January 26, 20188 yr Good evening, i recently download LFSL from Occitania. Though the read me was in French, I think I did everything I was supposed to. When activated through FSX, LFSL was at #1 In the scenery library. As far as I know, I haven’t installed any other LFSL scenery. When doing a test flight, I found I was sitting back at the default airport. I’ve used ADE to check that the new airport BGL worked. All looked good. I even recompiled the airport and placed it in the Add On Scenery / Scenery folder. Unfortunately, I can still only see the default airport. Is there anything else I can try to make this work? I’ve debated deleting the BGL that holds the default airport, but that seems a little drastic. Cheers, colin
January 26, 20188 yr Are you sure the airport is being found by FSX? Is it visible in the Scenery Library once you open FSX? Also, since you recompiled it are you sure you got all of the files? Deleting the default isn't necessary. As long as the new airport sits above the old, it will override ("usually"), the default field. Plus the default BGL contains multiple airports and you probably don't want to lose though. One way to test is to install Little Navmap and create the FSX database. Selecting the airport, then information will show you all of the active AFCADs for that airport. Ernie
January 26, 20188 yr Hi Colin, I hadn't come across this Occitania scenery site before but as the screenshots looked quite good, I decided to download LFSL and try it. However I have the same problem as you - just default scenery is visible when I go to LFSL. I then checked for duplicate AFCAD files and there appear to be none. I did however notice that when I search for LFSL it comes up in FSX as Rosieres AB near the city of Toul. However when I search for the city of Brive the airport LFBV (La Roche) comes up! Again if I go to this airport just default scenery is visible so clearly there is something very odd going on here! Checking on the map they are both close together so could one have been renamed or redesignated? Bill
January 26, 20188 yr Administrators LFSL, since 2010, is the new Brieve-Souillac airport. before that is was Toul-Rosieres AB. I also tried it and nothing is updated for LFSL Charlie Aron AVSIM Board of Directors-ADMIN/Moderator-Registrar Awaiting the new Microsoft Flight Sim and the purchase of a new system. Running a Chromebook for now!

January 26, 20188 yr Maybe it needs an ALT stub BGL file created with ADE. These files reside in /scenery/world/scenery and are used to change the altitude and/or name of an airport. But more likely, it sounds like the 3rd party version does not have the correct exclusions and is not overriding the stock version. Does the Occitania version have a vector/polygon BGL file? This is commonly referred to as a CVX BGL file in ADE parlance.

January 26, 20188 yr OK, there is a file available to resolve this issue and it can be found on the Occitania website about halfway down a page titled La Scene - it is labelled as an optional correction for LFSL and even if not translated from French it is pretty obvious. This file needs to be placed in the FSX\scenery\0601\scenery folder and it replaces the default APX49140 file which should (as always) be backed up or renamed first just to be on the safe side. I've just tested it and it works! Bill
January 26, 20188 yr Author Morning all, thank you for your replies! Yes, there is a CVX file. I have some of their other sceneries and they all seem to work. In the ‘read me’ file it does seem to address the issue that the old airport name seems to come up when selecting it in FSX. I wasn’t quite able to work out when they suggested. There is also something on their website. They have a download for a fix. It’s an updated file to replace the bgl file holding the default airport. I’ve tried that fix, but still get the same result. Colin
January 26, 20188 yr Author Hey Bill, I should’ve read your reply before posting my last one. I tried the fix yesterday, but it didn’t seem to work for me. I’ll try it again this morning just in case I missed something. Cheers, colin
January 26, 20188 yr Author A quick update... after installing the fix AND turning off Vector’s AEC, everything seems to work. Thank everyone !
January 26, 20188 yr By the way, there's some nice freeware airport scenery for France on that site - have just downloaded and installed a few more of them! Bill
January 26, 20188 yr The whole way that both FSX and P3d prioritize scenery.cfg is really arcane. There are so many things that can go wrong that it is amazing to me that any 3rd party airport works correctly. This is the first time that I've seen a developer modify a stock airport file. Can someone tell me if the new file is the file that contains all of that geographic region's airports or is it a terrain file of the region's vectors and polygons? The former will open with ADE and the latter will only open with tmfviewer. I might be able to tell just from the file name. Also, FTX Vector is also notorious for interfering with 3rd party airports as are the FTX regions so that's not surprising either.
January 26, 20188 yr Author Bill- i started looking for LFBP (Pau) and stumbled onto that site. Really impressed with what I’ve seen. It looks like there is also a VFR package as well. Cheers, colin
January 26, 20188 yr Author I believe the file replaces an airport file. Right after I replaced it, I used ADE to see if it could find the default airport. The iCAO still existed, but the AFCAD was gone.
