  1. I think lighting "bigness" is entirely subjective and depends on individual eyesight and camera lens trickery, external environment, time of day, weather conditions etc. I haven't seen any reason to use further addons to mess with it. The less things I mess with the better, is my motto
  2. I've recent turned HDR back on as I had it turned off in Win11 for a while, can't recall why. Anyway I agree night flying is beautiful now. Continental Europe looks amazing.
  3. Yep the inversion of the release order for 2024 over 2020 looked like trying to minimise use of the existing customer discount.
  4. Yes the old internal vs external modelling discussion. Unfortunately, rock star marketing shots are normalised now so in order to sell copies the developer has to model every chair and coffee cup in the food court and every landside Hyundai. Now there was a time where every polygon mattered and why waste them on things never seen. In this age now with 24+GB VGA cards, headroom is abundant. I'm happy to only see what I see from the flight deck as convincing as possible. So some internal modelling trickery from that POV has merit for me. I like the packages that let you switch it all off, if you prefer, eg IniBuilds. To me that is the right way to do it. Won't change the giant file size though.
  5. I have had same thoughts recently as you. I came to the following conclusion. You are right in that you're talking now to an AI bot so you may as well talk to a real person. 1. If used to the auto-tune feature for the radio then manual radio discipline in vatsim may take some getting used to 2. Vatsim is best when all the ATC centres are filled. When this happens the airspace will be busy. So being on your toes is necessary. The centres near me especially in organised events require strict adhesion to set procedures. Again, getting used to that. Would be fun though. If I had less disruptions from family and kids I'd take the plunge more but happy with BATC as I can just not announce on hand off if I have to and I'll be fine until I re engage.
  6. I use SHIFT + W/A/S/D and Q/Z (or is it E) to adjust eye position and height until I'm comfortable before each flight. Then unfreeze TIR, Centre it, and off you go I run the Samsung G9 49" with TrackIR. It's incredible. Over 20 years old now.
  7. This calls for a self test. So no FPS difference and I'm on unlimited data internet so no concern with data. PG ON obviously looks better so that's what I've been generally using. The underlying ground Sat image is different too between off and on. But yeah when I'm coming in or out of a major airport at 150kts I generally don't look around enough to care in that short time I can see the ground.
  8. Been using FS2Crew for years. For airlines which, funnily enough, rely on structured set checklists every flight, I think it's unbeatable.
  9. I have to revisit KSFO. I'm finding since SU3 and SU4 my FPS is so good now and all these major airports are suddenly back in play.
  10. I'm sure they took a look at their sales data and release order from 2020 and did it in reverse for 2024 to minimize the discount use.
  11. Horray for #1 the silent immersion killer but now I realise it's not me ! How to fix? In settings or control sensitivity ?
  12. I've found that since SU3 and most notably SU4 my FPS are through the roof and always stable and smooth. I am over trying to chase something I now think I don't even need. If it's working great why wreck it? I'm still on 591.44 and 310.4.0.0
  13. I loved the PMDG MD11. Those callouts were great especially APPROACHING MINIMUM and then a really quick Minimum! The whole soundset was top notch.
  14. I think the stock sounds are fine.
  15. A famous location right back to FSX or even FS9. Definitely a GA/bush classic.
  16. Drives me nuts too. They certainly took something in 2020 that didn't need changing and very much broke it. For no apparent reason.
  17. I often just acknowledge the switch but don;t announce yourself on the new freq, if you're on a long cruise just announce yourself later and the app almost always works it out (BATC here)
  18. Long haul in 2024 is fine, no need to worry. Slight side-quest.. What's really bugging me is in 4 x SU's there is still no real, actual, true PAUSE. You can Pause time in the Dev Mode menu but even this does not stop AI from moving. It appears the AI injector does not "pause"
  19. My PMDG experience so far has nothing of the OP's listed items. All of it is great. They have been a solid product since FS9 for me. I never communicate with the company. I never need to. Nor do I care about any of the customer bed-wetting leading up to the release of this product in 2024.
  20. SU4 has somehow solved the microstutter thing and even the most dense major airports are now running at 60+fps with TrackIR and full AI. At least for me it is.
  21. I've got about 100 folders in there. Never been one to go totally all-out. If I end up lobbing 100 more in there I don't mind. As someone said, I don't think the size/number matters to performance as much as it used to.
  22. mouse emulation works great in 2024, used it today. Sometimes TIR just won't recover.
  23. Not sure what they did with SU4 but the few flights I have done with Fenix into major payware airports have been smooth, stutter free and very high FPS all the wall down and in to the gate. Really amazing performance now with all the 4096pixel AI traffic running. If you were part of this, well done.
