Yes, but they have apparently not done any work on this issue, we see no evidence of it anywhere in the video ("undulation" not slope). So do you really think they're going to suddenly implement such a major change this late in the alpha? I very much doubt it, but I'd be very happy if Asobo prove me wrong. Matthew S

But I would not mind if it was provided by an addon dev later on. I am more interested in a proper flight model, nice scenery, adequate weather simulation and ATC. You have no idea how happy I was to see that MFS was basically "integrating" the same functionality as Ortho4XP into the sim. I'll be very happy to delete my Ortho folder. Half a terabyte is not really "for free". I just mentioned Ortho4XP because of its functionality of "smoothing" the mesh in airports, to prevent unnatural "bumps" on runways which are in places with row resolution or low quality terrain mesh, which Asobo could/should use. I'm talking about the other 36000+ "generic" airports which will be perfectly flat because Asobo seem to just flatten the entire airport surface (same as P3D/FSX). Matthew S
February 21, 20206 yr I imagine military bases will be the ones they don't manually edit. Which is fine, as long as they include ones that do have a civilian terminal or parking. Edited February 21, 20206 yr by Tuskin38

I know it's a difficult concept, but there is no evidence of undulating runways/taxiways/aprons for the 36000+ generic airports. Such a failure on Asobo's part. A real shame. You speak as though you have "inside knowledge". I do have an inside view and I can state unequivocally that you are wrong. 53 minutes ago, MatthewS said: Of course they won't, because they can't, they have not implemented undulation of airport surface based on the underlying mesh. While you are absolutely free to swallow both of your feet by stating your "opinion" please keep in mind that there are others who actually know better. The characteristics of any given runway were generated from published data automatically, not based on underlying mesh, as was stated clearly (albeit with a very heavy French accent) in the latest Discovery video's narration. Rather it is valuable feedback by someone not in the Alpha with the hope that this feedback is hopefully received by the MS/Assobo product/development team. To add, the feedback is not just about blades of grass. It is about visual scale. Scale is important to any visual depiction and in the case of the picture in question, the large scale of the grass makes the plane and buildings look miniature. Hopefully this would be something that can be and will be refined by the team. The product so far looks great and almost everyone is really looking forward to it, but it is important to be able to raise issues or concerns. Especially at this point where things are less expensive to fix or refine. You said it yourself. Flight sims like Xplane have been out for years, yet they are still fixing major flaws that let the simulator down, but a product that is still in Alpha..... it's too late to do anything about it's flaws. To me it looks like your argument is inherently flawed. February 21, 20206 yr Author It is evident from the Feedback Snapshot that they are still considering creating major features for the game, that may or may not be ready at launch. It has been confirmed that they will be working on the game for years after launch, which means that the beta will not be a hard lock on the feature set. Their goal is to create a long-lasting platform that continuously evolves, and we'll probably not see Microsoft Flight Simulator II for a while. By all means you should be posting any criticism or feature requests, as those help the team and they are monitoring these forums very closely. But you have to do so in a respectful way, and understand that they are prioritising their huge amount of tasks and that the simulator will never be perfect for everyone.
