Hi, Looking for advice for an ethernet switch to keep my speed up. Im in UK and use cable for broadband. My router shows me getting a download speed of 165mb/s and at each ethernet point in my house im still getting 165mb. My router only has 4 connections and at at least 1 point i need more hence the need for a switch. Can anyone offer any advice on a good switch make, that will maintain my speed, and has up to 8 connection points Minimum points required is 5 Many thanks

The issue started yesterday after Win10 was updated. On PC1 (client) I have secondary programs that run and PC2 (server) houses the sim. I realized I had network issues as I could no longer see PC2 on the network page of PC1 in Windows explorer yet PC2 does list itself and PC1 on its network page. I tried rolling the Windows Update back, reset the network, reset the modem but that did not help. In desperation I ran a Windows repair program that ran in safe mode and that did not help. I am really at a loss here. Anyone have any ideas? Thank you, Robert

Hello, I am setting up two computers following Frooglesim's video. Question I have is on my Gaming (Froogle calls Main) computer is where FSX is used. On my Main (networked) computer is where the programs are that I want to run. How do I open those programs on the Main computer and use them while sitting at the Gaming computer? Computers are in separate rooms. I have FSX running on an SSD drive and have shared the drive with the Main computer. Angelo

As the title says I'm interested in what you pay to get fiber to your house! I work for an ISP here in Finland and finance my addiction to flightsimming by selling our fiber connections in my free time and some say it's soo expensive. In my small town of 13,000 inhabitants it costs 295 euros (approx USD 320) to get fiber installed and that's the total sum, ie it includes the fiber converter and everything involved in getting the fiber cable into your house and the service working. In the rural area it costs between 495 euro (USD 530) if the area is "fiber planned" to 1995 euro (USD 2150). It's difficult finding updated info on what it costs in other areas/countries and i…

Happily, we will be moving in to our first house very soon. This means that for the first time I will need to actually sort out and setup a home network rather than just moving in to an apartment already setup for internet. I was hoping and solicity a few thoughts: 1. Does anyone have any thoughts on buying or own modem? Our service will be through Comcast. I generally am not a fan of renting equipment and would prefer to buy. However, we will likely be doing our "landline" through Comcast as well and I seem to remember this requires their modem, as modems from Netgear/Linksys/etc don't have the 4 wire phone jack. 2. Our home will be heavily wireless, but w…

Hey Guys n Gals! I have a new PC on the way, and I am hoping to network them. I have read the appropriate threads and watched You Tube vids on FSUIPC4, Wide FS 7 & some SimConnect items. I am still unclear on: * Can I network Windows 10 Home with Windows 7 Home Premium? ---> Do I need to have Windows 10 PRO on one or both PCs to network them? ---> Do I need/would it be better to have Windows 10 Home on both PCs? Old PC: i7 2600 3.4 GHz, 8Gs mem, NVidia 530 GT 2G, Corsair 700, Antec 1200, 1000w PSU, Win 7 Prem New PC: i7 7700K, 4.7 GHz, 32Gs mem, NVidia 1080Ti 11G, Liquid Cooled, OEM case & PSU, Win 10 Home I own registered copies of …

We recently moved in to a new house. This house has never had a connection from anyone and to bring the connection from our local box requires boring under a neighbors driveway. We live in Indiana where the current high is 11 degrees and we're told they might be able to do this, or might have to wait until April when it's warmer. We're looking for other options for internet. For a couple months we can live with slower internet (no streaming, etc), but I do use it for "on-call" at work to review records over a VPN connection. So it is important for us to have internet. Does anyone have any thoughts or options? We have looked in to satellite, but all the opti…

Hi, Hope someone can offer suggestions on an issue that has happened with my network. I don't know what i've done or if windows has done something but i can now no longer access one of my harddrives on my main pc from my laptop. I have 2 drives that i've set to be readable/ write to from my laptop, one still works fine but the other says i do not have permission to access it. As far as i can tell the drive i cannot access from the laptop looks the same as the drive I can access permissions wise but I may be missing something obvious as i know very little about networking I updated my laptop a while back to windows 10 home but my main pc is still runni…

Hi all, After my holiday I wanted to make a flight in my home cockpit ( server + client ). My netwerk has always worked correctly. When I started ASP4 on my client I got an error message that it could not detect P3Dv4. After checking it seemed that the client could not see the server anymore. Only itself. The server is able to see itself and the client too.All shared folders on both pc's are still there. I did reset the netwerk on both pc's and had the Firewall disabled. The issue remains . On both pc's ip4 is enabled and port 445 open. Filesharing still enabled on both pc's. I am really puzzeled now. Tried for 4 hours but no relief. Also I t…

I'm stumped. I have new client (Win 10 Home) that I successfully installed ASP3dV4. I have mapped drives to the files on the P3dV4 server (Win 10 Pro) which are accessible and listed when viewing 'This PC' from the desktop. The first run of AS ask for the location of the sim and data files, however, the list of files AS shows does not include the mapped drives. Same thing with Proatc folder paths. I can access P3dv4 via a drill down on 'Network' but when I attempt to add it to the P3dv4 path only the folders are listed and not individual files. I can access the mapped drives and sitll have Active Sky P3dv4 running from my old Win 7 client. Since I see the mappe…

I turned firewall off, did not work. Https: site is blocked. Even with IE. I cannot unblock it. I am at odds end now! Flight1 support did not help me either. Nice of them. What should I do now? This problem does not go away. Please help me.

