Am I right in thinking that the autogen houses look better in XPlane when compared to P3D?

I’m not to sure off the top df my head without looking and I’m away at the moment but if I had to hazard a guess I’d say yes.
I had orbx HD buildings installed on my previous set up but I can’t remember if they replace the TE autogen or not, likewise terraflora.

If you try to do a Dambusters run down the Derwent valley in MSFS you’ll find flat 2D dam walls , luckily orbx have released their central England pack which puts 3D dams in place, just like the TE products do.

Someone on the UK2000 forum mentioned that the Porthkerry rail viaduct (a prominent landmark on final approach to runway 30 at EGFF Cardiff) is missing, and it made me wonder just how many other major buildings and landmarks are missing. The fact that certain objects are misidentified, and there are forests instead of moorland in the Peak District just reinforces my decision to stick with P3D for now.

Those who actually have a copy of MSFS can visit Flightsim.to and download not only a model of the viaduct, made especially for those UK 2000 users and beta testers who do have MSFS, but also a very nice model of Cardiff airport as well. Entirely free of charge.

Dear Orbx:  Please release TE USA, and or TE UK for P3D.   I’ll respond in kind with an instant purchase, regardless of price.

Just flying along the coast over Miami, in Orbx TE Florida...and thought to just show you what you can see in TE Florida with all graphics sliders at full, and humid haze via E.A. on (HDR off).

I have all the TE's installed, even though they don't support PBR, they look pretty good

I presume you mean on the terrain, as most of the POIs are PBR (in the US regions at least)? In X-Plane, the autogen houses are also PBR

Tony , I usually only fly in TE regions , N & S California, Florida and  the UK., P3D and XP.

I own terraflora 2 , trees HD and buildings HD but haven’t installed them yet on my new rig, do they work in TE regions? I can’t remember !

cheers

Wow those are some amazing visuals

I do think that Orbx did a great job with TE Florida, and doesn't suffer from the red tinge terrain that some have spoken about. Not at all.  I enjoy using it.  This if of course, what you see here at full sliders for terrain and A.I. complexity.

I think TE Florida is a pretty good outcome, it covers a quite large area and is well detailed, although there were some people complaining about rough landing strips and needing to change the surface to asphalt in ADE (or along those lines).

I personnally bought it because is was such a bounded and complete area by nature of its geography, plus had the space shuttle launch and landing sites well detailed.

I'm runing it in P3D v4.5 where is does put a heavy load on both CPU and GPU, that said if I wind back the building shadows (because there are thousands of buildings) and draw distance I can manage a smooth 30 Hz vsync for the majority.

Some comparison pics from P3D v4.5

Here showing the sort of CPU/GPU use while flying... I really need a new GPU - donations to the 3080Ti benevolence fund accepted 😉

?imw=5000&imh=5000&ima=fit&impolicy=Lett

If I tune a profile that has medium/high draw distance and isn't trying to shadow every tree and building (because there are thousands), I can typically manage a 30 Hz vsync for the majority of flying.

I bought only the NorCal region (where I live)

I don't know if they fixed this as I don't own the region and they haven't updated their screenshots, but if I remember correctly TE NorCal when it first released had a really ugly Bay Bridge (it didn't even look like the real one at all) and they said they will fix it, but I'm not sure if they have, since the screenshots of the product is still the old one.

And I can agree with the color part, Mount Diablo is way too orange-reddish compared to the real thing.

I meant both, when did PBR get applied to POIs (for P3D)?  I'm reading TE Washington and TE Oregon ... can't find a mention of PBR on any TE?

Cheers, Rob.

I assume he meant X-Plane, as the X-Plane version uses PBR materials for TE NorCal (and I assume the other TE products as well).

Disclaimer: I am a beta tester for Orbx.

But I also have all of the major sims and DO like the Orbx P3D TE sceneries a lot...mainly because under 5.3 (and with them installed on SSD) they are the smoothest performing sim I have...FPS is similar on all sims in the 40-50 FPS range but P3D is the most FLUID at least for the moment...even without stutters per se I can’t get my other sims to achieve that perfectly fluid motion despite messing with locking frames, not locking frames, etc.

I also like the consistency of the coloring and all of the Orbx custom POIs (vs photogrammetry) and airports.

My New Year’s resolution is to do whatever it takes to achieve smoothness in my sims, even if that means keeping them as simple as possible (but once addicted to photoscenery and POIs one cant go back, and that’s where TE regions excel.

Theyre great in XP11 too, but I can’t make my XP11 run fluidly even under Vulcan and with purely default scenery and low settings.

Depends on if you're using improved default AG buildings and if scenery is defined to use them.

How do these compare ?
