HiI am enjoying the C185 Bush but have some issues, one of them major. I flew C185's on floats and wheels for nine years in the SouthWest Fiordland area of New Zealand so have some real-world experience...1. The floatplane model is outstanding. Within the limits of FS it is just about as real as it gets. Well done! But a minor quibble with both the ski and tundra tire versions - the amount of torque when going to full power and also when raising the tail to the take-off position is fairly considerable in the real thing but barely perceptible in your FS version. In the real world you really need to work the rudders when going to full power with the tail down and when you p…

I have just started to work on a new Norwegian livery. This one is a float model. The textures were initially done on the FS9 float model, and all seems to work perfect. Then I transferred the textures over to FSX (amphib and float). The amphibian version is also perfect, but the float version has a rudder texture issue. I have patched my FSX bush Skywagon with the recommended patch, but it seems like the patch did not solve the rudder texture problem on the float model. Was the patch (C185F SKYWAGON BUSH FSX PATCH 1 ) only intended for the amphibian model, or has something gone wrong while patching?....

Does any one know how enable the carb heat in the acft cfg file. I know the acft does not have carb heat but I do have carb icing issues at altitude. I just would like to hit the fsx default carb heat button when needed to restore power which I believe Carenado disabled with a patch ( I do have the fuel mixture properly leaned). Also is there a way to get the avionics master switch to actually work. I have no control over the avionics power the radios are always on you cannot turn them off with the on/off button or avionics master power switch.

Hi there. I've just been fling the 185 on tundra tyres and the ski version and I've noticed that the ground handling of both aircraft are appalling. I can't execute any tight turn of any sort even using differential braking unlike with the standard wheels version. Is there a way to "copy" the ground handling characteristics of the default wheel model in to the skis and tundra tyre models?Cheers,Ross

Hello,I was wondering if the "Service Pack 1" and the "optional patch" could be applied to the C185 Bush version ? And not only to the C185 Skywagon. It is not mentioned on your website.Thank you.Remi.

When painting the amazing Carenado 185F on floats, i often encounters a problem. There are lots of float variations on these birds. The LN-DBG (a familiar sight at my home airport) is a mix between the Carenado amphib and the float model. So far, a lot of my liveries are mixes. In that case I will have to decide wether to use the float or the amphib model. For the LN-DBG, I will use both. The LN-DBG is recently sold to France, and she is now named

  18. :( Anyone know how to find the location in the VC of the blank instrument spot and if it can be used for an active gauge? It sure makes sense to me to have it with the other engine instruments and in plan view rather than partially hidden by the yoke. RayM

  19. Started by skyhawk,

I am currently working on a North-Wright paint for the Carenado Cessna 185F amphib. As usual, I have limited photos the paint object. And I suspect that there are some more paintwork to do on top of the wings (the only photo that I have, may indicate this). I am also in doubt on which color to put on the spinner (chrome or blue...).Does anyone know this aircraft (and where to get addition photos)?... :(

  20. After some flipping, turning, twisting and mirroring I finally got the rudder textures to work for the Bush version. I also played around with the wingtips on the Tundra to see what matching colors would look like. The original real deal has an off color purplish color for the wingtips - like on the amplibian below.

As I haven't seen much Tundra 185's come outta the paint shop lately,I decided to get her a rightful backcountry feel and color...Body and window colors modified, its now time to add some dirt, wear and a little more age to her, more shots coming later.Maybe we will be able to get the paint guru Gunrar to do some cutting edge scheme's.... :(

This was something I was working on until I ran into the text issue on the rudder. Since that has been corrected I thought I would move forward. This a definite WIP. I can find only 4 images of this aircraft on the internet. There seems to be a lot going on the wings but I can't find any top images. The N font is not correct and I don't think the aft top fuselage is all yellow either.Any suggestions?Russ

I finally got around to completing my first 185 repaint. This is one I've been planning since before they even released the amphibian version -- it's based on a real plane that's based at Plum Island, Massachusetts. Carenado had to remap the rudder on the model, and I'm not sure when they plan on releasing the revised version. Once it's out there, I'll make this paint available. A pic of the real thing is here: http://www.abpic.co.uk/photo/1042391/

  24. The C-185 Story - taken from "Cessna Wings for the World" by William D. ThompsonAs the C-170 evolved into the tricycle gear C-172 and the C-180 evolved into the tricycle gear C-182, it became apparent that these airplanes were becoming the favorite "easy-to-land" personal airplanes of the late 1950's. Thus the C-180 was moved almost exclusively into a utility airplane role. This was illustrated by a precipitous decline in annual C-180 unit sales from a high of 891 planes in 1956 to only 250 planes in 1958 when the C-182 hit its stride in the marketplace. Although the C-180 represented a better match between engine and airframe, in the author's opinion, it was obvious that…