I'm trying to extend our wifi signal to reach the garden (we have massively thick stone walls). The plan was to use 'powerline wifi extenders', placing one in the outside shed to supply the garden. I ordered the wrong item however, and now have a pair of powerline ethernet extenders instead of wifi extenders. Just wondering..... Rather than return or sell them, losing out, would it work if I used and old switched router connected to the shed extender, and if so, would i be able to use the same SSID?

I'm trying to restore an older Windows XP Dell Dimension 3000 PC for my nephew... Windows XP restored fine from recovery partition and all SEEMS ok. However, when I plug in the Ethernet cable, I cannot get the PC to 'see' the internet. My other PCs (Win10&7) on the network see it, and vice versa, but it wont go online. Its been a good number of years since working on an XP machine. I've tried many settings to no avail, including disabling the Windows firewall. My Router/Hub sees the PC and allocates an IP address, and all 'pings' work both ways. ANY and ALL help much appreciated as my young nephew is getting very impatient;-)

I have two Win10 PCs setup exactly the same; named PC1 and PC2. Both have EXACTLY the same options selected in Network setup, and both are on EXACTLY the same Workgroup. I can ‘ping’ each PC from the other using the Command Prompt. PC1 can access the Public folder on PC2, but not the other way round. Although PC2 ‘sees’ PC1, when I try to access it, I get “Windows cannot cannot access \\PC1” Selecting “Diagnose”, it says “Your computer appears to be correctly configured, but PC1 is not responding”. Any ideas please?

I posted this in the Aivlasoft forum also but figured it would not hurt to post here also! I keep on getting this error when using EFB. I have uninstalled and reinstalled EFB, but the error is still there. I have uninstalled and reinstalled SimConnect but still get the error. I have tested my network and all is working good, able to open create and delete files on both systems so my shared files are ok! Simconnect is working good since I use AS16 and I do not get disconnected. I know that Simconnect is only used to connect EFB to P3Dv3.4. If only running EFB Display on my Slave PC and only running the Provider on my Master PC they both connect but after a few …

I've been using FSXFlight for a couple years now to interface FSX and now P3D with ForeFlight. Haven't had a problem until recently (and haven't changed anything that I'm aware of). When running FSXFlight in Broadcast mode, the position information displayed in FF is incredibly delayed (sometimes by minutes). However, if I have FSXFlight send the data direct to my iPad's IP address, it's normal. Don't have a major problem pointing it direct to my iPad. Just became a pain when I was flying and "simulated" an iPad failure and brought my second iPad up for practice. Is there something that could be causing the delay in Broadcast mode? I haven't changed anything r…

I recently built a Haswell E (4790K) rig. My plan was to network the new computer (with FSX installed) with my older Ivy Bridge rig with the ancillary programs I use. I suppose my overall networking assumptions are wrong. I assumed you would have the processing power of two computers able to share files and programs between each other. On my FSX computer, I have a 1TB SSD exclusively used for FSX. My OS is on another SSD. The Ivy Bridge rig has a 500GB SSD that all the other FSX programs will run. It's OS is also on a separate SSD. I have tried direct connection using USB and ethernet patch cords. I currently have the two computers networked through my r…

I had a 100Mbit switch before and recently updated to a netgear 8port gigabit ethernet switch... my mac laptop and imac are able to access my home network fine and the internet no problems. It's only my Windows 10 machine that is acting strange. I am using wired connection. I performed some tests, I can access google.com and youtube.com but when attempting to connect to other websites, it gives me dns errors and cannot find what's causing this. I've always had a static IP assigned to my Windows machine and before installing my new switch, all was fine. I've tried pinging my other computers on my local network, and I get no response back. But if I go to my network …

Hello all network geeks .... kind of "out of options" This is the situation Got few NODS FSX-Rig Master where FSX installed FSX-Rig2 Got Widfs Simconnect for over the LAN apps ( both are functioning) No access issues from FSX-Rig to any other NOD so outbound seems good Though I can ping from any NOD to FSX-Rig and packets are going through I can't see FSX-Rig computer I open Full Map, from FSX-Rig2 and I can see FSX-Rig but when moving the cursor doesn't change it's shape to Hand, so obliviously something is wrong So very limited inbound connection Running WIN7 64Bit Running TCP Over NetBios Tried to disable Firewall So there are some app…

So, I'm trying to network two computers. Anyways, my main computer is wired directly to the router and therefore does not have an available Ethernet slot. How would I go about setting up a network with a second computer? Would I be able to put an Ethernet splitter on the back of my main PC and then run a crossover cable to the other computer as well, while still using the internet on the main computer? Regards, Rob

Switched from IE10 to IE11 and the multi-quote, selective quote and quote no longer work. The buttons appear on each post by members. They just don't work. Any ideas? Thank you. Edit - Never mind. Sorry to bother this forum.
