June 14, 20241 yr Does anyone know if they are still planning to make their Boeings compatible with XP12? I know they were saying there will be a fee, but for now I don't see anything at all. It kind of makes me want to hold off on getting the Q400 if they will be as slow as they have been updating their stuff.
June 14, 20241 yr If you check their Discord there is quite some topics around the Boeings. The 732 is soon to be released and the other v4 versions are planned also. The Q400 is one of the best planes you can get so I would not create a dependency to the Boeings 😉 Cheers T.

June 14, 20241 yr Fee or no fee I have told FJs I would be happy to stump up full price for the 727. In my early days of ignorance of the differences between XP11 and 12 I purchased the 727 - complete bust in XP12 (no electrics or hydraulics etc). I hung on to it in the vain hope that it would be updated - well a year later I am still waiting. So I binned it end of story. I have the IXEG 737-300 (analogue) that does for a 737 and the Shensee 707 more than compensates for the 727. Maybe the Q400 is good but simply I do not trust them to do what they say so why would I continue with their products. Each to their own - if that level of customer care appeals to you - go for it!

Q4Xp is pretty much there flag ship. Performance has improved in XP12, which was its biggest issue, and one X pilot does reviews of it on youtube. In fact its regularly updated. I expect this beta run to possibly break some things. But so far so good. Edited June 14, 20241 yr by mjrhealth

That's kinda how I feel about it. I WANT to get the Q400, but I hope they bring their Boeings up to speed. Also... what's this Shensee 707???? I haven't heard of it. Where can I buy it? I want a 707 pretty bad, but the only one I know of is the upcoming 707 on MSFS and that one is gonna be $10 by Aeroplane Heaven. Based on their previous MSFS products, I have ZERO hopes for that one being any good.

June 14, 20241 yr Yep the Shensee 720 720B is good, visually textures systems performance - on the mark all the way, Maybe a 720 but it is still a 707 with all its characteristics! Shows you what someone with skill and passion can achieve in the world of flight simulation.
June 15, 20241 yr Author The sad thing is that this freeware (which I downloaded but haven't flown yet) will probably be better than Aeroplane Hell's effort subsidized by Microsoft on MSFS. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate MSFS, there are some stellar aircraft and the sim is making amazing progress but there are those inadequate companies which still get to be MS partners who put out absolute rubbish. I think I have already decided that Boeing is gonna be ALL XP 12 for me with the new FF 777. I would rather that than even PMDG (they put out great work but still no weather radar etc.. they are old-school and it shows)... A320 though is firmly in MSFS. Fenix and iniBuilds. I don't need any more of that type though Toliss looks amazing and I REALLY love the 340. And I heard that the 320 series by them are better than the 340. 350 is gonna be a toss between iniBuilds in MSFS later this year or FF/Toliss collaboration, but I am happy enough with current FF.

The next version will not be an update/upgrade, but rather a full rebuild of each addon. We may not like the wait, but so far it's been worth it with the others. They don't talk much in public, they focus on the work. And the work releases when it's ready. And the work has been simply excellent ever since I've been paying attention to them. If the Q400 appeals to you, get it with full confidence. It is arguably one of the best turboprops of any kind available in any sim, and is as good as the Majestic version in P3D. And the Majestic version is an IRL flight instruction addon.

I really don't understand this...? YOU bought an addon that isn't compatible with the sim you're running and you're mad at THEM...? And IIRC, current owners or new purchasers will get some kind of discount. So what's the problem? When have they not done what they've said they would do? The Q400 isn't "good", it's freakin' EXCELLENT. as are their 727 and 737. They'll be worth the wait and worth the cost.

I would never tie my addon(s) purchase to a particular sim. Whatever Addon is "The Best" in its class is what I want to fly. Regardless of the sim or developer. I still fly in Prepar3D for certain add-ons. Not because of sunk costs, but because they're still the best available.

And IIRC, current owners or new purchasers will get some kind of discount. So what's the problem? When have they not done what they've said they would do? Well lets say combination of my ignorance of the way XP is built and has developed. Having come from a long background of MS based flight sims - FSX to P3D particularly backward compatability was overall good. I worked with developing and upgrading a lot of older stuff to P3DV5 that went as far back as MS2004. As for XPlane, while the overall model; size dimensions, textures etc and underlying coding worked XP12 was basically a new sim by comparison so critical stuff like manipulators, datarefs etc etc were no longer functional in XP12. There was no product disclaimer at the point of purchase - that is this is an XP11 model and will not work in XP12. This ignorance was also compounded by the state of play for the sim - namely there was a lot of opportunism from the Covid era where a variety of enterprises put out sim stuff (at the time XP11) but stopped upgrading or developing those models for XP12. I assumed incorrectly that those enterprises would in due course upgrade and get their stuff into XP12 -Wrong! There are a whole bunch of great models (XP11) that were not abandoned but which the enterprises for their own reasons I guess decided, by default or design to move to another platform (MSFS). That I understand. as it was a constant problem in the way developers abandoned P3D as well for MSFS. No I am not mad at them that is not the point - the point is an upgrade was suggested, hinted at or said it was being done and a year plus later - nothing. Then again will they? after all how much real demand or interest is there for a steam guage era early Jet Transport in 2024 when the real aeroplanes are long gone and in museums or scrapped! Real world manufacturers do not upgrade legacy stuff either - that task passes to the enthusiasts and restorers. In the world of software intellectual property rights so jealously guarded and fostered by those who want to own the rights to every bit of code just makes the work of enthusiasts and restorers an under the counter process! The model only cost fifty bucks so no great loss in the scheme of things - as for customer service well half the developers about have absolutely no idea of what that means or how to go about it! So if a customer tells you they made a mistake but ok I can wait if there is something to be done or come - just do it! IF they are not then thats fine I can live with that too! Customers are your lifeblood lose that trust you lose your business! The Q400 may be the best thing since sliced bread - but it does not float my boat! Besides to emphasise my point there are enthusiasts rebuilding a lot of legacy stuff and if I wanted a Dash 8 then the Manky1 Dash is my go to - gets better and better as time goes on. June 17, 20241 yr Not be mean to them, but the fact is they are the slowest among all add-ons I have bought. The only aircraft I still keep on XP11 is FJS 732/727, along with Felis154 which is now for free and no longer under development, and iniSim A310 which they said won't be upgraded to XP12.
June 17, 20241 yr Author I don't see a reason to still keep XP11 on my system. The only things I miss are FJS Boeings and a lovely Felis 154. But that sim looks horrible and XP12 is such a pleasure to fly in...
