I'm pretty sure you won't find a SINGLE post from ANY user in ANY XP forum saying that "X-Plane isn't for having fun". My friendly advice for you, is to make more efforts when reading posts on the forums, so you can understand them better instead of getting them all wrong! 😉

I'm hoping to have fun with both. Even thought it has been drummed into me that X-Plane isn't for having fun. It's for serious flight simmers who use it as an engineering tool. But it turns out that serious flight simmers now require 'eye candy' after all.😂

I have not purchased or added any freeware scenery say for hd mesh. Ill just take what they give.

I know exactly who he is talking about. Fortunately they aren't on here.

But there is a non zero faction of xplane users who are of the opinion that anything "entertainment" related has no place in the xplane universe, and are livid LR put the sim on Steam and mobile.

Just like Sparky, I know exactly who these people are.

Laminar Research customer -- Asobo/MS customer -- not an X-Aviation customer - or am I? 😉

Apart the fact that using XP in a realistic manner does not exclude it from having fun (heck, even doing a real flight with a C172 is basically "having fun"!), even if there would be someone explicitly saying that "XP isn't for having fun", they must be the 0.1% of forum participants, whereas Jarmstro makes it appear most users think that way.

Lies and distortion of facts are the marker of trolls and haters here.

Not even that,

But a very vocal minority who will go well beyond the call of duty to get their way.

The ones responsible for getting Mars pulled because it "wasn't for commercial use" (I suspect much to NASA's displeasure)

Something that had been a staple of xplane since

Well ... I can understand that some people have fun with MSFS 2020, because it looks quite nice. No one has ever doubted it. However, that's not the point. Why can't (er even worse, don't WANT) some people understand that for others the fun lies in the aspect of simulation?

Again, as I stated already some times ... the Potemkin villages effect. Some people want to have a real house instead of a facade. Even if the house doesn't look very nice, but it has stable walls, a roof, heating, a kitchen, bedrooms ... whereas even if the facade was made of gold. GOLD!! How can one not like GOLD? Well ... not when there aren't walls, roof, ... behind it (but that's only those stubborn X-Planer's). You get the point? I'm afraid ... not. Haters gonna hate and will never understand. You can even manufacture the facade out of diamonds, but without walls, roof, ... I won't take it. Why???? Because I don't want to have fun 🤣. You get the point? I'm still afraid ... not.

How many times do we have to discuss this to death until it's finally understood? Yeah, ok ... but ... photogrammetry ... aarrgghhhh ...

I love seeing those ICE and RE trains, although it's rather odd having them run on S-Bahn tracks as well. 😆

Indeed ... same for me. However and unfortunately, X-Plane doesn't distinguish between "normal" railroads and S-Bahn. I don't know whether in other countries we have a similar constellation and if Austin is aware of that. But I hope you still have fun with X-Plane 😊, even though it isn't a railroad simulator 🙃.

I truly believe MS2020 users come here because they are "VERY WORRIED" about XP12's release!!!

Unless someone has some kind of $$$$ investment on MS, why would anybody be "VERY WORRIED" about XP12 release. Ridiculous and baseless statement if you ask me, Im a FS2020 user (XP user for a long time too) and really looking forward to XP12 release.

And only normal, from a consumer point of view. Choice is good because we are all different.

What puzzles some of us is why certain individuals come here declaring X-Plane is death, v12 is a complete disaster ( it’s not out yet) and those who don’t agree with them are fans and Austin worshippers.

OK so photogrammetry is unnecessary and only wanted by lowly fun seeking gamers like me, but apparently better looking clouds, lighting, buildings and assets, airports, trains, trees, grass, shadows and you name it are of course of vital importance to serious flight simmers (who prefer to fill their hard drives up with orthos). 😂

Like your statement above about choice, the same is for humanity, we are all different in many ways. We all know LR/XP are no dead, they same was said when P3D was announced and here we are, waiting for XP12 to be released. I would just ignore those individuals, probably they just can't put a stop to their ignorance.

Oohh .. I'm very impressed by you. You are really going the extra mile to understand it wrong. I used photogrammetry as a synonym for "looking nice". However ... what I wrote above: that's exactly NOT the point. Heave you read (and understood) this passage? And I'm sure, you will twist my words by subsequently writing "Aahh ... ok ... so, you admit that 'good looking' stuff is important!" Again, again and AGAIN ... and again: it's one of the aspects of a flight sim, but not THE ONE AND MOST IMPORTANT. At least not for these stubborn X-Planers, who will never understand that photogrammyetry, you name it, ... IS THE MOST IMPORTANT aspect of a flight sim.
Why the heck am I writing this down again and again, when some guys are trying very hard to understand it wrong? I don't know for sure, as I can't prove it valid for legal purposes, but I'm pretty sure they deliberately understand it wrong. If not, what shall I say?

How many times should I write it down? A flight simulator is a flight simulator, is a flight simulator, is a FLIGHT simulator. And it is a lot of fun. And it is a lot of fun. And it is a lot of fun. Yeah, ok ... but ... photogrammetry ... you name it ... ... aarrgghhhh ...

Ok, now I finally admitted that X-Planer's (and only them of course) are stubborn, whereas "the others" are very open minded, friendly, you name it, ... people. If that's what you wanted to hear, so be it ... You have won. Do you feel good now? Fine, I am happy to help where I can.

Because despite their claims to the contrary, they know MS needs a lot more investment to match even XP11, that investment is already not guaranteed by any stretch of the imagination, and is in serious jeopardy if/when XP12 retakes the visual lead and absorbs the cash flow that would be needed to justify further investment.

I'll chime in.

that it works as expected when I want to use it.
