July 14, 201510 yr .....when it's not, it's better than nothing. This is the problem of which I spoke earlier in the thread. When Carenado produces a good looking but flawed simulation of an airplane in high demand (the Pilatus PC-12 for me), purchasers with this attitude rush to buy, thus cooling the market for a developer who might take longer and need more investment to produce an accurate simulation. This might be called "Abacus syndrome". I will never buy another Carenado product for this reason. My MSFS 2020 repaints: Flightsim.to - Profile of HStreet Working on MSFS 2024 versions.
July 30, 201510 yr I should probably have let this thread die but, I started thinking yesterday as I was flying around in a new install of P3D (yeah, trying that again). I was asking myself "What airplanes do I want to bring over here". P3D doesn't like tons of addons...best to keep it cleaner. So, which ones...hmmm. The answer that came back was not very many and I can't say any of the Carenado made the list. My mind says that a lot of them are the same. They all fly well, pretty much, they all look good. But they all have outstanding bugs, no fixes coming and virtually no penalties if you fly them badly...run CHT too high, etc. Oh, they're making another twin? I already *have* a buggy twin...I don't need another. I'll probably stick with A2A and RealAir. Gregg Seipp "A good landing is when you can walk away from the airplane. July 30, 201510 yr I tend to agree Carenado is light on systems and can be buggy, but I can't say they are any more or less guilty of this than any other aircraft from PMDG ($120) to A2A ($80) to RealAir ($40) to Majestic ($60) ... what I find interesting is that XPlane buyers welcome Carenado with open arms, yet the FSX/P3D users tend to go out of there way to post their displeasure with Carenado (again and again and again, this certainly isn't the first thread and will not be the last). I'm not trying to deter any opinions either, this is a civil thread with people repeating their opinions of Carenado, all fair/good. What I do appreciate from Carenado/Alabeo is that they don't distinguish price based on platform used FSX or P3D or XP10. As a primary P3D user with some occasional XP10 use, it's refreshing to see a company not penalize me because I choose P3D as my platform. Cheers, Rob. Just to quickly clarify. X-Plane Carrenado models are nowhere near the sloppiness or buggyness of FSX/P3D Models. The reason "we" are happy is because the developer Dan is active in the forums, reacts to bugs, puts out hotfixes in forums if a patch takes to long, and is generally available. Also the first release of a new model on X-Planeis usually less buggy than any sp2 on a FSX/P3D plane. My guess is that if carrenado behaved like they do for x-plane, there would be no complaining. Noone gives them a hard time on the x-plane forums because people know what to expect, lite but still functioning aircrafts and a feeling that you are getting taken serious. Mind you Dan is currently developing the G1000 for x-plane, so there is still potential for everything to go down the gutter

As with the previous post, I've stuck to RealAir & A2A for my new computer & FSX installation. I do purchase Carenados for X-Plane, because I get the nice looking graphics, while Dan works the rest out for X-plane.

I haven't noticed Carenado products being any better in XP10? But regardless, I would NOT understand the devs (Dan) motivation to make an inferior FSX/P3D product than the XP10 product ... from a business perspective that wouldn't be conducive to increasing one's revenue. Typically devs have a BIAS towards the platform that is: 1. Has the largest user market ($$) 2. That changes less 3. Ease of SDK Cheers, Rob.
July 30, 201510 yr This is just a guess... but the XP versions are derivative products, and maybe the developer cleans up some bugs along the way as part of the adaptation.. B) For all I know, Dan is just as frustrated with the quality control of the original product as many of us are.. Bert
July 30, 201510 yr Doesn't matter to me. There's not such thing as half good when you charge people money. careNOTado. Pawel Grochowski
July 30, 201510 yr Late to the party - - however in my opinion Carenado has become the Captain Sim of GA.

Oh of course, i agree he would definately not have any motivation. However you have to realize that Dan IS Carrenado X-Plane. He is, to my knowledge, a one man show that does the port. Well saying it is a port doesnt really do him justice. He only gets the 3-D Modell and the rest he does himself. He only works in X-Plane and was doing planes before getting hired by carrenado. I think the Embraeder ERJ 140 is from him. So I guess you can say its down to his work ethics that he refuses to release stuff in a fashion that would resemble carrenados style. Which ironically makes it even more frustating to know they even can do differently if they choose so
July 30, 201510 yr Commercial Member Looking at hawker textures they are not capable of doing quality work. It's unheard for UV map in a commercial product to have different sized sides in a symmetrical object to the point of not aligning. It proves they use very cheap UV making solutions together with seriously under qualified staff. I am talking basics of 3D here not something advanced in any way. All you have to do is look closer and you will see that the plane is not aligning in many places. Plain UGLY. I am thinking of getting the Hawker and would like to know if you are talking textures or model being unsymmetrical? I have looked at most of the screen shots and videos and can see no problem with textures or model but maybe when actually on my pc I would notice them. July 30, 201510 yr My gripe is that Carenado seem to have a production line of different types of aircraft. They just get them out without concentrating on fixing/improving each model. On the plus side they cater for aircraft that no one has ever done before, currently they are working on the Aero Commander, a fine aircraft, rarely modeled in FSX/P3D. I agree they are charging top end prices and the model systems could be improved but, at the end of the day, you make the choice to buy.
July 30, 201510 yr Maybe better not to try to find every "flaw" and enjoy flying the airplane instead.. B) If I look at my own car long enough, I can also find imperfections.. the world is not a perfect place. Compared to other airplanes in my hangar, the Hawker is a gorgeous looking plane, especially with my favorite Rich Sennett's repaint... http://www.simforums.com/forums/topic53130_post332638.html#332638 Bert
July 30, 201510 yr he Hawker is a gorgeous looking plane Yes, that's the hard part. A Gorgeous plane on the outside. My OCD though won't let me fly cuz of what's on the inside. Such a shame. But, hey, we all know what they are and can either accept what they have to offer or not. Me = not. Regards, Kevin LaMal "Facts Don't Care About Your Feelings" - Shapiro2024

X-Plane is a very good platform that needs developer support to realize its potential. My MSFS 2020 repaints: Flightsim.to - Profile of HStreet Working on MSFS 2024 versions.
