I've started using ModelConverterX and ADE with P3D just to have something new to do. I used them years ago and just decided to pick them up again. Back then, I don't remember having any real problems, but now, there's just one big one. Perhaps someone can give me a hint as to what I'm doing wrong (of course, Ill figure it out 20 seconds after I press the "Submit topic" button, but bear with me). Here's the procedure I use: 1. Build model in Sketchup. 2. Export as .dae file. 3. Open .dae in ModelConverterX. 4. Convert texture to .dds. 5 Export as .mdl file. 6. Load ADE, add model to list. 7 Place model in airport. I have FlyTampa VHHX v2 for p3dv4. I have 747's not clearing the mountains heading north from Runway 31. Does anyone know which afcad to edit to close Runway31. Just curious. Unless you know a FDE for the 747's that will enable them to clear the mountains. I know that I can set the weather in p3dv4..the winds from say 320 at 16 kts trying o get them up and over. Hello, I am starting to try and make some scenery for my self to try first. Most tutorials required SBuilderX to get the mesh of the airports and their coordinates. I've installed SBuilderX313 and 315 but both are missing: Shp2Vec.exe BglComp.exe BglComp.xsd XToMdl.exe Managed_Crashed_Tree.dll Managed_Lookup_Keyword.dll I've downloaded SDK even the newer versions from Lockheed Martin. No matter what I do I cannot get it to see those files. I even pointed it toward it but it still doesn't work.Its been like a week and if this forum doesn't help I've basically given up. Hello all, I previously had a scenery by a Patrick Finch for KCLL. Great scenery, but an update by someone else was made that updated the runways and taxiways and stuff. There's a custom terminal that he created and put into his scenery. I want to import that terminal into the updated scenery. Every time I import it, it either doesn't show up or shows up as a shadow when I use the "top-down" view in FSX. Is there a way to get this dang terminal to show up?

I am trying to remove default stream texture. I was informed by Luis that placing // in front of the RiverSU.bmp in the terrain.cfg would remove the stream texture. But the streams are still there. Anyone have any ideas?

When I make changes to a custom airport I use for tests i see a version of the airport that was created some time ago ... about 10 months ago ... but without the new objects I created! This is AFTER having un-installed and re-installed FS-9 and re-configuring the add-on files using the Scenery Library function of FS-9. I have no idea where FS-9 is getting the older scenery! The objects/changes show up fine in FS 2k2 but not in FS-9 or for that matter FSX I am compiling the scenery with SCASM v2.96 on my E: drive where I do all the design work. Hello everyone The title says it all. I'd like to export a list of all the MDL objects contained in a BGL file, with the object name and the GUID. I know I can view that with ModelConverterX Scenery Object Editor but there is no way to export a list .... Thanks

i used to use orbx ESSA in FSX but with new GSX V2, I get CTD even before boarding is complete. I use FSX and i know it is not an ideal platform. I also have aerosoft ESSA so uninstalled orbx and installed aerosoft ESSA. I see that my ai aircrafts run in to ground and sink in. I just see their tails. This happens with random ai and not all ai sink in. I had read on aerosoft forum that new AFCAD solves that problem but it is not available to download anymore. Does anyone have solution to this problem? I use orbx global as background. Best wishes Ash

I'm trying to install Pete & Sid's Viva Airports Scenery for Canada BC and Alaska into FSX and have all the required object bgl's except 3 of them. Does anybody know what zip file these bgl's are part of (ez-ga hangers ss.bgl, generic hangers.bgl and tree objects.bgl). I've looked everywhere but can't locate them. By the way this scenery is for FS9 but should install I hope if I leave out the traffic bgl's. Hope somebody can help. Thanks,

Since the original developer has stopped any further work on this program I thought I might add one new feature which was sorely missed, caching of tiles previously downloaded. I also added one or two other items.I have added one new config item under the services section of fsearthfiles.ini, ServiceName = xxxxxxx.This name will be used in the drop down box to select the relevant tile provider service, it's easier than remembering which service was which in the old implementation.The StartWithService = xxxxxx must match one of the Service Names entered under the services section.I have fixed the error with Google maps requiring the blue 'WWW' button needing to be pressed.…

ILS approaches it tracks rather well. But manual approaches forget it! When you start getting close to the runway (or the ground...haven't figured out which triggers it) it just does not want to fly straight. Even once it touches down it rolls down the runway sideways! You have to sit there and really mess with the rudder just to make it stay on the runway. Has anyone else had this issue?

Hey guys, i tried to work on some scenery files @ ETSI. I use ADE170. If i placed some bush set, it will not show up in FSX. But f i try the same addon scenery folder with P3D the bushes show up correctly. Whats wrong, what can i do, to see the bushes also in FSX?? Many thanks for your help. Highly appreciated. Hello guys, I am working on a scenery (DNYO) I made ground poly for the runway and taxiway with Sketchup3D and converted them with MCX ( layered the textures properly ) but in FSX some areas of the poly weird, the texture kinda got torn which makes it to look so bad. I guess the problem should be coming from MCX.

One of the things that has irked me in FSX and now P3D4 is placement of trees and buildings on the mud-flats that IRL are only visible at low tide in Westernport Bay near French Island, Victoria, Australia. It's time for me to try my hand at scenery modification. Would appreciate some step-by-step guidance (so my 73 year-old brain can cope) on how I can get rid of the mud-flat "islands" or exclude the placement of trees and buildings on them. Bob

I forked ortho4xp on github to try to modify it to support fsx/p3d. It is working, but I am stuck in trying to utilize the masks generated by ortho4xp for creating blend masks with resample.exe Long story short, ortho4xp generates a mask bmp at zoom level 14 which comprises the area in question. No matter what I do, the produced bgl isn't masked properly. Areas that should be masked aren't, and areas that shouldn't are. I know the lat and longs and cellxdimension, cellydimension values in the inf files are correct, because I have generated bgl's utilizing only the satellite photo as the source and a bgl utilizing only the mask photo as the source (as layer typ…

This may be a hopeless question, buy here goes: I have been using AI Traffic to place aircraft at airports to use as static aircraft...I just create as flight plan that will fly them in the middle of the night and bring them back to the airport so they sit there all day...This is time consuming and can be tricky...Is there any way of placing aircraft at an airport that is easier? I don't care if they ever move, taxi, fly or whatever...I just want them to be visible at the airport...I would want to be able to place both flyable airplanes as well as AI models...Thanks for any advice!

I spend most of my time in FSX:SE bush piloting around the Pacific North West and unfortunately very few of the smaller, rural airports feature buildings. Meanwhile, I have a nice addon from Zinertek called HD Airport Graphics, that enhances the building and objects at default / plain vanilla airports. Of course those airports must at least have some buildings that can be enhanced. So...I've wondered if it's possible to add just a few plain vanilla buildings to these small airports, so that HD Airport Graphics could take care of the rest by enhancing them with better looking / textured buildings? Hello, I am trying to improve my skills in scenery building, I am good with the AFCAD and I can make photoreal scenery. I want to make realistic ground texture ( taxiway lines, Tyre marks, dirts ) like payware sceneries, I found out many people use GMAX to do the job. I don't know how to use GMAX, It is kinda complicated 😞 Is there any other 3D software I can use to do the job in a easier way or can I use Sketchup3D. Any help pls 🙂
