July 13, 201114 yr Fact is PMDG support and communication with the user base is outstanding. Their forum is open to everyone, not just product owners (although I wish it wasn't to be honest) so everyone can check it out themselves. Threads bashing the competition are not allowed and many have been locked and deleted in the past for that very reason. Some people here have unresolved issues with them obviously, but the fact is that 99% of the Avsim community already know PMDG well enough and won't buy some of the crap that has been said in this thread. Their products are great too, I don't think anybody in their right mind would dare dispute that.About the NGX, I chose to wait, and once we can compare both NG's I'll get the best one, simple as that. That's what most of us do after all isn't it?

July 13, 201114 yr If guys don't mind developers behavior and only bought the product, other guys will complain "how can it be, that dev is evil, are you blind?".If guys even knowing dev's evilness will buy a product of theirs, well...something is really wrong in this logic...hope I'm wrong.Again, time will tell... Mauricio Brentano
July 13, 201114 yr Talking about PMDG and evilness is just silly.I have the iFly and love it, but I will probably buy the PMDG NGX if its frame rates are better than the iFly's (post SP1).... just because I like complex aircraft with great frame rates.
July 13, 201114 yr :Big Grin:Yeah, that's silly. I'm just kidding.I'm a PMDG a really excited user, but don't tell others... Mauricio Brentano
August 30, 201114 yr I have both the ifly 737ng and the PMDG 737ngx and the honest position is that I only now fly the PMDG. I have had almost no problems with the PMDG 737NGX and it feels just more complete and authentic and more challenging than the ifly. It is certainly more demanding especially with VNAV. I am not any form of ATPL so I can't comment on whether that really is reality but it is immensely satisfying to fly complex flights and get everything including autoland with the HUD working correctly. I also found the ifly a bit pernickety about following exactly a check list including all the safety check items before the next process would work and I never seemed to be able to get the engines to start without using Control-E. On the other side it is great value and worth buying and is more complete as PMDG has not yet published its SDK so there are more add ons with ifly and PMDG has yet to publish its advanced tutorial which is a bit annoying. They are both excellent products and I don't regret buying either but the PMDG is yet another level above any other simulation I have ever seen and some of its problems are sometimes due to being at the limit of what FSX can provide as a 32bit app. I have nothing to do with either company and if you are coming to a complex simulation for the first time I would recommend the ifly as the learning curve is less difficult. and anything above the tutorial flight means delving into Boeing's 3000 page Operational Manual documentation which is amazing but definitely intimidating. At the moment I find the PMDG 737NGX the only airplane I want to fly it is such fun and combined with FSBuild to build really good flight plans is just fantastic. Peter Rowan

Peter Rowan I think it all depends on your definition of "value". If you prefer quality over quantity then you should go pmdg.If on the other hand you prefer quantity over quality then you could either pick the more simplistic ifly or even better download one of the many freeware models and purchase ernie's simavionics package instead. This way you can save the $54 and you can use the gauges with many other airplanes.

HelloI have both products now and each one has its merits , neither are perfect. The inaccurate modelling in the PMDG VC is starting to bug me now that I have noticed it, other than that it is quite nice and I have had zero issues so far unlike a lot of folks. The i-Fly could use some higher resolution textures in some areas of the VC but overall it is a nice product, the SDK and Goflight drivers make it more useful for me until PMDG get some Goflight support.Get both, its the only way you will satisfy yourself as to which is the best for your use and your system.

August 31, 201114 yr The inaccurate modelling in the PMDG VC is starting to bug me now that I have noticed it, our system. Really...what inaccurate modelling? Very interested in this, PMDG said that they used Boeing specs throughout.Hate necro-threads, but this caught my eye Ian R Tyldesley
