Disable double scenery

Featured Replies

Just now I  purchased the France VFR northwest package to do some sightseeing in the area. The package contains LFGR, but I already own this airport separately. Is there a way to disable the LFGR in the France VFR package? Both products were purchased in the marketplace.

Cheers, Bert

Yes there is a way but I can't remember at the moment.  I believe I read something on their website about it.  I was able to disable one of their sceneries when I had a better version but it happened on so many ocassions that I eventually gave up on France VFR (which is why I have forgotten how to do it).

You could try searching for LFGR in the content manager and Uninstall the duplicate. This assumes that the airport shows up as a separate entity.

Rename the following files by adding ".bak":

francevfr-airports-north-west-vfr\scenery\cvx_lfgr.bgl

francevfr-airports-north-west-vfr\scenery\obj_lfgr.bgl

francevfr-airports-north-west-vfr\AirportServices\lfgr\Services.spb

(e.g. cvx_lfgr.bgl will become cvx_lfgr.bgl.bak)

Same applies to disabling any of the remaining airports with the applicable ICAO code. To reactivate them, simply remove ".bak" from the files again.

No separate entry in the content manager I'm afraid...

Thanks. Unfortunately I cannot locate the files, apart from the Services.spb file. In my OneStore folder the France VFR package is contained in the folder francevfr-airport-pno-novfrairports. There is a scenery folder inside, but that folder only contains a texture folder and a single file, kibefavj.fsarchive.

I've searched my harddrive but I can't find both bgl files...

In Addons Linker you can search for dublicates (tools>check for dublicates). Might be worth a try.

Thanks. Nothing found. Probably because it scans the community folder only...

I have france-vfr-nordouest installed to Community, but I don't have that airport.

On the coverage map at france-vfr website at JustFlight, it shows that airport would be in france-vfr-nordest, which I don't think is available yet.

Strange. I bought the north west package in the marketplace and LFGR is definitely part of it.

Items purchased in the marketplace are encrypted. I don't think you can edit these t all so you might only be able to disable them all at once.

According to their website, LFGR is NOT part of this package, but LFRG is!

Oh dear, I may be slightly dyslectic! You are absolutely right. I meant LFRG the whole time 🙃 Nevertheless, I think it is indeed impossible to disable one airfield from the package because of the encryption.

It may not be a problem after all. With the France VFR package installed next to RMStudios LFRG it appears the latter one is showing, without any sign of conflict. I have no clue how the MSFS scenery system works, but it looks like the RMStudios package somehow excludes the France VFR version.

Usually scenery is sorted by foldername but I am unsure whether the community or the official folder takes precedence. However, when both airports are installed they will both be shown unless the top one has an exclusion zone.

I've seen this on some of airports where two buildings, refuel stations, flagpoles etc. overlap each other. Sometimes it is not immediately noticable though since the objects should be more or less in the exact same spot and look similar.

If you want to can force the order in which scenery is shown with the built-in Package Reorder Tool.
You can find it in the Options menu under General Options->Experimental->Package Reorder Tool.  When you switch it ON, you'll get to change the order. I don't really know whether the scenery you want on top needs a higher or lower number though.
