problem, I have to go upstairs, unplug the router from it's power adapter, and plug it back in again. Sometimes it starts working again, and other times I have to reset it multiple times. Since I was told that it is because my ISP uses refurbished routers, I bought a brand new one of the same model from Best B…

  19. I have an ASUS P5E3 802.11g Wifi motherboard. I think the adapter may be dead. Have any of you heard of the following happening:1. you install OS, set up your Wifi, and connect to the 'net. Download all SP's etc. Everything is working great.2. you hook up your USB external hard drive, to copy some other files to the new machine.3. The Wifi quits working. You go to Control Panel|Device Manager and see that the "802.11g Wireless Adapter" entry is not merely flagged, but it is completely GONE. Hmm...4. You unhook the USB hard drive, and reboot, hoping that will wake up the Wifi. No go.5. You attempt to rescan hardware to see if the OS can find the adapter. No go.…

I have a D Link D1524 Wireless router hard cabled to my computer and wireless connected to my wife's laptop.Almost every morning, the laptop cannot access the net. Solution is to momentarily unplug/replug the router from the 110v power supply. Then rest of the day everything is AOK- despite frequent shutdowns/bootups on the laptop.I've now taken to routinely unplugging the router momentarily at night after I've shut down my FS 'puter. This works fine- unless I forget to do it- then I get a hostile shout from the kitchen next AM!Any easy solutions? Questions on setting up a 2 PC network for FSUIPC WIDEFS or WIDEFS7.I would like to get ActiveSky and FlightSim Commander onto a client PC.Background:I had a 2 PC Ethernet network several years ago using a ZNET Router. An old PC and a new Dell PC both with Windows XP.Basically, I just used the network for file transfers setting up the new PC.Never used the newwork for Flight Sim.The two PCs were cabled to the router. The router went to a Comcast cable modem. The Comcast cable modem went to the Internet.Every few days I had to power down the Z NET router and Cable modem.Because, as I understand it, the Cable Company would check their system and thinkthere was a problem and re…

Hi Guys,Wanted to throw this out to you fellow simmers who are also pretty good at simple home network set-ups. Simply put, I have a desktop and a laptop both running XP Pro through a wired network via a router. I use 'Simple File Sharing'. Use to work fine for months but now I can only share a drive(s) on my laptop. But when I try to share a drive on my desktop I get an error message (don't have the exact error message in front of me), from the laptop basically say I don't have permission and then a strange line that says I don't have enough room on the server?... or something to that effect. I will get the exact wording later today but thought I would through this …

  23. I have a new Wifi 802.11n network which so far is working well, but with a few questions. I have 2 PC's (WinXP), neither of which natively support Wifi, so I have added a Sabrent USB-802N Wireless 802.11n USB adaptor to both of them. Network connectivity is good. However, unlike a Vista laptop and a new iMac, the PC's seem to need a log-in to the Wifi network once they are re-started. I have a WPA /WPA2 key for network security, which may be a part of the need to log in every time.Is there a way to make the PC log in automatically? if there is, I'm not sure if this is a function of the XP system (Wifi properties), or on the Wifi adaptors. I think that a part of the …
