October 10, 20205 yr I noticed we can pick two types of Live weather What is the difference between Live weather (the left most option) and the second option next to it called "Preset" and then pick Live weather within it. Which live weather is better if there is any difference at all Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
October 10, 20205 yr I think you can set the time of the day freely at preset. System: I ASRock X670E | AMD 7800X3D | 64Gb DDR5 6000 | RTX 4090 | 2TB NVMe | Seasonic Vertex 1000W I LG Ultra Gear 34 UW I
October 10, 20205 yr Yes, I thought one selects live weather, date-time and traffic; the other lets you just set live weather but change the time. MSFS 2024; Fenix A320, 319, 321; PMDG 772, 773; A2A Comanche; Blacksquare Piston Duke, FSLTL, BATC

Thx, Al No my understanding is you get live weather to match METAR (should!) but the time of day in the sim will be different. Thomas Derbyshire

OK, so you get the current real weather for that location according to the METAR but you can apply that weather to whatever time of day you want. So this might be useful, for example, if it is dark out but you want to fly during daylight time. Thx, Al Edited October 10, 20205 yr by ark

October 10, 20205 yr Except that the weather generation is still not correct to the hourly METAR. It's close sometimes but OVC019, for example, is 2 puffy clouds near the departure airport. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
October 10, 20205 yr How are you guys figuring out what the actual weather is at any given time?? I use Live WX but the ATIS never seems remotely close to the conditions in the sim. I usually check real metars but I know that is hit or miss...usually a miss. Mostly interested in the winds of course... October 10, 20205 yr ATIS in the sim is just broken imo - never corresponds to anything and its always 3 miles visibility. Funnily enough guys I've given this a go tonight..... https://unrealweather.blogspot.com/ My early thoughts are its pretty good, I think its trying to achieve what REX Weatherforce is doing......but free. I've flown a few flights tonight and the METAR using this Mod was very close to real world metar at corresponding airport. The only thing I have noticed is if the airport doesn't have local metar, the mod picks up the closest metar but the day is wrong, so today the metar would say 102010Z meaning 10th @ 20:10 UTC, in situations where there is no local metar it was showing something like 072010Z meaning its from 3 days ago. That aside I'm sure it will be updated and its worth a go. Thomas Derbyshire
