In drone mode. Move the camera away from the subject and then zoom in.
Just like we do in photography. 🙂

Has anyone ever mentioned this to Asobo? Wide angle view in external mode is absolutely not the way to do it.

Good luck with getting any changes to the camera system!   Has it had a single change or improvement since August 2020.   I don't think it has.

My best guess is, the wide angle effect is to avoid the look of lower resolution ground textures.
Those textures get more blurry when zooming in. It is also always been like that in FSX/P3D.

The external view in P3D does not look the same as in MSFS. It looks relatively normal.

I agree it has less wide angle effect but it is still there.

There is no way to change the default exterior video.  I use drone views often for screenshots because of how wide angled the default is.
