March 22, 20251 yr I followed advice I seen posted on Asobo forums, backing up LocalCache, SystemAppData, LocalState and SimObjects folders prior to running the sim and triggering the 8.7GB update. Also followed another post saying to disconnect internet, restart pc, close XBox App, switch internet back on, run Insider app and leave beta, then start sim. Update was still triggered. Advice was to untick for the game to start. Closed sim after it updated and copied the above folders plus usercfg.opt backups into the appropriate folders as many had vanished. Made no difference, sim settings all reset. Not sure about controllers yet. Frame Gen mod does not show an option (3080ti) also ReShade not starting so will need to look into those. Am I wrong? I don’t think you’re wrong. This was simply a mistake, a «phantom» update that should not have gone live, having detrimental consequences. As I mentioned earlier, I was lucky not to be affected - but this seems to be a huge mistake by Asobo. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5
March 22, 20251 yr MS store version, had this phantom update too. Thanks to past experiences, I saved my install this way: _Backup of "localcache" folder, so I can simply copy back usercfg.opt and settings are safe. _Addonlinker and custom community path. Before launching the sim, i disable every addon trough addonlinker. After first launch, i re enable them. Best way I've found not to loose stuff.

As I mentioned earlier, I was lucky not to be affected - but this seems to be a huge mistake by Asobo. I was in the beta, but checked it again this morning and resulted I'm out, not beta participating anymore. Started the Store to check for other apps updates and voila, the infamous update destroyed my fs24 install! Fortunately I hadn't not so many addons in the community folder. But graphic settings were defaulted except the joystick. Missing the PMDG DC6 in MSFS 2024 (she's here, but...).
March 22, 20251 yr OOT, I also received 44mb update when starting MSFS 2020 DA B760M PRO4 | i5-13400F | RTX 3060 12 GB | G.Skills Ripjaws 32GB | MSI MAG A550BN | Ace Power 1 TB NVMe | Cooler Master Hyper 212
March 22, 20251 yr Well, I left Beta today, and then a row of problems started... No big deal, it's documented and @turbomax has been offering links since FS 2020, and I have it all in my links. But I just did something I had never done before - erasing the "Cloud Footprint" 🙂 BEWARE THE FOLLOWING COMMAND WILL DELETE ALL YOUR PROFILES!!! The command bellow didi it, so, I "lost" all of my Controller settings and when I started MSFS 2024 it asked the initial settings questions, as if I was installing it for the first time. It was on purpose because I had long wanted to redefine my controller assignments after having finally learned how to do it correctly 🙂 start shell:appsFolder\Microsoft.Limitless_8wekyb3d8bbwe!App -DeleteCloudSaves Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)
March 22, 20251 yr Yep, It did the hokey pokey and turned itself around. Luckily for me 10 min. and its back to my setup and running. It did however when shutting down FS2024, Took away my start icon in my task bar. I had to re-ad it to my task bar thru programs list. March 22, 20251 yr Is there any way to cancel the update one it has started? But I checked and my Limitless folder is already gone. Thank you, Asobo, for this word not allowed again. [email protected] ∣ Asus ROG Strix B650E-E ∣ 64Gb@6000MT ∣ NVidia 5090 FE

March 22, 20251 yr I am amazed that they have not pulled this "update" from the server to stop any further downloads and issues. I am avoiding starting FS2024 for now. I suspect I know what I am going to find and really cant be bothered dealing with it today!

March 22, 20251 yr Lost my Fenix A320 despite it showing in the Community Folder. Community Folder correct in UserOpt.cfg as the sim reset its location and I choose it in the Marketplace options. Reinstalled the Fenix and it appears in sim but not any liveries. Ran livery manager and started to reinstall liveries despite it thinking they were installed, removed liveries and reinstalled but they do not show in the sim. Asobo have a lot to answer for. Not tried any other addons. Wonder if I need to delete a cache and let it regenerate one? EDIT: Turned out I had a Community folder created within my MSFS2024/Community folder as I incorrectly assigned too deep a file path Edited March 22, 20251 yr by cj-ibbotson Chris Ibbotson AMD Ryzen 7 7800x3D / MSI AMD MPG x670E Carbon Motherboard / Gigabyte GeForce RTX 5090 Gaming OC 32GB GDDR7 PCI-Express Graphics Card / Corsair DOMINATOR Titanium RGB Grey 64GB 6000MHz AMD EXPO DDR5 / NZXT C1200 Gold ATX 3.1 - Fully Modular Low-Noise PC Gaming Power Supply - 1200 Watts - 80 PLUS Gold / 48” UltraGear™ UHD 4K OLED Gaming Monitor / 40" Philips 4K LED Monitor / Honeycomb Alpha Yoke / Honeycomb Bravo Throttle Quadrant / WinWing Orion Rudder Pedals c/w dampener / WinWing Ursa Minor Airline Joystick / WinWing Airbus MCDU
March 22, 20251 yr I saw this post this morning, opted out of the beta, restarted my computer, fired up 2024 and there were no issues, no request to update, etc. I'm on store version 1.3.23.0 still. Ryan
March 22, 20251 yr The fact that a rogue update can be pushed out just shows me the unprofessional way this project (and 2020) is managed. At my company we have multiple repositories for each project, including dev, stage, pre prod and prod. Any of our developers on a project can trigger an update to dev, but the number of people who can push a build to any other repo reduces until there is but one person who can push anything to prod. And that push to prod requires sign offs from the client. This ensures that at a minimum basic testing of the release was done. This isn’t really anything we came up with. SOC-2 compliance is a set of best practices covering many aspects of software development, and after 4+ years experiencing the way Asobo manages their projects, it is pretty clear that they just don’t have a structured process in place. Which given that this has Microsoft on the cover really surprises me. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 96GB DDR5 | 4K G-Sync | Win11 Pro
