I'm all in, and went with the "Corinthian leather" version of FS2020.  This weekend, Wifey and I are taking the Jeep up North to get out of heat wave here in the Valley.  When I come back, I'm downloading FS2020 and will enjoy it.

I'll post my review after for those interested..... 😁

I'd have liked to see them take another few months for polish in light of how "hot" it seems like some of the bigger aircraft especially are coming in for launch, but at the same time, I don't know why bugs with the autopilot or whatever would be some "I wish I hadn't seen this!" moment.

It's a huge, extremely complex piece of software. Simulating an airliner is complex.  They will no doubt be working on issues and ironing out bugs for years, and have basically said as much.

August 18th isn't the end of the road for MSFS development - it's the beginning of the new, public-facing phase of the road.  Even some of the bigger Youtubers and whatnot I'm seeing run into these issues are acknowledging the obvious - that it's a preview release, and no doubt a lot of these issues will get mopped up in the days and weeks ahead.

It's the launch of a next-generation foundation for the next 10 years of flight simming, that is going to see endless refinement and stuff built on top of it from inside and outside Asobo.

If I only bought things that were perfect I wouldnt own x-plane or fsx

Im sorry.. but me buying MFS even when if it wont be perfect on release, when even in its imperfection its  better than what I have currently, doesn't require brainwashing.   I think its a sound decision.. even if i didnt have faith they will keep improving it.. I bought x-plane with that faith.

If someone says im brainwashed then, we can agree to disagree. I dont think Asobo expected everyone to buy the sim day 1 (and i dont just mean because they read avsim ) or even at all.  What they hope is enough people have faith in the sim and want what it is offering to buy it on the 18th that they can improve things enough that some of the hold outs can be swayed... And they can only spend your $59 once whether you buy it on the 18th or january or .....

That video didnt bother me at all.. (well except that i new this thread was coming) but it dissuade me from getting the sim. Chewwy flew the dang plane and he just did his chewwy chuckle  and has faith these things will get fixed.

but yeah.. if its not for you.. its cool.

I bet they're kicking themselves over creating a unique AP for each aircraft.

Depends on what they meant by that. Could simply mean they've made be a big list of control parameters they can cherry pick from to create a specific set of functions, or they might have gone to the trouble of knocking up Bendix King 150, Sperry 230 and so on, in which case you've got to admire the ambition, but... word not allowed. Yeah you've gotta make a 3D model for the GUI, but that in itself is not a massive task when put in context.

I took it as meaning that each autopilot has unique capabilities, limits and functionality tied to each aircraft.

Yeah, me too. But that's got pluses and minuses as a method down the road. The old FSX system was just a bunch of tick boxes off a list of parameters in the air file, which meant it was easy for hardware autopilot add-ons, and stuff like MCE and FS2Crew, to access the functions of add-on aeroplanes which stuck to that, whereas when some developers of aeroplanes made custom autopilots for their add-ons which ran outside of FSX, it made that kind of interfacing more difficult to achieve. Guess we'll see.

I don't see how a negative critique is "complaining".  Pointing out the obvious shortfalls demonstrated in the video is no less valid a commentary than pointing out the strengths.  There is a line between valid criticism and incessant slagging, but that's not what I see here.  It's fair play to point those things out, and nobody but the developer has any responsibility to offer solutions to the problems that are highlighted.

If you want to exonerate any and everyone that has a negative opinion relatively speaking, then the inevitable of incessant complaining will take place. There's literally no accountability to have an opinion and then offer something of substance to start a debate as to how these terrible terrible things could be changed. Instead it ends at, "this is my opinion....tough!" That's not how discussion turns productive.

To all of you complaining non stop about the sim.....you do realize that you aren't required to buy it on the 18th right?

You can easily sit back and make your own release date. At the end of the year? The end of next year?

That's why the complaining is so darn annoying. It's as if the complainers are forced to endure the agony of buying the sim on the 18th.

Get a life, go outside and come back to msfs in a year or 6 months or whenever you want to.

It's not freaking rocket science.

I don't mind people pointing out defects and shortcomings.  In fact, I find it very helpful and would encourage it.

But I'm getting tired of the complaints. Yes, there's a difference.

Clearly not everyone shares your world view, but you know, both they and you all get to have a say, within reason.  I'm not "exonerating" them, as they have committed no wrong, except maybe in your eyes.  I'm defending their right to have and express an opinion different from yours.

Discussion of the state of affairs in its own right is certainly legit...we are powerless to change much of the world around us, but talking about our little piece of it--relishing and lamenting what we see as good and bad--is all acceptable here.  There's no requirement to be "productive".

Frankly, your incessant complaining about the expressions of opinions by others is growing quite tiresome.  If you don't like what they have to say, ignore it or post a different view, but quit with the forum cop routine already.  Nobody is accountable to you for their opinion.

I am stocking up on popcorn.  My day will consist of flying the 787 on autopilot In MSFS while I chomp down on some popcorn and watch the fireworks on these websites. I find it all funny.  Wait I need butter. Bbl.  Off to the store to get butter.  Proceed with the flogging

If You trust the Autopilot, then Good Plan! If not, then You'll better eat that popcorn fast! as in FAST.
