Just to clear up any possible misunderstandings - meaning those who are playing 2020 are having a good time and those playing 2024 are too! 😉

I don't see myself needing the switch for this very reason. I turn on my PC and get consistent performance every time, and have been for over 3 years now. After years of chasing the "the perfect FPS" threads I now have memorable experiences every time I fly. No point risking that. The vast majority are enjoying both sims and long may it continue.

I'm of the opinion that if you don't put the same effort into payware these days that the likes of Flightbeam or Inibuilds do for example then you should make your work freeware, just like hundreds of developers do on Flight.to. That doesn't look any better than a lot of Asobo's default airports so charging for it isn't on in my book. There's even a free enhancement to the default on flight.to that makes it look as good as the above. 25 pounds really is a joke.

Did another flight last night from Muscat to Chennai, about 4 hours. Faultless flight, no noticeable stutters or anomalies. Bless my modest system. Over 2 years now since my last CTD.

This has happened to me a handful of times over the years and it was always because of a 3rd party livery conflict.

The update failed, which automatically deleted it, but the reinstall only took about 5 minutes!

Successfully downloaded the FSLTL update in the end, went ahead with the WU and then did a flight with no issues barring a few stutters out of Dubai (which seems the norm of late out of this airport, maybe scenery related). Granted it was a short flight but it went normally.

I'm starting to become skeptical of this FSLTL update. Normally the update is pain free, usually completes in a couple of minutes but I've been at this for a few hours now. On my first attempt I got an error message saying there wasn't enough space for the update even though its on a big disk and I'm on my second full download again. Once I'm into the sim and do the WU I'll report back, Bob.

Exactly. I object, your honor, to the idea that 2024 has made 2020 look like its 20 years old (someone typed that). Now everyone back to flying.

16X is a cure for this issue as far as I'm aware

If you can point to where I said bush flying doesnt qualify, please? I love bush flying, I just recently completed the TourDeFrance 2023 legs in a Cessna. Fantastic it was. Dont be so quick to judge people or completely make stuff up, it makes you look foolish.

You're not the only poster who has mentioned the clear jump in visual quality between the sims, you wont be the last either. Because 2024 has been such a dumpster fire of a release, people will tell themselves anything to make it sting less. I'm sure both sims look fantastic when you're running it with the best cpu and a 5090 with everything on Ultra, but for those trying to convince everyone that 2024 has broken the mold when it comes to graphics, just stop.

Forgive me, I'm just trying to work out why people are saying 2024 is head and shoulders above 2020 visually and you're telling me that the trees, rocks and dirt make it so. Not a very strong argument is it? I mean, it would need to be a drastic change in visuals to make it seem like 2024 was worth the furore. I think telling someone who flys thousands of feet up in the air that the latest sim is miles better visually because they upgraded dirt, is a little silly. Can we be honest here and just say there isnt much difference between the 2 sims?

We're back to the trees are better in 2024 than 2020? ******* is weeping.

Thanks for all the info, guys. That's a big help. I use the 1 touch load of fuel and payload all the time, I thought maybe adding each class of passenger manually would be fun for some extra cockpit prep but it seems like its a PMDG quirk and a non runner. No big deal.

Ah yes, the trees are better. Just from what you've posted there I'd say most people have convinced themselves that 2024 is basically like looking at a new simulator, when in reality it is absolutely not that different at all. Very small cosmetic differences I can swallow but these superlatives being trotted out to make it sound like 2020 is far inferior are just nonsense really aren't they?

Pardon thats my mistake, clearance for STAR and Clearance to Land, are 2 different things and are normal parlence for ATC, no?

You know, I try to sit on the fence with these things and take onboard all the information that people casually throw out there but I've seen this line a few times and for the life of me can't see where the visuals are "head & shoulders" above 2020. Take the OP in this thread for a good example. I watched intently and at the end just threw my arms up, confused again. No difference whatsover. What am I supposed to be looking for here that is so dramatic its like looking at a different sim? I think people convince themselves too easily if I'm honest.
