March 5, 201214 yr Flight is missing a lot of "stuff" that we all expect to see brought forward from FSX. One of those items is "real world weather" wherein FSX would download weather data from a 3rd party weather reporting station/system and implement that weather in your flight. I've seen RWW references appear regularly in this forum as being an important missing component. So, being as I am, I pondered the thought and came to realize, for me, it isn't that big of a deal. In FSX, I often used the RWW feature. In practice, I found the RWW to be only kinda similar to actual weather conditions that I see out my window. Rarely did what was outside closely resemble that I found in my virtual world. What I liked most about it was I would get changing weather conditions that didn't really mimic actual but did mimic the fact that weather does change as time and distance passes, so that part I do like about the FSX RWW system. In Flight, I've noticed that weather does change in relation to time and distance so, for me, RWW isn't that big of an omission as it's the changing conditions that I like. That being said, I'd think RWW will be a pretty easy item to implement and they'll probably add it sometime in the future and I'll welcome it with open arms, I just don't miss it.
March 5, 201214 yr Well if Flight ever gets to the point, that regions I fly in are modeled, then I would certainly like to see real world weather added as an option to the weather settings.I still love and fly FSX and will continue to do so, so I can satisfy that need with it for now. Don B
March 5, 201214 yr Man, I've got really mixed feelings on this one. About half the time in FSX I use real weather as defined by an addon, and about half the time with the fair weather setting. In Flight I love the severe weather conditions. In fact I think the weather is Flight's strongest characteristic and is light years ahead of anything before it. So as I said, I am really mixed up! :huh:Great subject!Kind regards,
March 5, 201214 yr RWW isn't a complete must for me, but being able to edit the weather to my liking is quite important... The few weather themes we have now don't cut it for me! Sometimes I like to have overcast with hardly any wind and sometimes I like overcast with heavy winds. For example. (Usually I want little wind... ).I have ASE for FSX but 99% of the time I loaded the weather from a specific day of which I knew was great to fly in. The current weather seldom was the kind of weather I wanted to fly in...

As well as the time of day. When I load up a flight in FSX, I simply will not fly in anything other than real world weather, REX, and using the time of day I am in. If it is night time and I want to do a flight in FSX, well then I am going to be flying in the dark. If I want to do a flight and watch the sunrise, then I am up early on Saturday morning and planning my flight accordingly.Wait a minute - I am hard core, yet enjoying the heck out of Flight - yegads!! March 5, 201214 yr Moderator For me it really depends on what the "real weather" is like in the area I plan to fly, and just what aircraft. If the real weather is solid IMC and I want to do a low and slow GA flight, then no I do NOT want "real weather!" :drinks: Fr. March 5, 201214 yr Minor correction: There are actually 10 weather themes in Flight (which is way more than "a few").But I still want Real World Weather in Flight, as I fly FSX mostly with it. RWW was one of the things I lobbied hard for during the beta testing. Never did get an answer as to whether or not it was in the plans. ~ Arwen ~ Home Airfield: KHIE
March 5, 201214 yr I don't really care if they add real weather or not, but for the sake of all those who seem to want it I hope they do at some point. I would like to see them add more weather themes, such as the overcast with little wind scenario mentioned above. One thing asked for by quite a few beta testers including myself was a change to the fair weather theme. Those hundreds of little cotton ball clouds just don't look right to me and not what I see on a "fair weather" day. As for the other themes, I really like them all, and I would like to see more added. Ken
March 5, 201214 yr I use AS2012 for real world weather in FSX, and I really prefer using real weather. However, if the weather is too bad to fly, I'll go with one of the weather themes. But "too bad to fly" is relative, and I've flown a lot in really horrible weather.I'm just hoping that if it's implemented i Flight, it's a lot better than the default real weather in FSX. I know that in Flight the Isolated Thunderstorms weather conditions will vary over distance. Has anyone seen any evidence that the weather in any of the other themes varies over time as well? I'm sure I've seen it, but it usually requires flying from wherever you shut your plane down last, and it can get reset if you do a mission.Hook Larry Hookins Oh! March 5, 201214 yr +1 for RWWNice to have but not a must, OR 10 more different themes like JvanE said! "It's ALL about Flying" i7-9700k @5ghz | 32gb Gskill Ripjaw 5 DDR4 3000 | Nvidia RTX 4080 | W10 Pro | Samsung 32" 4K TV | Virpil Throttle & Pedals | Winwing Stick

Compared to the millions of variations I can make in FSX (theoretical ) 10 isn't much. Also because a few (a real few this time) look very ugly OR are almost unflyable.and not what I see on a "fair weather" day.I am calling that MS Flight preset "unfair weather"... :P Edited March 5, 201214 yr by J van E

Ok we found out that we can read wind data at HUD, but as far as I know, we cannot read pressure anywhere, I cannot find temperature gauge in my demo planes.Where are pressure systems, fronts, jetstreams, windshears, TCU, CB?Did anyone experienced icing conditions?I can say flight's weather system is so slim for now I need some magnifying glass to see it actually exist.FSX weather system is garbage as well, just some 3dp developers found way to fix it a little. Its still a garbage. Edited March 5, 201214 yr by g_precentralis Lj. Prodanovic
March 5, 201214 yr I fly with real weather every flight in FSX, so it is a must, but it does impact performance. I have enjoyed how well the bad weather is done in flight, so I would be thrilled to have real weather implemented in the VERY NEAR future. So far I am really enjoying Flight, but I am starting to really miss a few things such as waves, car traffic, AI and of course real weather. Best, Michael KDFW
March 5, 201214 yr I don't know if real world weather is as important as dynamic weather. Sure, it is cool to look out your window and then go fly in the same weather that you see. However, I do not think it is as important as having weather that at least acts like real weather. What I mean is that I would prefer weather that changes over time, is random and at times unpredictable. It does not have to be what is really happening, simply a representation of what does happen in a given areas climate cycle. Todd Fleck
March 5, 201214 yr I don't think at root real world or not real world is the major problem. I see the problem as variety. Give me a good assortment to choose from that are significantly different enough from each other (and purty, too) to satisfy the need for diversity and I would be happy.Four or five themes from each variety of weather (like light rain, medium rain, heavy rain. thunderstorm etc) with variable visibility's as a modifier would be fine.Other themes would be light, medium and heavy clouds, Light medium and heavy winds, various user mix and match combinations of all three......You get the picture. We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically.
