Because it’s never been done like that. No software is released like that. Not even operating systems are released like that. Even your smartphone has regular updates. In a perfect world, one would never need updates. But this isn’t a perfect world.

For example, for the v11 run, v11.55 was the final release. Final as in there won’t be coming further updates and bug fixes. But we can expect several years of those in the v12 run.

See how it says "is now final"? 😄 Laminar Research customer -- Asobo/MS customer -- not an X-Aviation customer - or am I? 😉

IMHO. One of these has AA off, the other has FXAA. I'll let you guess which is which. Setup: RX6800 | 5800X3D + B450 | 32GB 3200MHz | X-Plane 12

The point of a final release is to ship a product that is acceptable in quality. This release is acceptable to Laminar because: 1. They had to cash in on Christmas sales 2. There are enough people who consider this the best simulator ever, with all the issues and lack of features included Setup: RX6800 | 5800X3D + B450 | 32GB 3200MHz | X-Plane 12

December 26, 20223 yr Quote Exactly. 12.00 is final. 12.01 is coming, with more fixes. I'll add this to my list: - poor performance - upgrade your PC, this is how x-plane works, you need a 24 core CPU to use only 1/4 of it - real time weather doesn't work - do you really need it? - AA doesn't work - it's not really an AA issue - scenery looks bad - not a scenery simulator Setup: RX6800 | 5800X3D + B450 | 32GB 3200MHz | X-Plane 12
December 26, 20223 yr Quote with AA working perfectly I'll note this and come back to you when maybe Laminar decides to fix AA. Why would they fix anything that works perfectly, right? Setup: RX6800 | 5800X3D + B450 | 32GB 3200MHz | X-Plane 12

For a first stable release of a new version of the software. You may disagree, and you're entitled to. But the fact remains, it was agreed upon in the Slack channel that 12.00 is stable enough to ship as the first stable release of XP12.00. 7 minutes ago, bogdansrb said: 1. They had to cash in on Christmas sales They didn't have to do anything. If they did it for the Christmas rush, it paid off. Big time. They sold 1000 units on Steam in the week leading up to Christmas. Is it wrong to capitalize on a Christmas rush? 7 minutes ago, bogdansrb said: 2. There are enough people who consider this the best simulator ever, with all the issues and lack of features included The same can be said of MSFS. 2 years post release, they still have a plethora of issues to fix. It's admirable that you, and others, hold Laminar to such a high standard, that they are expected to push out a final, bug free, stable release in the first version, right after a 3 months early access/release candidate run, but that just won't happen, with any software or any company. I've posted a solution to this in several forums, including this one. I'm not going to repeat it again. 4 minutes ago, bogdansrb said: real time weather doesn't work - do you really need it? It works, as of yesterday. 5 minutes ago, bogdansrb said: AA doesn't work - it's not really an AA issue Who said it's not an AA issue? 5 minutes ago, bogdansrb said: scenery looks bad - not a scenery simulator This is so subjective, there's no point in responding to it. There are many screenshots posted where the scenery looks incredible. In saying that, if the scenery isn't to your liking, then don't purchase. We've heard it before. Many times. And the response is always the same. If you want scenery, there's another sim that will give you what you want. Either that, or you can download ortho scenery.
