How to play MSFS 2020 in VR? First time VR user.

Featured Replies

I'm really enjoying how the game looks in VR in my PSVR2. Before going VR, I was playing the game normally on a 55" 4K TV with my xbox controller. But how do you guys manage to control all the plane in VR? When I have my VR headset on, I can't see my keyboard. How do you guys manage to push the buttons, throttles, flaps, etc. in VR? Really need help with this to make the VR experience smoother.

You basically use your mouse. In VR, you can see your mouse and you simply use it just as you would on your 55" 4K TV.

It works well.

If you don't already have a throttle with flaps, it is a good investment as well.

I don't use an XBox controller, but instead a joystick and a dual-throttle quadrant next to it. Both are on my desk, right next to my keyboard and the mouse.

When I'm in VR, I don't use the keyboard anymore, excepted for very simple keys such as the Escape key to go into the menu and the Space key to reset the VR view position. Both keys can be found easily without looking at the keyboard.

The joystick and the throttle, I don't need to see them, my hands are on them almost all the time and they are just in front of me anyways.

To control the systems of the aircraft, I use the mouse, which is seating right next to my throttles. I use the mouse to activate the various switches in the cockpit, and any kind of levers which are not assigned to anything on my joystick or throttles. It's very easy to find the mouse without seeing it anyways.

And if I REALLY need to find something of the desk, or to look for a key in the keyboard (for example B to reset the altimeter), then I either activate the "passthough" function of my headset or I just lift it up for a second 🙂

Sorry wrong button, double post 😛

Mouse pointer, muscle memory and a yolk.

I would love to get into DCS with my VR headset but it's impossible with the keyboard bindings. Need to invest in $Hotas

I have gotten used to feeling for certain keys when I need them.🧐 I've come to understand how blind people do it.

I use a couple of blobs of Blu Tack on the keyboard - one for resetting the altimeter pressure setting, one for the view point arrows, just lightly scan my fingers over the keyboard until I feel a blob, works well.

Thought the passthrough on my new crystal light was going to be useful, the poor quality black and white picture isn't the problem, it's the lag following my hand movements, lags about 3 secs or so behind real time, makes it unusable. Anyone got it to work properly?

Try these setting in your CL software (PimaxXR runtime):

Room Lighting Frequency - 50hz

Refresh Rate - 72hz

Render Quality - Customize 0.90

Fixed Foveated Rendering - Balanced

Check Smart Smoothing

🤔

If this doesn't work try testing QVC.  Download and install 'QuadViews Companion' and choose 'Give me FPS' then link QuadViews in the PimaxXR runtime so the settings work in the headset.

From what I'm finding out that at all cost 90hz should be your refresh rate settings.  It's better on your eyes.  After the latest update, v1.34.1 you can't go wrong with 90hz or the much improved 90hz Upscale (if your GPU is struggling).  Eye strain is a real thing when it comes to VR.😳

I'm using 90hz upscaling, works well, and passthrough brilliant, thanks.
