So, I'm beginning to get to grips with XP-11 at last. Hadn't been terribly impressed at first but Orbx releasing Meigs got me playing with it a bit more seriously and I'm finding things that I rather like. Still a lot I don't much care for, but I am really enjoying the roads in California. I've always felt the roads in FSX/P3D are one of its biggest letdowns, and as I like to go very low and slow the discovery of some of the roads in XP is a revelation. The freeway system seems to work really well, but haven't had the same joy in the UK scenery I've tried. Flight from Kingston, Jamaica, to Port Au Prince, Haiti. February 13th. Fat Tuesday. Yes. I have been consumed with other matters the past three weeks and falling behind on posting about this trek. So just now catching up! Taking an extra minute to understand the clearance. It was mostly overcast and our departure off Rwy 26 has us climbing quickly then turning 180° to the right to climb over rising terrain. Our final destination today, Ponce, Puerto Rico, is some 600 nm and with a headwind our total flight time is approximately five and a half hours. Hey guys, just a progress report on my AA paint. Actually, its a group of talented testers beta testing the paint (I know crazy right? But I want this one to be verified to be accurate by folks who really know this plane)....and I also added a painter to the project. You guys may have seen some of his work that I've showcased in the past ...here for example: @thibodba57 (Brian) is handling some of the dirt and detail layers on this paint, and I've very glad (and relieved) to have him on board! Spent the entire night working on corrections to the paintkit, just on the wings (Don't really like to call out other painter's work, but you will not find a painter who's painting this plane that doesn't agree the paintkit is terrible, full of mistakes, and just about all details were removed from it before it was released it to the freeware painters...makes me ill when I see how much time I've been spending fixing issues that I shouldn't have to, especially on an $80 payware product..ok..rant off...done). This plane was released nearly five years ago for FSX, and now is available for FSX boxed, FSX:SE, P3D v3 and v4. F1 addressed some minor bugs and added a few nice features like ability to load airways into the flight plan and P3D v4 native items like dynamic lighting and dimmable interior lighting. If you're new to the king air there are some sublime features such as icing modelling, the "banana" on the MFD (vertical planning tool), WAAS support for RNAV (GPS) approaches with LPV minimums, and a few more. I'd call it a medium-deep systems depth addon. It's a 20 dollar upgrade if you had the original for FSX or P3D v2. Otherwise it runs you about 55 bucks (USD). It …

Continuing work on the wing...AA (at least on the specific airframe I'm painting) does not have the red "No Step Beyond the Line" paint on her wings...so, I should just use the eraser to take it off right? Oh....let me show you what you have to do.... First, understanding how your paint tools work is crucial to make it look right and not go insane trying to get it right because you don't know what kind of tools your paint program offers you, hehe. Some recents after a couple of weeks off sim...

One could tweak the alpha layer to infinity, but this might be as good as it gets as far as I'm concerned: The arrow shows the 2 texture maps...with my old alpha on the Mid texture map, and the new on the Nose map. You can also see I switched the rivets from black to off-white...looks MUCH better and a ton more realistic. Here are the window frames...my 1st pass at them (metallic) are all the windows except the one under the arrow...that will be tweaked and become the final for this AA paint (after getting really good photos of them from a fellow simmer).
