MFS review by FSElite

Featured Replies

For those that didn't notice yet, the guys at FE Elite had published an excellent review of the upcoming MFS that I think covers every aspect people would like to know - and wouldn't like to know too- about the new sim:

Enjoy.

That was an interesting read. I did not know rain drips from the plane as well. I like that you can see friends on the world map and join them straight away. Now I need to make some friends!

The small ones such as Lukla, Courchevel and Saba are brimming with intricate details and well-executed design, whilst the bigger ones such as Paris CDG, Los Angeles LAX and New York JFK all feel quite generic. They certainly are far more functional and detailed than those not hand-crafted, but there’s still room for improvement that only a third-party developer who’s specifically making an airport could actually give to it. Paying extra for the Premium or the Premium Deluxe Editions of the airport (the latter is priced at $120 compared to the standard $60 edition) feels a little underwhelming when you look at the final quality of those airports and yet you will still likely want to buy third-party additions.

Quite pleased at that, vindicates my decision not to get the Deluxe!

Thanks for the hint Ed. An excellent review highlighting the highlights but not sparing the points where there's room for improvement, fully in accord to my alpha/beta experience. (Still waiting for the final download tonight.)

Kind regards, Michael

Everyones’ mileage will vary. I find the deluxe airports to still be about 80% their. It’s enough for me to go ahead and get 10 of them for what amounts to $3 a piece and have them as places to fly. Then populate other airports that are totally default with 3rd parties.

Well I plan to spend the money saved on DLC that I will actually use. As much as you get 10 airports, I'd probably only use about 3 on them with any regularity. I was more bothered about foregoing the SR22 and Pipistrel Virus, although the Bonanza and CTLS do cover those specs.

I mainly paid the premium price for the SR22 and the Virus 121.

They could do worse than hire a proof reader I think (not just that review, though it is way longer than it needs to be, almost all of their news articles have basic spelling mistakes in them).

For people who are looking keenly at the value per dollar spent on the various versions, some might find it of interest that the upgrade from the free version from the Xbox game pass, to the ultimate version is apparently only $89 in the marketplace right now.

I got the Premium Deluxe mostly to fund 10 years of development of my hobby. If that helps, I don't know.

I went all in as well.  It won't force me to mac n cheese (for now).  sure this sim will have kinks in the beginning, but it'll get better.

I did it for that and also because there will be more Premium Deluxe content that will be made available as the platform evolves. Asobo have said that they will release Regional Updates that will include among other things, some hand crafted airports. Some of those airports will go to all versions and I am guessing some will go to the Premium Deluxe version.
