The 737-800 will take 2 months to be available on MSFS 2024 Market Place.

More like it will be available in two days.

As mentioned in a previous post it has been released for marketplace on PC today - Here is the PMDG announcement on it:

Captains,

We have been working with Microsoft throughout the past few days to ensure those of you on the Marketplace platform can get access to the 737-800 as quickly as possible.

Microsoft informed us a few moments ago that the airplane will arrive in Marketplace for MSFS 2024 for PC users this afternoon during their normal monday push cycle.

This was a big deal, as they are technically on holidays this week but they jump through a few hoops to help get this done for those customers on marketplace.

XBOX NOTE:
The XBox version is working through distribution still, which takes longer as there are more entities that must touch it before it lands on your console. I don't know what that division's work schedule is like during the holidays- but for those on the Xbox platform please know it is working through their system, so it shouldn't be too long. I suspect worst-case will be shortly after the new year.

LIVERIES NOTE:
We were unable to get the 737 liveries through approval side-by-side with the airplane. I expect the liveries will be approved right after the new year, unless the MS team that handles them happens to be working the next few days and next week- which i doubt.

We will publish more information on these topics as we get it.

Ive been a PMDG customer since 2006. Ive purchased every product do date. I must say I am rather dissapointed with the 737-800 in 2024. I am not seeing the value of the $30 fee. They have set a low bar if you compair it to Fenix for example! Im not saying the plane is bad, however Im not seeing the leaps and bounds PMDG have been selling us on the new 2024 verson. Im not here to bash PMDG however, I expected much better.

The least I expected was a completely finished overhaul of the EFB that gives you all the options and failures available that are currently still only choosable via the FMC.

Then the option to switch between Navigraph's Jeppesen charts and MSFS's default LIDO charts.

And so many more quality of live improvements that PMDG still seem to not understand.

Yes, I see the 737 upgrade now available on MP. However no liveries. I know PMDG is working through this. Hopefully early 2026 after the holidays? Good on them for getting it launched so quickly in MP.

I wish I could pay a fee to convert my MP purchase to OC3 managed.

You can already get some PMDG-738 liveries for MSFS 2024 on Flightsim.to. Simply add them to your community folder. I have the PMDG store version and could download many liveries from them. But I also found some new liveries on FS.to which I installed directly into my community folder. I see no reason why this should not work with the MSFS Store version too.

Two addendums to my mini review on the previous page 🙂

POSITIVES

  • The cockpit windows now OPEN, for the first time in PMDG 737 history!
  • There is a headset on the left side, behind the captain... click on that and you get noise cancellation headset sound effect.

If I recall correctly, the NGXu, which was the last P3D version, also had cockpit windows that opened (it might have only been one of the windows).

My bad. not used PMDG since 2020. Forgot to load the EFB first.

Still no seated passengers, but I cant get that to work in any of my planes.

Ron, go into the FSDT Installer, make sure that "2024 MS Store" is selected on the left hand side below the Release Notes button, and then click on the "Config" button on the GSX Pro line at the top. On the next screen, you will see a block on the lower right hand side that says "Seated Passengers in 2024 MS Store". You should see 4 entries for the 737. Uncheck each row, and then re-check them.

From Page 10 of the GSX manual:

"Seated Passengers are an Opt-In feature: by default they are not enabled on any
airplane. To enable supported airplanes, enter the Config page for GSX Pro in the
FSDT Installer, and in the “Seated Passengers”, there will be a list of all supported
airplanes which are found to be installed.
Click the check-mark to Enable Seated Passengers, which will do the required
changes to the airplane model files and folder, which will activate the Seated Pas-
sengers feature.
Removing the check-mark will Disable Seated Passengers for the selected airplane,
and will remove any changes made by the FSDT Installer to the airplane model files.
"

"When you add a new Livery for a supported airplane, you MUST start the FSDT
Installer again and enter the GSX Config page, to let GSX modify the airplane files
for the Livery variation that has been just added. The list will pause for a few sec-
onds, showing “Seated Passengers Loading”, while it’s scanning for your installed
airplanes and newly added liveries. Then, exit the page using the Close button

If you feel this strongly about it, why not just buy it again from PMDG? It's not THAT expensive if you really really hate waiting.

Yes, thinking the same thing!!! I really believe in buying all add-ons direct for future pruchases.

Yeah it makes sense and eliminates this issue for you completely.. of course this advice is not universal, I understand that not everyone wants to or can spend double the money on an addon.. but if you can, why not?

You do not recall correctly.

No, I'm afraid not 👍   I put a lot of hours on that version and definately no opening cockpit windows.  Pretty sure the 2024 version is the first time PMDG have modelled this in the 737.

It's a good immersive new feature.

PS... If like me, anyone is trying for 15 minutes to discover how to close the windows.... there's a small clickspot right in front of the moveable window part.

Is anyone else not hearing a touchdown sound with the new 737-800? I decided to land it hard on my latest flight to test this, but I heard absolutely nothing as the main wheels slammed into the ground.

I noticed the same. Did not hear a single one of touchdowns. And while I'm certainly not bad at landing 737's I doubt I butter them so much everytime that they are inaudible. 😉

I also struggled with hearing the touchdown sounds and saw several streamers who complained of it too. I reverted back to the Boris sounds.

I take it the Boris sounds are working with the 2024 737-800 ?
