RTX5080 GPU - Any Good in MSFS2024? | TESTED!

Does anyone seriously need to ask if the RTX 5080 GPU will be any good for MSFS 2024?

Welllll....the problem as I see it, is that the 5080 has only 16gigs of vram.  Even in other titles...and even assuming MSFS2024 gets improved as to vram usage, that's still not all that much vram considering the price if you ask me.  I would want a card with more vram is the point I'm trying to make.

Anyway as was said, if you have a 3000-series then maybe, but a guy like me with a 4090, there would need to be something really compelling about a 5090 in MSFS for me to go to it.

Why anyone who has a 4 series would go for this is beyond me. 3 series yeah I get it, but the costs are just on the stupid scale now. I can afford them but I simply am not paying it this time as a mat

  • And it didn’t catch on fire … decided I’m not going to touch an 5000 series nVidia cards, 20+ Amp draw in one power wire?  No thanks. AMD 9070XT performance leaks show it to be as good on RT with

In the bonkers world of GPU's, the same model of the Radeon 7900 XT I bought in July 2023 (Sapphire Pulse), now costs £10 more than I paid for it from the same supplier. At the time, I thought 20

Yep, didn’t portray it as anything else … but I couldn’t care less about Ray Tracing, I turn the feature off in every title so far as they all make the scene way over the top reflective and unrealistic … sure it’s dynamic looking, but completely unrealistic to what you see in the real world.  I don’t know if RT is hardware implementation limitation or graphics developer code issue, either way, I make sure it’s off.

Maybe you saw bad implementations...

RT shadows in FS2024 cockpits look much better than the flickering unstable shadows in MSFS. Screen space reflections and shadows also look hideous outside, try to fly low along a shoreline with the Cub for example. Maybe Asobo will introduce RT reflections and full RT shadows in 2030.

Also other games such as Indiana Jones, Alan Wake 2, Metro, Cyberpunk 2077, etc. look way better with RT.

Of course, there's no free lunch and high-end GPUs are expensive, but it is undeniable in 2025 that RT usually looks better.

If this is same video I watched the other day it is totally worthless to me because he didn't put a 4080 & 4080 super through the test at the same time. It means absolutely nothing without something known to compare it to. Anyway I don't have interest in it because of the low amount of ram and my 3080 now going into it's 5th year is working just great for now, so I can wait a few months and see how it all shakes out.
