October 20, 20205 yr The 1080 Ti absolutely smashes MSFS 2020. My EVGA Gaming O/C is, well, O/C in factory - 1080 Ti is behaving like an absolute Champ. It gnaws away at MSFS 2020 at 100% whipping up the old Donkey of a 4790K - gently O/Cd to 4.6. Most settings on HIGH, Clouds on ULTRA. I'm having the time of my life. Fly every aircraft like you stole it; The 4790K is a beast, even today. I saw a video where they tested every gen going back maybe 6 or 7 gens of cpus. The difference between the 4790K and the 10700K was really pretty minimal. Intel has been coasting for way too long. I limit fps to 30, using RTSS and scanline sync x/2.. my GTX 1070 runs at about 60% load. Just a different approach 🙂 Bert

My GPU runs cool and I get better performance with a mild OC. I paid for it, so might as well get it. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 96GB DDR5 | 4K G-Sync | Win11 Pro

Yeah, I've got a big Tower PC with controllable fans, etc. it's like having a dog in the yard that you let off the leash now and again. I have a setting that let's it know I'm booting MSFS and then it spins up all the cooling fans, it's loud and dangerous knowing the Devil's Canyon 4790K is on the loose and OverClocked. No plans to replace it yet. I guess I struck it lucky with the 1080Ti and the 4790K. They're a good combination for MSFS 2020. Ray - it's Quad - 2560 x1440. October 20, 20205 yr I OC'd my 1080ti but only got an extra few FPS for the added instability after hours playing with settings. Not worth it IMO

October 20, 20205 yr I got CTD's when overclocking my 1080Ti - it was getting really hot. I limit it to 30 fps through Riva tuner now, as it can hold 30 easily enough at 1440 and 120-130% scaling. It runs cool (ish 75C) and quiet now and no more CTD. Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind). I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio. Take a look physically - in your PC - What's your GPU cooling doing Bob. In the box? Don't let it go over approx 72° C. Look at your box - are your fans doing the business? My EVGA 1080 Ti (when under load) runs at about 70° when at 100% in MSFS2020. The fans are going ape. You know, full tilt. It sounds to me it could be a cooling problem.
