Has anyone noticed this or am I doing something wrong? Any time I start a flight with the TBM at a parking area. Taxi to runway. After takeoff I can't get the autopilot to engage. If I start at the end of the runway. After takeoff I have no problem engaging the autopilot.

There's a switch at the right hand side of the overhead that needs to be set if you are starting cold.  If at the runway, it's already set.

I had the same issue with the AP.  I was doing a checkride in OnAir and couldn't get the AP to work.  Flew the whole checkride by hand which was quite interesting.  After landing, I looked around and found the switch on the overhead panel.  All good now and AP doing what it's supposed to.  Guess I should have RTFM!  Hehehe...

Setting the switch at the right hand side of the overhead that needs to be set if you are starting cold did not do the trick for cold & dark start

Click the checklist icon and follow the checklists. If it doesn't work, you messed up somewhere along the way. I've done dozens of flights with the TBM and the autopilot has never failed to engage. Again, the checklist needs to be followed to the letter.

I tested again today and it worked OK. I must have not checked well before. Thanks !
