Prepar3D v 2.0 will come out in November

Featured Replies

I believe LM indicated v3.0 for 64bit (please don't quote me) ... guessing most likely will have a 32bit and 64bit version 3.0 where the 32bit version will be compatible with existing products and the 64bit version will obviously break compatibility.  This will give folks the opportunity to slowly migrate as developers migrate their products to a 64bit version (same would apply to their "professional" customers).

That's a great statement about the future of the hobby--it looks very good ;o)

If people are going to leave fsx i think pmdg last product is the T7 no one will buy the pmgh747v2 if they tried p3d 2 becuz it user new technologist with cards like gtx 700series there will be a huge performace boost

FSX time is over now is p3d 2.0

Good point. I was waiting for the 747 v2 to be released but if P3D 2.0 is the new sliced bread then I won't buy a single thing anymore that is FSX only.

Why is PMDG the ONLY company in the world not supporting P3D?

Kinda foolish if you ask me..

This looks amazing.

This looks amazing.

They are not the only company by any measure.

They stand in a chorus line along with Flight1, Eaglesoft, and FSLabs just to name the more common ones.

Because pmdg is for entertain and p3d is not for entertain. But they still dun need to block it from installing? Like ngx just install and fly like in fsx but its in p3d

From what i know Flightbeam , aerosoft and carenado is supporting it

I'm a bit surprised at the lack of activity. The announcement that everyone was free from NDA came almost a couple of days ago and so far only one vid and a handful of screenshots. I was hoping all the forums would have been absolutely spammed with P3DV2 glamour shots by now...

The J41 and the NGX work fine.

That's great news, since those are the only two PMDG products that I own. It's just a shame that I would not be able to run the Flight1 Cessna Citation Mustang. Very disappointing :(

scotchegg,

check the ORBX Forum, there are numerous screenshots from varied areas and more detailed infos from beta testers.

(Sorry, Quote and Copy/Paste seem to be broken under IE11 - someone to look after this?)

FSLabs just to name the more common ones.

Personally, I think the FSLabs A32X series will be compatible with P3DV2 only through the professional SKU of the product.
Just a guess.

Aamir Thacker

Can anyone figure out the pricing?! What is required in order to use it like FSX? Is it the 49 dollar or 199 dollar version? Or is it the 9 dollar per month deal?!?!

Take note that those prices are for the current 1.4 version. The 2.0 prices are yet unknown.

That's great news,

The not so great news is that you are not allowed to use them in P3D. I would advice everyone to stop posting about the use of the products of that developer in P3D or this topic will be locked and you will be banned. That company does not support P3D and does not allow you to use their products in it. PERIOD. Case closed. The next person to bring this up again is a total moron.

Back to P3D 2.0, please.

I understand this to be the case as well, but not at a price we would be willing to sit well with, and like PMDG's Prepar3D offerings may only be made available to qualifying institutions, not to general users. In my view the end result is the same, for us users they are for all intense purposes outside the P3D conversation.

I have never worried about backwards compatibility. In fact I love having several sims to play with, all tailored for different usage.

Right now I have FS2004 set up for King Air and 767 operations only and still use my almost ten year old addons (apart from those with activation issues - DRM has made a lot of them unusable), but I have tons of freeware, so I don't sweat it.

FSX I use for missions (just got the Sahara addon from Aerosoft) and with lots of freeware addons. I also fly Red Bull races and Carrier ops, probably the two most difficult things to master in the sim.

Prepar3D I use for ORBX scenery - got Global and all their regions, and Norwegian freeware. I use it mostly for VFR flying.

With the new Prepar3D I don't plan on abandoning any of my current sims. It will be a nice addition to the collection and I couldn't care less about my old addons not working. I will get new ones for Prepar3D, and I'd like scenery and aircraft that are new to me.

I'm mostly concerned if the freeware developers will adopt the new platform. I use less and less payware these days.

Simmerhead - Making the virtual skies unsafe since 1987!

The next person to bring this up again is a total moron.

I'm glad you said "next" person there, Jeroen....

I totally agree. I expected a huge wave of screenshots and videos, yet I have to look everywhere to find just a few.

Actually P3D works better with multiple linked computers. One to handle the sim and the others to handle the graphics.

I saw a bona fide training simulator for the Saab Grippen that needed 11 computers to work properly. Only one was handling the simulation. The other 10 were handling the graphics. Like: One for the HUD, One for each terrain display. One for each MFDs, etc.

If you have the disposable income, you can try using two computers for better performance. One handles the simulation and the other one handles the graphics output.

I'd be really interested in how this works and can be set up over multiple computers as I have a couple of spare (slightly not top of the line) PCs, do you have or can you direct us to any resources/more info at all please? Thanks k
