I have a particular model which I have the gmax source files for and want to tweak or remove the specular shine. I would appreciate someone with knowledge of gmax to do it for me. I understand its a retty easy process for folks with gmax and a little experience. Right now I do not have the time to install and learn it so any help would be [email protected]

Hi all, I'm trying to modify the aircraft.cfg for the wonderful Aero Commander series aircraft created by Milton Shupe and the flightsimonline design team. I just want to have the aircraft respond properly to the default FS9 ATC with the correct manufactuer and type names. If anyone has successfully done this, please tell me the correct atc_type= and atc_model= codes to get this to work. Thanks, Jeff

Is there a way to dynamically change the C od G for float planes to accurately simulate takeoff'sA float acts like a boat's hull where the center of lift changes - which explains why float planes get very nose high at low speeds in the water - then get "on step" where the wing angle is kept until flying speed obtained. The float equipped aircraft like the C208 in FS9 always get to flying speed and "pop" into the air drastically. Thanks Comancheguru:-walksmile

I have noted a number of otherwise very good a/c whose VCs are very difficult to use during daylight flight because the VC panel is too dark to see when flying at certain angles to the sun depending on time and direction. Others are nice and bright and flying in the VC is a pleasure. I believe this has something to do with the model.tectures and is not a panel lighting issue. Is there any way to lighten these A/c VC panels.?Thanks Barry

Is there any way to increase the battery life of the default aircraft without using the registered version of FSUIPC? I read about the possible fix involving changing a config entry, but I'm wondering if there are other ways.Perhaps writing to an offset or something...Thanks, Bryan

Hi,I have installed Jens B. Kristensen's Short Bros. S.23 Empire C-class aircraft and I want to edit the water effects so that it has a trailing type wake as other amphibian aircraft do but I am unsure how to or what to edit. I changed the aircraft cfg. file to use the water effects from Mikko Maliniemi's Maule and that has made it a little better but still not quite right. Can someone help or point me in the right direction please?Kind regards,Garry

Hi all,I hacked together a new carb air temp guage for my panel last night, and discovered that it doesn't seem to make sense to me. I used (A:Recip carburetor temperature:1,celsius)The net result is the temp of the carb air seems to go to about 0degC after engine start up and stays there. This occurs regardless of location or altitude, though at 20000 it did drop a degree or two.Figuring I must have done something wrong, I looked at the DC3 and the De Havilland buth of which have carb air guages and noticed they were displaying the same behavior. Now, perhaps I am on crack, but this does not make sense to me. Unless the carb is sitting in an air conditioner, when the outs…

I need some help with using " Case " statements in XML. I can find plenty of code that is used for displaying bitmap images, like Sample 1. I have not been able to use "Case statements" for any other purpose. I would like to know if it can be used to display "TEXT", like Sample 2. and can it also be used to display "Parameters" like Sample 3 ? greenco**************************************************************Sample 1(A:Flaps handle index, number) *****************************************************************Sample 2(A:Flaps handle index, number)Flaps UpFlaps NeutralFlaps Down ***************************************************************** Sample 3(A:Number…

Hey all,I am looking for an XML autopilot code snippit I can use in a panel I am building. All of the various xml autopilots I have found seem to be broken. For reasons unknown none of them seem to work on gps/nav mode, nor on APR or BC. They are broken not just on my panel but on the panels I have seen them incorporated in as well, so I know its not me. Fixing the code is beyond my skill level at this time, so any help would be most welcome. Its driving me crazy because the Kingair autopilot is the only stock part left on a completely custom panel and I really really really hate stock parts. Did I mention I really hate stock parts? ;)TIAShad

Hey all,I just want to post a note of thanks here as I near the completion of my first project. While I have only been posting here a short while, I have been using AVSIM for about a year, and have been following and reading the posts here since I started building my first panel 3 months or so ago. What I have learned reading the posts made it possible to expose parts of the Sim I did not know existed and has made learning XML a heck of a lot of fun. You guys did so well in fact, I was not forced to ask any stupid newbee questions until the end when I was dealing with the last one or two niggly little problems; the kind that drive you nuts.So thank you all, and I look forw…

A single propellor aircraft exibits a left torque on takeoff and climb due to P-factor. I was wondering if in FS9 they use a yaw trim input to simulate P-factor. The model I'm using correctly simulates the p-factor up until aprox. 80 knots. Then when above 80 knots the aircraft actually tries to roll right as if the p-factor was applied to the air file in reverse to the higher speed table used. Which tables are responsible for this? Also in aircraft like the Yak 52 with "backwards" turning engines, we would have to simulate right torque p-factor on takeoff and climb.Thank you for any assistance

Hey all,I have a fairly unmodified (only reskinned) version of the standard GPS 500 built into the pilots panel. One of the niggly little things that bugged me about it it was how bright it is at night, esp. in map mode. So the quick fix was to change "bright" to "Luminous". No problem, took a microsecond. But this is not very elegant. Idealy, I would like to create a three way switch for its illumination: 1)no light (as if panel lighs were off), 2)luminous, and 3) bright. Is this doable? If so what are the things I will need to look at.TIAShadPS. New Screenshot of latest mockup attached.

