  1. Also on sale at Flight Sim Store in Australia. Gary
  2. One of the Orbx people posted on the FTX Forum on Friday: "I'll be reinstating the NA AI pack in a couple of weeks as the regions do make use of the aircraft in their traffic files". On Saturday, he posted an expanded explanation: "The reason it was pulled was that people's "expectations" were not met. Seeing that some of the later NA Regions make use of the aircraft with their own traffic files we will be re-instating the download." Gary
  3. Now also available at the Australian store of PC Aviator. Anthony, can you post here when the retailers have the new installer? Gary
  4. Stew It may be that my recent experience has been assisted by the absence of Global etc and by still being able to run the old version of Libs, a combination which may not be currently available for use by many. Gary
  5. What Stew says has not been my experience. When the problems arose some months back, I turned off my Central updates before I could be affected and I have not migrated. Admittedly, I don't have Global etc, only Regions. Like Bruce, switching Regions is not an issue for me. Since the release of OpenLC NA, I have bought, installed and successfully used the subsequently released Narvik and Melbourne v3. Each time, the version of Libs I have run after installation has been the 160321 version (the last one before the problems arose), not the current one. I accept that the path I have taken means that when Obbx takes over scenery selling from FSS, me being not part of the new system probably means that I won't be able to acquire any new Orbx sceneries but I figure that if I am enjoying what I already have (over the years, I may have bought more scenery than I should have) and have experienced no problems with it, why chance my luck unnecessarily. I realise that I may be in a very small minority with my approach, which may even appear somewhat "heretical" to some. Gary
  6. As a supplement to the posts above discussing the prerequisites for being able to install and use Narvik, I don't have Global etc and although about a year ago I bought FTX Norway, because of the problems of compatibility between Aerosoft airports and FTX Norway, I never got around to installing it. I have FTX Narvik installed over FSX Default scenery. I can't fault the quality of Narvik and how it operates in that context. That is consistent with what I have experienced when previously installing FTX Notodden and FTX Sandane without having the prerequisite FTX Norway installed or installing a number of payware and freeware Global airports without having Global installed - all being installed over FSX Default scenery. Based on that experience, I don't think that the absence of other FTX products ought to necessarily deter anyone from buying and enjoying Narvik. Gary
  7. Following up on post #5, I don't have Global but I have those four Global airports installed over either FSX Default or MSE2 photoscenery. In addition to those, other Global airports I have installed in the same way are Pago Pago, Horovice, Jacksons Airport, Parry Sound and Porta Westfalica. The outcome has been satisfactory to me. However, posts I have seen indicate that the same approach cannot usually be taken satisfactorily with FTX airports designed for a particular FTX Region, something reflected in part of Sott's post #1 and in post #6. I have never tried it. I have all of the FTX Regions installed except Norway and I have not bought any of the FTX Norway airports. Gary
  8. There are posts about this query (post #28) on the Orbx/FTX Forum. There may also be some here on this sub-forum. I have not checked. My understanding is that photoscenery will take precedence over and override landclass-based scenery products (unless the photoscenery is disabled/deactivated) and, therefore, the MSE will appear rather than Orbx scenery where both are installed and active. I don't have any areas where I have both installed. I don't have Orbx Global, merely some Regions. In other areas I have MSE2 or other scenery. As to Orbx airports, I have found that those Orbx Global payware and freeware airports which I have work satisfactorily over where I have MSE2 or FSX Default scenery. Otherwise, I have Orbx airports only on Orbx Regions scenery. Gary
  9. Further to my post #11, I continue to be able to access the FTX Forum and the problems I had about access some days ago have not returned. Gary
  10. I was getting that error here in Melbourne, Australia on multiple occasions on Friday and Saturday but on the one occasion I logged in today (about five hours ago), everything was okay. Gary
  11. Mark In the past hour or so, I have had two advertising/notification emails from PC Aviator (US store) about Night Environment operating with MSE States. Both emails came from the "info" address which Jim mentioned. Try that one. Gary
  12. With my Irish heritage, I could not resist the very generous offer at the US store of PCA on Saint Patrick's Day of a free MSE2 Ireland. It seems that I was not the only one to take up the offer. This morning, I received an email from MSE saying that there was "a totally unexpected response from this giveaway with over 3,000 customers taking advantage of it" which meant that the PCA/MSE server network, which "is capable of serving up around 35 Terabytes per day", was faced with a demand from the offer of "around 60 Terabytes" (3,000 x 20Gb) which "exceeded our capacity" and resulted in lower than usual download speeds. That much would not be unexpected What was unexpected was to receive as part of the usual emailed documents subsequent to and relating to that USD $0 "purchase", a coupon for USD $5 off my next purchase. Who says you don't get anything for nothing nowadays? Here, they effectively paid me (and, presumably, also the other 2,999+ participants) USD $5 to take the product at no cost to the customer. That all amounts to a big "hit" financially but in PR terms imagine its value. Gary

