January 17Jan 17 Nine hours into a EGLL - VRMM flight, I was programming my destination alternate into RTE 2 and I get a WASM crash... https://ibb.co/m5tR8SST Have been running the 777 with SU4 in MSFS2024 since it came out. I had one crash when SU4 first came out (on loading the aircraft), cleared the WASM cache and all was fine. I've never had a WASM crash during a flight before. I've posted this in the PMDG forum, but thought there may be a breadth of knowledge here that could help. Any idea what could have caused this? Thanks AMD Ryzen™ 9 9900X3D, AM5, Zen 5, 12 Core, 24 Threads, 4.4GHz, 5.5GHz Turbo 64GB (2x32GB) DDR5 6000MHz Corsair Vengeance 32GB GeForce® RTX 5090 Graphics Card
January 17Jan 17 I'd just forget about it. I've flown the 777 over and over and over since it was released and only had one single WASM crash in hundreds of hours. This means whatever happened was an extremely rare combination of factors. It's not like with the A350 early days where you'd get a WASM crash every other flight. For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.
January 17Jan 17 I recommend creating a support ticket via the PMDG operations center. They are quite interested in hearing about WASM crashes with their aircraft and what you were doing at the time of the crash. January 17Jan 17 Such WASM crashes are (apparently) so hard to pinpoint a root cause about, because so many contributory factors seem to be involved…not just what FMC re-programming you did…in mid-flight… I’ve been flying the 777 (-F) a lot recently, all post-SU4. In fact, the 777 has been the most reliable long-hauler for me throughout…(being on Xbox myself, I find it nothing short of amazing)… A few weeks ago, I flew a non-stop flight of total 18+ hours to (finally) replicate my own longest RW 777 travel (KORD -> VIDP -> Hold over VIDP airport -> Diversion to VICG). The PMDG 777 stood up to the challenge remarkably well, just as the AA 777 had done years ago…🙂… You may try to repeat that (specific) FMC programming action, to see if you can replicate the failure, on a shorter flight. In my experience, the (mid-flight) route manipulations seem to be robust on this 777 (such as what I mentioned above, after 16 hours flight), and have never caused me any issue. Of course, I certainly see (and believe) the widely reported WASM crashes, more so with iniBuilds than PMDG. I’m curious what PMDG forum response you get… Hope there is not a repetition in your case. Meanwhile enjoy flying this remarkable marathoner in our SIM. Cheers…!
January 17Jan 17 Is this so-called WASM crash cache used for all WASM mediated processes, or just PMDG 777? I ask because the developer of Self Loading Cargo seems to attribute the oft recurring lack of sync between GSX and it is probably related to WASM issues, so wondering if I can clear a WASM cache and make a difference. January 17Jan 17 No developer will look at a “possible” bug that takes 7 hours to replicate. You’ll need to provide a repeatable sequence they can expose any possible issue within a few minutes. What are the details of WASM crash? Is there an option to verbose logging of data in PMDG? What is reported in OS event log? Did the WASM issue actually CTD the sim? I've now been up twice in the 777 and the 2nd time up made it almost to the departure runway threshold when a WASM crash killed it. Good to know it's rare for some at least, ao I'll give another try soon. January 24Jan 24 Author I've never had this in the Fenix or iniBuilds A350. For me, it's totally isolated to PMDG. AMD Ryzen™ 9 9900X3D, AM5, Zen 5, 12 Core, 24 Threads, 4.4GHz, 5.5GHz Turbo 64GB (2x32GB) DDR5 6000MHz Corsair Vengeance 32GB GeForce® RTX 5090 Graphics Card

After picking up Fenix and IFly MAX 8 I find PMDG overrated and I'm glad I didn't wait for PMDG 737 in 2024 as I really like IFly's MAX 8.