I found a parameter named " RECIP MIXTURE RATIO" and I want to use it in a XML gauge. I have not been able to find any further info on it and need some help. The parameter is not listed under the numbered engines (ENG1, ENG2 and etc.) sections, but I assume it applies to either of the recip engines. What is the correct "String" syntax and how would you format the "Output" (!d!, !4.2f! and etc.)?I have attempted several formats to no avail.Thanksgreenco

Hi All,Is there a list of items that the AIR file CAN have? I see some of different length. Also is there a list or document that lists which items in the AIRCRAFT.CFG file override the AIR file entries in FS9? I assume such a list would also contain all possible aircraft.cfg entries.I came upon this project when my addon aircraft wouldn't slow down when the langing gear is extended. I edited the AIR file using AirED, but increasing the landing gear drag # had no effect. Eventually I replaced the faulty aircraft's air file with another aircraft's which cured the gear drag problem. While comparing the two air files with AirED I viewed all the tables and found many large diff…

I'm trying to be able to have a sound loop until certain conditions occur which toggle a var, at which point the sound is stopped. This is what I've tried:case PANEL_SERVICE_PRE_UPDATE: // Load GaugeSound Services DLL MGaugeSound = GetModuleHandle("GaugeSound"); if (MGaugeSound == NULL) {MGaugeSound = LoadLibrary("GaugeSound");} GaugePlaySound = (TGaugePlaySound)GetProcAddress(MGaugeSound,"GaugePlaySound"); GaugeStopSound = (TGaugeStopSound)GetProcAddress(MGaugeSound,"GaugeStopSound"); TerminateSounds = (TTerminateSounds)GetProcAddress(MGaugeSound,"TerminateSounds"); //Show/hide the switch bitmaps by showing and hiding the icons if ( low_rrpm ) { // LOW ROTOR WARNING L…

Hi,while in VC I would like to zoom out say 0,75 for example) only the outside view, while keeping the normal 1:1 ratio on the cockpit view. If I am sitting in the cockpit and zoom out with "-" key, the whole contents of the screen zoom out. I would like to zoom only what is outside of the plane, and keep the cockpit "as is". Is it possible ?Can somebody advise how to do ? Thanks.

Hi all. I am fairly new to this forum. I typically hang out on the simviation forum (easy to use) but that site is up for renewal currently and therefor offline. I am assembling a detailed 727 flight deck from a variety of sources. The basic source is a file named ip727 co,piled by Lonny Payne based on bitmaps by Richard Probst and Chris Arrington. It is intended for FS2002 but works well in FS9 and will work well in anyone's 727 model. What I've done so far is create a near photo realistic center pedistal using the center ped. bitmap included with George Carty's recent 707-420 release. I have that about as system detailed as possible, most of that sort of gauges a…

If I apply a decal part close to and over the fusalage and texture with a squadron badge, for example, in FS the texture tends to twinkle/ shimmer. The same applies for the decal used for the aircraft's licence number. 'Solid' textures direct to the fusalage do not do this (so much).Any cure? Many thanks, nick

HiA FS9 (FS2004) battery power questionIs there unlimited battery power in FS9 now ??No matter what aircraft i try, it stays with full battery all the time.I know about the FSUIPC setting about extra battery life. This is not ON.Also in FS2002 there was a line to put in the aircraft.cfg that give unlimited battery power. I have not this line in any aircraft.cfg file.I have search trough many forum's but not found a clear answer yet.So I hope one here maybee can give a right answer on that problem.ThanksRegardsFranki

Using mouse clickable areas to give me an incremental/decremental (G:Var2), I want to be able to limit the output from the G Variable to a specific amount for later use in the gauge. To see what is going on, I tried to put it in a string variable.%(0 (G:Var2) - s7)%{end}%((l7 -1<=) (l7 -20>=) & &)%{if}%(l7)%!4d!%{end}I want the s7 variable for later use, but only between -1 and - 20.How do I limit s7 to stay between -1 and -20?

Ok... this has officially driven me crazy. The announciator gauge works fine, with the light going off when RRPM falls below 90%, and back on when the RPM comes back up, but the sound no longer starts. Before it was starting, but then I couldn't stop it without stopping all sounds.I've tried everything I can think of. I know the dll is sound (pun intended), and realize I must be doing something wrong. If you can help please do. Here's the code:#include "incsound.h"// Set up gauge headerchar lrrpm_gauge_name[] = GAUGE_NAME;extern PELEMENT_HEADER lrrpm_list;extern MOUSERECT lrrpm_mouse_rect[];GAUGE_CALLBACK lrrpm_gcb;GAUGE_HEADER_FS700(GAUGE_W, lrrpm_gauge_name, &…