  14. The same Dove price reduction is available at many online retailers. Gary

  16. Bill I can't answer your question because I don't have the Aerosoft version. Three versions of the airport were released within the space of about a year. I have the first released of them, by OFX Simulation, aspects of which I was less than enthused about. The other version is by FSX3D. Simmarket has the three versions. One has a customer review and you can compare the screenshots of the three. You will also find discussion of at least two of the versions by searching "Calvi" on the AirDailyX News site. For other parts of Corsica, there have been some very good airport products produced by developers in the past year or so, including two good airports (which I have) by RFScenerybuilding and an airbase by Skydesigners.. Gary
  17. Frank I reckon Joe is correct about the counter. I viewed your initial post at my usual afternoon time I access the Avsim Forums, which was a little under four hours after you posted it. Gary
  18. As I have commented elsewhere, it is a pity that the quality of the internals of Virtualcol aircraft products don't appear to match that of the externals. Virtualcol products have in the past four weeks or so been selling at significant price reductions at various retails outlets. Have a look at Flight Sim Store in Australia and see if you can work out whether it a "special" there. The banner on the home page says that all Virtualcol products are 45% off but those products are not listed in the Specials list and their price of AUD $28.90 for this Dash seems to me to be the usual price. Gary
  19. Just adding to Christopher Low's posts about Xtreme Airports scheduled for 2016, I recall reading somewhere in the past couple of days (I have been back searching but I can't find the reference) that Humberside will be released on 16 January. There are many screenshots of the forthcoming product on the UK2000 Forum at http://www.uk2000scenery.org/forum/index.php?topic=8413.msg58850#new Gary
  20. Bryan I also "bought this the other day" - but at full price and less than 24 hours before this and other Virtualcol products went on special at 50% off at multiple outlets. I have most of the Virtualcol aircraft products. I believe Virtualcol is deserving of support in this way because that developer is prepared to tackle as payware products a number of aircraft which other developers appear no tot be interested in. The difference between the quality of the exteriors and that of the interiors has been something which has been somewhat of a disappointment for me, an example of one of my posts in that regard being http://pcaviatorforums.com/index.php/topic/1140-best-of-both-worlds/?hl=virtualcol However, I temper that disappointment by acknowledging that the prices of Virtualcol products are towards the low end of the market. The existing exteriors with improved interiors but at a higher price would be a good practical outcome in the future. My recollection is that an email to Virtualcol or the use of the Product Support request form on the Virtualcol website at https://www.virtualcol.com/products.php?kcmdlnk=contacto (there is also a Feedback facility on a different part of the website) has brought a prompt useful response on the couple of occasions when I have had a query. Apart from that, I have used various hints etc I have picked up on various flight sim forums. I am not aware of any dedicated forum. Gary
  21. Nico mentioned two products, the openLC Europe 1061147 mentioned and also Vector. The total for those two products on FSS is the AUD amount Nico indicated and today's conversion rate is within a few cents of the Euro amount he gave. I read Nico's concern as being primarily about the method of payment and the fees for that method. Harry's suggestion is a good practical one but the purchase would still need to be in Nico's name (even though not paid for with his card, like a course adopted by my wife and me in my early days of flight simming). FSS has a good range of payment methods. As to timing of a response, Adrian from FSS has multiple posts on the FTX/Orbx Forum indicating that FSS has been closed for the Christmas holidays but they are back at the Help Desk today working through a back-log of queries. Nico, if you have not already heard back from FSS, have a look at that Forum as some of the posts give details of other ways to contact FSS. Gary
  22. I assume that it is the US store (not the Australian one) of PC Aviator which puglist2 is talking about in terms of lack of response. Although his experience is consistent with what has been reflected in a number of posts on this Forum, my experience with Dean, the manager of the Australian store, has been very satisfactory (including as to promptness and content of responses to communications to the Australian store). Gary
  23. See Christopher Low's post #53 for those details. Beyond that, see the 2016-17 list on the UK2000 website at http://www.uk2000scenery.com/newsite/My_Homepage_Files/Page1.html Gary
  24. I have 18 of the 21 UK2000 Xtreme airports. I have not yet bought Southend and I have versions of the other two by different developers. I reckon the UK2000 Xtreme airports are great products and value for money. I have them installed over the four FTX Regions covering the UK. I don't have FTX Global. I don't recall having any problems with the interaction between my UK2000 airports and my FTX Regions. Some of the airports have an installation option to choose installation with FTX scenery. In the FTX Compatibility sub-forum of the FTX/Orbx Forum and on the UK2000 Forum, there are posts dealing with compatibility between the products of these two developers. Gary
