I've been using the 'Insert image from URL' box rather than trying a direct post into the thread! Yes - the rendition isn't 'photo-realistic', but it is accurate in terms of the size of the wall, and includes the small forts build every mile of the 73mile stretch, and the numerous larger forts/towns along the way. The wall was started in AD122 by the Romans to 'keep the barbarians out' literally from coast edge to coast edge in the north of England. The Optica is the ideal way to see it, winding its way through the cities of Newcastle to Carlise and then onto the moors and hills, where it follows every rise and fall. One of the wonders of the ancient world. It takes a fair while in the Optica, mind you... January 27Jan 27 Many thanks - the link works 🙂 How do I get it to show the shot rather than just the link? That is, how do I allow it to embed @Reader ? January 27Jan 27 Here it is in real life, nearly 2000 years later: https://photos.google.com/photo/AF1QipPkL9X05z-MpyjqoIO_K3hB9LhIBxV-QrgPoQyg I think that Time Machine Designs 'Hadrian's Wall 180' add on is a triumph and this is a great way of seeing history against a photo-realistic 3D view of the world that is MSFS2024 Ryzen 7 9800x3D @5.2GHz; ASUS X670-P Motherboard; nVidia 4080 (factory o/c); 32G 5600MHz DDR5 SDRAM; Pimax Crystal Light VR Headset; Quest 3 VR Headset

Certainly the link does work on mine, but then again the host url will be linked to this computer. I'll try accessing from another computer. Thanks again for the response - I'll have to dig a little deeper. 👍 Ryzen 7 9800x3D @5.2GHz; ASUS X670-P Motherboard; nVidia 4080 (factory o/c); 32G 5600MHz DDR5 SDRAM; Pimax Crystal Light VR Headset; Quest 3 VR Headset
January 27Jan 27 Hmm - yes. I tried on another computer where I wasn't logged in as me and the link sent me to a Google Sign-in site. I'll see if I can find another host. I used to use Imgur but they weren't happy putting in Age Verification procedures (recently introduced here) and basically pulled out of UK. Anyway, thanks for your input @Reader - take my word for it that Hadrian's Wall is a fascinating edifice... 😀 Ryzen 7 9800x3D @5.2GHz; ASUS X670-P Motherboard; nVidia 4080 (factory o/c); 32G 5600MHz DDR5 SDRAM; Pimax Crystal Light VR Headset; Quest 3 VR Headset
January 27Jan 27 OK - sorted it. This is the Optica approaching the Roman fort at Housteads in MSFS2024 with the Time Machine Designs 'Hadrian's Wall 180' add on. It's not intended to be photo-realistic but it is, I understand, pretty accurate in terms of height, style, building types, positioning, etc. The wall, by the way, doesn't go off to the left - it goes right along the cliff edge of the hills straight ahead! January 27Jan 27 And if that worked, this is how it is in real life 2000 years later. This is looking the other way and 1/2 a mile further along. The square ruin is a mile castle (one every mile!), with controlled access north or south. You can see a similar mile castle in the sim shot above, just behind the Optica. In this photo, the main fort of Housteads is just over the brow of the hill in the distance : Edited January 27Jan 27 by AJZip2 Ryzen 7 9800x3D @5.2GHz; ASUS X670-P Motherboard; nVidia 4080 (factory o/c); 32G 5600MHz DDR5 SDRAM; Pimax Crystal Light VR Headset; Quest 3 VR Headset

How well does this work in 2024? I bought it shortly before I moved from 2020 and afaik it hasn't been updated for 2024. I agree it is and interesting way of using the sim. I think the team behind it were involved in the 'Arrows across America' project which was also a fascinating historical project and directly provided flying opportunities to follow the routes. However, it also hasn't been updated for 2024 and there were some issues with the beacon lights not working very well.
