Given the low hardware requirements of MSFS 2020, buying a 3060 TI seems like overkill and a waste of money.

I think I'll hang on to my aging Radeon with 4 Gigs of vram a while longer....

If the only graphics intensive software you use is MSFS then yes, wise choice.

I went from a 1070 to a 3080 (with a complete pc upgrade) and performance is just a non factor. 100% ai traffic, JFK or Heathrow, weather or not, smooth as butter. The biggest benefit was being able to get past performance issues and just focus on flying.

Nice, I've been trying to score the same video card myself with no luck!, I'll even take the GTX 3090FE if that's my only choice.  If you don't mind, where did you find/purchased your card?

eBAY w/ a receipt.   I entered the Newegg Shuffle daily w/ no luck but they do exist there if you're lucky to get one and they range there from $1300 on up to $1800 for a single card no bundle.  I justify it only because I buy and hold.  In fact my 7 y/o GTX Titan is still operating daily in a light-duty application.  I will try to sell RTX 2070 Super FE after the new card survives the first few months of operation so recoup a little of that back.

Well we were tied up for a few weeks out of town at our daughter's wedding else it would have gone in a little earlier.

That's it here as well.  Not only can I run everything maxed and then some, it's so nice not to have to stop and adjust sliders ever, which was a regular occurance particularly in heavy weather.  My maiden flight was flying thru the worst hurricane Ida had to offer our of KMSY and the GPU never went over about 80% but mostly well under that.

What is the combined VRAM/RAM ?

The sum total of VRAM and RAM in use peaked at 19Gb.  ~8Gb of VRAM and ~11Gb of RAM at one point.

If you limit the framerate to 30 fps as he did, you can have that quality with your 1080Ti too...

Not true Fuzzy.   Even w/ LOD at 200, RS 100, the rule was to have to stop and change sliders, in particular volumetric cloud density to high from ultra, and in very complex terminals like Roman Design's CYOW had to set some sliders back to high and even medium in spots.   But vsync to 30 is always a very good thing especially when you set Low Latency to Ultra in NCP.

If you're in the US and have a local Microcenter it's a good bet they have some stock every week. I walked up a month or so ago and got the 3090FTW. 3080TI is showing in stock at my local store. Of course in store purchase only.

What's also unexpected was the tangential views are clearer now as well, whereas previously there was a certain blurriness to them. That may be from the LOD/RS changes not sure.

I have a 2080 (8gig) and have been happy with it for the last 2.5 years however have been giving thought to  a 3090. Thanks for the performance report.

You need to cease and desist from posting these types of threads.  You tempt me into upgrading my card, and that's not a prudent course of action for me, not at this juncture.

I'm wishing that big weather upgrade wasn't a year away.  That's a long time!  Hopefully in the interim they can add in a proper visibility slider.

I just over the weekend installed an RTX 370 TI Gaming OC and despite the specs difference to the 3080 TI am having much the same great experience.

Daily, based on real world conditions and what I am presented with in simulators, I choose weather I fly this sim or weather I fly a previous one....

I'm on a 1080 Ti but my system is very dated....it's a Frankenstein build from 2011 actually.  The 1080ti is a great card in itself but for me to upgrade to a 3080 ti (which I'd love to do) I'd want to first upgrade the CPU and mobo.
