Hi All,

MSFS has been playing up slightly recently, I was wondering if anyone else had any experience with this?

I am not in the Beta, so this is the current version of the sim. It started a week or so ago just after I had updated the FBW A320 to its latest development build. The sim starts fine, but then after selecting a flight in the A320 (which I have been using for over a year without issue) one of two things will happen, either the flight loading screen will hang at roughly a third of the loading bar or it will load, but then the track ir will stop working. More often than not it just hangs. If I delete the A320 then all is good again. 

Here is what I have tried so far:

• Reinstalling the FBW through the downloader
• Reinstalling a different version (ie the stable build)
• Downloading different versions from the site directly
• Removing all the liveries (I currently only have 1 Easyjet livery)

The slightly frustrating thing is every time I do re-download it, it will work flawlessly for a flight or two and then revert back to hanging on start of the flight again. Again I remove it from the community folder and then the sim is fine again.

Flew perfectly yesterday using the experimental build, did 2 flights with no issues. Then today it hung again. 

The slightly odd thing is that my TrackIR still seemed to work for a sec in the default cessna and then crash even though I didn't have the FBW installed.

Has anyone experienced anything similar to this before, its a shame as I really enjoy the mod, its really an amazing effort by all those involved. 

 

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

I'm having this issue with all versions of the FBW A320. I am in the SU9 BETA tho. Just when I decided to take the time to learn the A320

Many people are suffering this. I have found only one cure. Just before you click 'Fly', change your livery, if you must use a particular paint, select a livery then reselect the original. It never fails for me. My guess is that the Cloud doesn't recognise there is a paint already selected and is waiting for you to pick one. It is, of course, highly likely I'm wrong about that. 🙄

Thanks for that! Interesting, I wonder what brought that on then, perhaps that's why it initially works with a fresh install as I then have to re-select the aircraft!

Do you know if the crashing of my TrackIR is somehow related? It seems odd but it has coincided pretty much exactly with this problem!

When you TIR 'crashing' do you mean not starting when MFS starts? I did have a period when TIR wasn't recognised by MSF but since I've not been having 'hangs' and having to restarting I've not had that problem. Could be related.

God I'm pushing my luck. Any bets I get a hang this evening? 😵

I can't speak to TrackIR, but just to let you know that I am not experiencing what you are, even though I'm using the Dev FBW A32NX with one livery. Do note that after each update, the FBW A32NX has to recompile the WASM modules, and this can take a long time, 5 to 20 minutes depending on the system. I would suggest doing the clean install and then starting a flight without TrackIR to ensure that all is well with the A320. If so, then try with TrackIR.

Yeah I tried your method Ron, that worked! Although I’ll see how I do over the next few days to see if that’s the work around for the short term!

As far as TrackIR is concerned when I say it crashes what happens is it’ll track for around 4 or 5 seconds and then just stops. This only started happening at the same time as the hung starts. 
 

@Jimbrown I did not realise that there was another folder who’s contents I need to delete when removing the FBW, I may also give that a go as well! Thanks!

I have exactly the same problem, and it killed my flightsim evening yesterday once more because I spent all my time trying to load the FBW A320 ( Exp ver here) 😥

I tried to delete content.xml with no joy and managed to load the plane only after a clean install but as antic81 explained it is a workaround for a few flights only it seems.

Well I will try Ron Attwood suggestion with the livery loading. I hope it will work 🙏

Hey Ron,

Could you run through the exact process you use here? It just hung again after I selected the departure airport then changed liveries, then changed back again. 

Just changed to a default aircraft after removing the FBW folder from my sim and it would appear to be hung again.

Interestingly I also notice that Flightsim shows a 2 in brackets in the task manager and appears to be using very little CPU when it hangs, but it does not appear to be not responding.

I am now starting to wonder if it’s something else entirely.

I do have such a love hate relationship with software! Haha!

Actually this would now appear to be something completely different. The sim does appear to randomly be either failing to load and hanging on fly now splash/loading screen. Or it will load and then TrackIR will track movement for a few seconds and then one of the lights goes out and it stops head tracking. I have no idea if that is related or not!

I have now removed everything from the community folder and it still appears to be happening. I guess the next step will be a full re-install. Although I am doubtful if that will really solve the issue or not. Its a bit frustrating as I have not ever had a crash in the sim in the 18 months or so since release.

I was so sure it must be FBW related but now that does not appear to be the case, it was really the only change in the sim from one day when all was well to the next day when these issues started.

In many cases I even would have no idea to achieve the issues people are having by an update of the FBW. Sometimes the compiled wasm modules are just corrupted for unknown reasons. Then it helps to clean those generated files and then it’s fine. It happens rarely for me even when I develop which then means a ton of updates.

Most of the time I have DevMode on and I always use FastCompilation otherwise it would be hell.

Hopefully a full new install will solve the issue, if not then I am starting to run short on ideas!

Another slight frustration is the fact that you cannot move files out of the community folder onto your desktop...unless I am missing something?

Basically when I try it just says no you are not allowed to move them. I created a backup folder within the same folder that the community folder is in, I move stuff over when doing updates etc. 

Anyway lets see what happens after the fresh install, took the afternoon to download the 124 GB's and now I am onto the other 30 or so GB in the marketplace. 

As I said before, MSFS has really behaved itself with me up until this point, I remember both P3D and FSX I used to spend more time messing about with the program than actually flying, with the thought of doing a fresh install the stuff of nightmares!

 

Sorry for slight bump, but I've been getting this same issue on and off for weeks when trying to use the FBW A320. the blue loading line goes all the way across with the various messages superimposed on the ticker bar, then it just hangs. A small amount of HD activity noticeable on the PC and Task Manager shows CPU's at around 23% for FS with plenty of RAM to spare. But it never loads. With the default 737 or 747 I can usually be up and running in less than a minute.

Have to get out of MSFS with Ctrl-Alt-Del.

Guess it's time to bite the bullet and see if the wife will let me buy the PMDG 737 instead, switch to that for my short commercial flights.

Have you got GIAS installed? It can cause this.
