Revolutionary ;-): why flying yourself, if you can LET fly?

Featured Replies

Revolutionary in flightsimming - X-Plane 12 & Livetraffic: planespotting 'air-to-air'. The fantastic plugin 'Livetraffic' doesn't 'only' show ... you know ... livetraffic 😉 around YOUR own plane, you can also travel around with the planes around your own plane and you don't even have to fly yourself. If you are familiar with Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, you will feel like 'at home'.

As YT doesn't allow me to post longer videos than 15 mins I have uploaded it to my webspace. Click on the below picture or here for watching it.

LiveTraffic is an essential plugin, although it can get pretty annoying when you try to takeoff or land during rush hour. While XP12 can see LiveTraffic, it can't do anything about it and will have you hold short or go around until the traffic lets up or the TCAS override is disabled.

Is this better that global traffic using the regency traffic pack?

What's the "regency traffic pack" ???

I have JF's Traffic Global, actually made my Xp12 look even more enjoyable than before, but never heard about "regency traffic packs" ?

And... when these traffic injectors inject their "stuff", do you mean the core ATC is also aware of them? I thought core ATC in XP12 would only be aware of it's own core injected traffic?

https://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/forums/topic/303632-regent-traffic-pack/ < takes Traffic Global right up to date with latest flight plans and liveries etc... REALLY good!

Yeah I am sure XP ATC see's the aircraft if TCAS mode is turned on at least it does for me

It depends on what you understand as ‘better’. It's just traffic as it happens out there in real life (from freely available sources like e.g. adsb.fi), while Traffic Global AI displays generated traffic (AFAIK).
As Björn wrote, you may have to wait until you can take off or land in between. And you have to be careful not to get caught in the wake turbulence of other aircraft (see below, double speed), but I think that's also the case with Traffic Global.

Hi,

Does the traffic taxi to the gate or do they just disappear on the runway?

Up to you to decide. Real world traffic vs fixed flight plans.

That's up to the real crew and their handling of the transponder.

I knew of "hide aircraft ahead", but not of "hide aircraft in radius". Useful, danke!

Livetraffic is indeed so powerful - I even didn't know (before) about the "hide aircraft ahead". Only after getting deeper into the manual. Very useful 😉.

Hi,

Does this work with PMDG 737-800 TCAS?

I remember it working with any aircraft that uses the "sim/cockpit2/tcas/indicators/..." datarefs in its cockpit displays, including Zibo/LevelUP's 737 and ToLiss' Airbuses.
