FSX/FSX-SE Aircraft and Panel Design Forum - How To

Hi all!Have any of you guys experienced the problem I'm experiencing while doing certain types of texturing in GMax? I have a part. I select the faces that I want textured. Then I apply the material and add a UVW Mapping modifier. Most of the time I can do this perfectly with no problems. However, sometimes I get this very annoying problem. I key in the same value (say 50) for both the length and the width. However, the UVW Mapping gizmo shows a rectangle. Sometimes, it shows an oblong shape and the texture is distorted. Changing the values in the fields provided doesn't correct it back to a sqaure.Does anyone know how to correct this problem? I don't have to redesign the…

I recently downloaded a panel for an ATR 42/72 by Marcello Lugari named atrpnl.zip. In the installation instructions he says the panel needs the atr.gauges in the file atr2k2v61.zip. I have done a search both here on avsim and on flightsim.com and cannot find atr2k2v61.zip. Anyone know where I can get these gauges? Thanks,Ray

While making a panel, I added deice & primer switches which do not do anything within fs2k2. In fact FS won't even let them toggle. I've searched the cfg & looked through the air file for a way to enable them... what/where have I missed them!?

I downloaded a B-36 panel at Flightsim for the B-36 and there are three missing gauges (apu.gau, B-58 Start 1.gau and B-58 Start 4.gau). I can't locate these gauges anywhere and the authors address ([email protected]) comes back as incorrect. Does anyone have these gauges or know how I can contact John? Do you know how to make a transparent gauge using vector drawing?I tried the following flags:IMAGE_USE_BRIGHT | IMAGE_CREATE_DIBSECTION and it works, but no transparency,IMAGE_USE_BRIGHT | IMAGE_USE_TRANSPARENCY | IMAGE_CREATE_DIBSECTION and it doesn't work. Greetings, I'm moving on from the simple toggling xml stuff that got my feet wet, and I'm trying to modify the Baron Left Fuel Quantity Gauge. Since it is a percentage gauge, I thought it would be nice to turn this into a gauge which gives you the percentage of fuel left for all of your tanks, not just the left one.I thought there might be an A: option which was similar to the "Fuel tank left main level" which would read "Fuel tank all level", but there is not.So, I am assuming that the way to do this is to add up all the fuel tanks instead?If I understand Arne's document correctly, the operators go at the end of the stack. I am stuck building XML versions of VOR1 & VOR2 gauges.I have everything working *except* the two things that actually are the most important: the VOR 'needle" and the GS 'needle.'I've got both anchored properly with the Axis, pointed the right direction... but cannot for the life of me get them to (a) respond properly and (:( limit their travel to a narrow arc.The OBS knob spins nicely, the backplate spins (in the right direction even!)... :)Can anyone help? These are the last two gauges I need to 'scratch build' to complete the Socata TB20GT panel.TIA

I am trying to associate a sound with an XML gauge using Bill Morad's XML Sound Gauge on a simple 2-position switch (ND switch in the 747 Cab file). Have added the line as fillows:(L:Nav Display Switch, bool)(L:Nav Display Switch, bool) ! (>L:Nav Display Switch, bool)The click sound is there but the switch gauge has become inoperative. What have I done wrong, or where can I go to get more detail tutorials on this?

Is there any program that lets me integrate aircraft downloaded from avsim.com as foreign aircraft? For example, if I land at JFK and look at the moving air traffic, there are always only those "no-name"-jets moving around, rather than customized airplanes that I have in the "Aircraft"-Folder.Is there a program that lets me organize air traffic (e.g. certain planes at certain airports) and also increase the general traffic in FS 98?Thanks for your reply,shoheisel

Greetings,I'm working on a comprehensive set of FS2002 toggles in XML format. I've encountered a problem trying to figure out how to do a certain kind of toggle.I wish to be able to toggle a certain window number, not based on it's ident. Just like the old DFD toggle buttons do. For example, if I have three windows in a panel (including the main window), I want to be able to toggle window three with a switch, regardless of what it's IDENT is.I've looked and looked in the SDK for any reference to being able to do this, but I just can't figure it out. Any help in pointing me in the right path would be most appreciated!
