  3. Name: Basic Aerobatic Practice out of KBVU - by Bruce Williams Category: Training Videos Date Added: 31 January 2014 - 03:49 PM Submitter: Tom Allensworth Short Description: None Provided Another flight in the Extra 300L out of Boulder City, NV (KBVU) to practice basic aerobatic maneuvers and start tuning up for the summer. The video shows a typical sequence of maneuvers, including rolls of various types, half-Cuban 8s, hammerheads, etc. I also flew an "umbrella," a maneuver that's not in the official catalog. From a vertical up-line, I started an easy roll and then spun off the top. I hadn't flown one in a long while, so it wasn't pretty, but I'll keep worki…

  4. Name: A Typical Aerobatic Practice Flight - by Bruce Williams Category: Training Videos Date Added: 31 January 2014 - 12:21 PM Submitter: Tom Allensworth Short Description: None Provided This video shows a typical practice flight in the Extra 300L out of KBVU, from engine start to landing--trimmed to emphasize the aerobatic maneuvers. I flew a series of maneuvers, including aileron and 4-point rolls, half-Cuban 8s, and vertical rolls. Keen observers will note that my avalanches (loops with snap rolls on top) need work--but that's why we practice, especially after being away from acro for a while. My umbrella (not a competition figure) was also sloppy (but fun…

Note that we've discussed the planned maneuvers on the ground before takeoff and completed a safety briefing at the aircraft. View Video

  6. Name: Accelerated Stalls in the Vertical - by Bruce Williams Category: Training Videos Date Added: 31 January 2014 - 12:15 PM Submitter: Tom Allensworth Short Description: Stalls can happen at any speed. Bruce's video makes the point. Published on Jan 30, 2014 By: Bruce Williams and BruceAirFlying "Pilots know that you can stall the wing at any airspeed and in any flight attitude. A stall is all about angle of attack. But it's hard to demonstrate the concept in a typical normal-category airplane. In this video, I show a series of accelerated stalls during loops. As you can see, I can change the aircraft's attitude almost instantly while the airplane con…

I don't know how Emilios Gemenetzidis and Ioannis Dermitzakis managed to make this Aerosoft product OOM free and still incredibly good of frame rates (even while recording at 2560 x 1600 I was solid at my locked 22 fps). I was really impressed by this airport and surrounding scenery ... think I'm gonna go spend a few more hours flying around Greece. Here's the short version of my video: Rob

I like the fog ... looks a little strange against the Sim720 Oban surrounding scenery (hill side) at take-off. Would be better if it weren't so flat and had a little variation to it -- still pretty good though and a big improvement, enjoyed flying in and around it. Had a little turbulence on final. But I really enjoy the overall global lighting in P3DV2. Rob P.S. skip forward to 6 min or so mark ... really think the fog/weather works well there. Video is available in 1440p.

From start to finish, the highlights ... post landing toe brake oscillation - I think I can adjust sensitivity in the QW RJ100? Anyway, had to turn down details for the 2.3 hrs of flight (AutoGen - Building = dense, Veg = normal). The usual suspects, FB KPHX, FSDT GSX and KDFW, QW RJ100, Orbx FTX Global (vector disabled), REX 4 with REX 3 weather engine. Video is available in 1440p Rob
