Matching GSX to Simbrief

Featured Replies

I've followed directions in this thread: https://www.fsdreamteam.com/forum/index.php/topic,26962.0.html but for the life of me I cannot get GSX to load the exact same amount of passengers that are in my Simbrief flight plan.

The way I read it is you go to your aircraft.cfg, in this case for the PMDG 777, and you edit the entry icao_model= to say icao_model=B77W so that it matches Simbrief. I have done that:

Flight plan has 221 pax as indicated by the stand:

And yet GSX wants to load 370 instead:

The repaint I am using is PMDG's own JAL paint from their Ops Center.

If anyone knows where I'm going wrong I'd sure like to hear it,thanks.

It is not a GSX issue but a PMDG issue.  PMDG loads their own payload settings to balance the CG by randomly assigning passengers to the cargo deck...  Not sure if that is what is happening to you.  I found it is a sequence or order of events that causes this.

The workaround is to NOT Set Payload when you import your simbrief plan within the PMDG CDU.  Just import the Fliightplan then select  "Set Fuel"  and then make sure you select GSX boarding "after" importing the flightplan and selecting fuel... you should then hear GSX inputting the values from simbrief depicted by random clicks as it punches away at the lower CDU.

It's nothing you are doing though this was by design from PMDG.

Definitely hearing those random clicks, thanks for the tips, I will give it a go.

That makes sense, I have noticed before (likely back in P3D) that the PMDG CDU payload doesn't always match Simbrief.

Thanks again man 👍

Interesting, I didn't realize GSX modified payload.  I thought it was visual only so I never bothered paying much attention to whether they matched.  I'll need to try this.

Why are you doing this at all? The PMDG 777 is already coming by default with the B77W code (working fine on my side by the way). No need to do anything with config files. I suggest deleting all 777 profiles, just to be on the safe side they aren't interfering. It will work fine by default out of the box.

Check your GSX settings, you have to have OFF the option called "estimate passenger numbers".
Also make sure your departure time in Simbrief is *after* your current sim time, same date but later on the clock. Otherwise GSX will not consider the flightplan active.

I'll tag the GSX dev @virtuali, who is always quick to help here.

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

Some repaints on the PMDG 777 don't have the code. Some don't even have the ICAO ex: AAL, BAW. I had pink textures and sometimes no passengers boarding before this fix last month.

I see the OP referred to the 777, does anyone know if this 'anomoly' is present in the 737?

It doesn't happen neithner on the 737 nor on the 777 for me.

Interesting you mention that because i just noticed today that there are discrepancies there as well

In my case and I need to check my simbrief profile the -800 had 184 passengers, the United EvoBlue 737-800 CDU only as 12 first and 148 Eco seats so 160 passengers total, GSX loaded 180 which didn't match simbrief or the 737 load in the CDU

So yeah, other than that all good LOL

Just to follow up I checked this morning and I was not using a PMDG simbrief profile for the 737.  Loaded a Plan using the PMDG First Class config and Simbrief had 154 passengers and GSX matched.  148 in Economy and 6 in First.  Now this "IS" United so First "should" be full but I will let that slide LOL

I think that's why I had 184 passengers yesterday and I am "guessing" GSX is actually intelligent enough to know that's too many and only loaded 180...

With the correct profile in simbrief all seems to be working as expected though.  So a little user error on that one.
