I assume you are speaking about P3D V4.5, right? Well, with V5 I must say that I am able to reach much higher fps without significant stutters. When you get a chance, try MSFS or V5 with unlimited frame-rate (or locked at 60) and I think you will be surprised.

I’m in no hurry to buy v5 because I’d have to purchase the PMDG737 again plus SimStarterNG and getting the Vertx Diamond DA62 working is tricky. I know the fps are higher but in all honesty I don’t have a problem with v4.5 which is a very polished sim.

Have the VRAM problems been fixed in v5? I’d feel more confident when v5.2 or later is available. Having spent a long time tweaking v4 I’d hate to have to start all over again.

I’m not considering MSFS for anything other than a VFR sim.

No and I still get Device Hung errors from time to time, but once you get a taste of what MSFS can do, V4 just looks like FS 5.1. V5 at least provides EA, which reduces the graphical gap a tiny bit.

With an 11Gb graphics card that's disappointing. I know MSFS looks great but without GoFlight drivers and no Radar Contact v4 those are just two major reasons I will not buy it.

The problem is the cost:benefit sucks and a huge detriment comes from asking your CPU/GPU to always crank out as many frames as possible.  I believe this myth persists primarily because 99% of the naysayers have never personally witnessed vsycn to 30Hz in either P3D or MSFS.   The assumption is that higher FPS is always better.  In fact it's almost all you read in here about a few more fps.   I say this w/ the full experience of running both at vsync to 60Hz and vsync to 30Hz.  In scenarios where the hardware can always deliver at least 60fps, it's fine.  But here's the catch:  it's not really better!  Why is that?  Because perfectly smooth is already just that.  I did this for awhile in P3D based on exactlly the same assummption, flying the easy to process Majestic Q400, and could easily maintain 60fps@60hz where I was flying and w/ the settings I was setup at.  Of course the problem is the you're going to be dialing back complexity when you get into a PMDG NGXu flying in or out of into KLAX or KJFK.  The biggest single performance enhancer for both sims:  vsync to 30Hz.   Few can do it though, I understand.
