In WW1, the top fighter pilot Ace, with 80 kills/victories, was Germany’s Manfred von Richthofen, The Red Baron. He was finally shot down & killed, in his bright red Fokker Triplane, but who did it was debated until 1969. Even now, there may well be ongoing differences of opinion!. Hope you enjoy. Cheers.

So this week, what with the Tour de France now in full swing, I thought why not combine flight-simming and cycling in a weird sort of way. As a result I'm gonna do a small number of fly through vids in the sim following stages in various points of the 3 week event in different parts of the country. It's a gorgeous country to view from the air, and the TV coverage is often taken zoomed in from choppers not far above the race below. Le Tour started on 5th July this year in the Hauts-de-France region in the North East tip of France. The first 4 stages were all in this region with the opening stage a loop around Lille itself. This video covers sections of the Stage 2 rou…

Australian Sir Sidney Cotton (1894-1969) in WW1 pioneered the famous SidCot flying jacket, rear-facing machine guns, & upward firing guns to take out Zeppelins, & in WW2, aerial spy reconnaissance photography, & special camouflage & speed enhancements for Spitfires. He was a colleague of Ian Fleming & part-inspiration for Fleming’s James Bond character. Not bad for a boy from outback Queensland, Australia. Hope you enjoy. Cheers.

Hi Fly in supporting the Mirpuri Foundation campaign “Save the Coral Reefs” painted its A380 aircraft with a special-themed livery, aiming to reinforce worldwide the message of sustainability and protection of the seas. The airline joined the project in cooperation with Mirpuri Foundation, Hi Fly’s principal sustainability partner. AkzoNobel provided the design livery to personalize the project. The chosen aircraft was an Airbus A380-800, the biggest commercial aircraft in the world, which is now painted on both sides, one side in dark blue displaying destroyed corals contrasting with a light blue side representing a pristine ocean with colourful and healthy marine life. …
