I am in a similar boat to you Jhon. I agree the biggest problem with migrating is the cost and right now I don't have that money to spend. I will be buying for FSX and will consider in the next few years when to migrate. I understand that p3d is better and being constantly developed however my FSX is running well and not causing any issues.

Exactly this.

I will be buying for FSX - which as it stands with all my scenery, addon aircraft and airports - represents a considerable financial outlay. I wonder how it built up to be so much without me realising!

I also think the next couple of years are going to see some game changers in the simming world so I'll stick with FSX for now.

Very impressive but too big and too expensive for me. I simply wouldn't get enough use out of it to justify the price tag. Furthermore, I expect either DTG or LM to release something 64 bit in the next 6 months so I'm refraining from any big purchases until it becomes clear when it will be compatible and how much extra that is going to cost.

I'll buy a 767 when (if) it's out.

The 747 just doesn't ring any bells for me. Besides, it should be pricey.

CASE: Fractal Terra Silver CPU: AMD R5 7800X3D 5.0Ghz RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 GPU: nVidia RTX 4070 Ti SUPER · SSDs: Samsung 990 PRO 2TB M.2 PCIe · PNY XLR8 CS3040 2TB M.2 PCIe · VIDEO: LG-32GK650F QHD 32" 144Hz FREE/G-SYNC · MISC: Thrustmaster TCA Airbus Joystick + Throttle Quadrant · MSFS2024 · Windows 11

I;m sure I'll buy it after it's out a couple of weeks so I can get opinions from other purchasers. My problem is I doubt I'll use it much like my beautiful PMDG T7. I'm just not much for long flights and time compress seems kind of pointless waste of time. I'll see. I know there are short hops for these aircraft but that doesn't use them to their potential.

No way I can resist buying unless the price is :nea: unbearable. Rob said it was in line with the T7 so .

I definitely do not invest money in FSX anymore as - for me - P3D 64bit will be the future and therefore I won't buy the 747   neither   for  FSX  nor for P3D  V3.x.

I will definitely buy the 747 V3 when P3D 64bit is released since I do not want to pay twice for the 747.

And yes, I know PMDG "is planning" to sell the 747 for P3D 64bit without an update fee but I do not believe it until the day has come when P3D and PMDG 747 V3 are available as 64bit versions.

I'm not sure it is easy, but maybe you can still find some store that sells boxed version of this product for FSX, which I guess as long as they have stock is OK. I've not really looked into it but I believe that is the only way to do so right now.

Maybe they will get back to it at somepoint who knows ;)

Why go with a boxed version of FSX? The Steam Edition has been re-compiled and re-optimized, also it's been set up to handle VAS and memory management in a much more efficient manner. I find it much smoother and fluid Etc. My boxed version has been sitting on the shelf for ages. When the grand kids grow up a bit more I will build em a machine and let them play with it.

Send me a PM, maybe I can help you!

Your choice of course.

I totally agree with you, though you misread his question. He was asking for a way to obtain the PMDG MD-11 for FSX, which should work with FSX Steam. But this product is not sold anymore by PMDG, that's why I answered him he could look into boxed version, as there were such version of this product, which might be the only way to obtain it now :)

PMDG is developing airliners that are popular in real life.

The MD11 is beautiful but not very common.

I have to agree with this.  I bought a new machine last year and got FSX:SE thinking it would 'hold me over' until I could afford P3D, but I'm quite satisfied with it.  When/if P3D goes 64-bit maybe I'll jump ship, but until then I'm in a happy place right now.  Steam puts it on sale occasionally, so you can buy it for a song and a dance if you don't want to pay full price.

Regarding the original question, I'm sure I'll buy the 747v3 for Steam, but probably later this year when I have the time to dive in.

I do.

You misunderstood my use of English.  The lack of a question mark (?) indicates that my sentence was not a question, and the use of 'who' shows that I am a person who (or 'that') understands why this will not happen :-)
