I would be cautious making generalizations like this. To me it seems less a lack of skill and more a lack of "need" to hit this target or scope. Their addons are enjoyable and sell well despite not having every cannon plug modeled.

I am. I have uninstalled and reinstalled and even run it in a clean comm folder with no other addons enabled. Baffled as to what could cause it since it shows in all screenshots.

This is not true. There is an executable in the root folder of all Modern Cities packages that allows you to disable certain cities and POIs as required so they don't conflict. (for LA you can disable SoFi stadium) Make sure you've updated to the latest version of MC.

Who do you expect to make these addons? The major legacy devs have fully redone their workflow and are unlikely to come back unless the userbase is there.

You must not own any other payware aircraft then... All the majors (Fenix, PMDG, AS...) receive constant updates throughout their product lifecycle, but none are as publicized to this level. There was a time in the P3D era where you couldn't launch Ops Center without getting an update notification. Despite that, I will hand it to them. They are taking feedback and making changes. Only good can come from that.
